"Unacceptable Conditions at Brookdale Memory Care Facility"
My mom recently died at the Brookdale memory care facility on Geary. Whenever we visited, the place wasn't clean enough. A lot of times, there were no staff around for over 10 minutes to talk to or help us leave because they were all on a smoke break. In her last days, she was left alone without care for I don't know how long. It was tough to be near her. After mom passed away, the staff went through all her stuff and took anything valuable. They unpacked her suitcases and took stuff, then filled them with another resident's dirty clothes. All the pockets in her clothes were inside out. The only things left in her purse were her ID and phonebook. They emptied out her purse of her crackers, tissues, watch, and who knows what else, and put it in a luggage of the unused linens we bought for her. Pretty much anything we bought new for her disappeared while she was living there.

"Terrible Treatment and Lack of Staff at Brookdale Facility"
Very disappointed. The decent nurses got mistreated and lost their jobs. They kept a nurse who used to work in a prison and didn't care properly for the elderly patients. This place needs a cook, housekeeping, and maintenance staff. The person I know got sent to the hospital and Brookdale wouldn't let him return! I've raised these issues with the boss when we moved out. They couldn't even give us a wheeled cart to move the heavy furniture!

"Great Staff, But Watch Out for Hidden Fees"
We liked the staff and how they treated our relative. It’s one of the best places I’ve seen, and I’ve visited many. However, the charges and hidden fees were outrageous - way over [removed]k per month, even with Hospice care. Our daughter had a bad experience with promises made and then rejection of a relative, so circumstances matter.

"Neglect and Disappointment"
Assisted Living Falls Short of Expectations. The review highlights serious concerns about the assisted living facility. The caregivers’ negligence, lack of proper care, and rising costs have left the family deeply disappointed. The plea to protect loved ones from this subpar environment is heartfelt.

"Good setup but charging issues and no move-in"
The food seems good, and the activities are okay. They tried to charge me before my loved one even moved in. I chose this place because it was clean, well-staffed, and nicely set up. However, my loved one didn't end up moving here.

"Understaffed and Slow Service"
They don't have enough staff. My family member's bathing schedule is always delayed, and room cleaning is sluggish.

"Helpful staff, nice clean room, recommended."
The staff were very helpful and supportive, though sometimes short on resources. My family member had a nice, clean room. Overall, I would recommend Brookdale Geary Street to others.

"Disappointing Experience at Brookdale Geary Street"
Brookdale Geary Street didn't feel welcoming. Our tour guide, the maintenance guy, seemed uninterested. The place was dirty and poorly maintained. Both residents and staff appeared unhappy and unfriendly. We chose a different facility.

"Poor Service and Overpriced, Assisted Living Facility To Avoid"
The staff was nice, but they didn't get paid enough. Our time there wasn't good. They fired a lot of people, and nobody was there to take care of my family member. My relative didn't enjoy the meals they served. They didn't have any fun stuff to do because the big bosses were not happy. The amount we paid was too much for the lousy service. If you care about anyone, don't bring your family here. They lost my family member's clothes, personal stuff and blankets.

"Improvements Needed in Med Tech Training"
Brookdale Geary Street has some big changes they should make, and my ratings reflect that. The main area for improvement is their med tech training.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Community"
I wouldn’t recommend returning my mother-in-law to this community. Some staff are good, but others need training.

"Assisted Living Facility Earns Praise for Helpful, Patient Service"
We had a great tour. They were really helpful and nice. We almost moved our loved one in. We had to wait a couple of times because we weren't sure what was best for them, and they kept the room for us and gave us time to decide. We were really thankful for that.

"Friendly Community with Food Service Issues"
I would recommend this place, but there's a problem with staff communication. The kitchen staff changes a lot, and sometimes the meals are wrong, late, or not delivered at all. This keeps happening, and I think they need to change how they handle food. Incorrect meals can cause problems for the residents. The community is very friendly to both residents and families.

"Great Communication and Caring Staff"
We picked Brookdale Geary Street because they had space and my grandma stayed there before. They are good at keeping in touch, sending us newsletters, and calling if there's a problem. I would recommend it to others.
