"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Food"

The staff is really nice. It took some time for my mom to adjust. Other residents were friendly. The food could be improved—it's okay, but not worth the high monthly rates. Feels more like cafeteria food than home-cooked meals.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

Moving our loved one from NV to OR was challenging. Staff was helpful, but improvements needed in organization and communication. Our management background helped navigate care, but others may struggle. Food complaints from our loved one, but we haven't tried it ourselves. Informal move-in process and lack of family tour was disappointing. Limited introduction to staff. Housekeeping satisfactory after clarification. Unpleasant surprises with undisclosed services and changes. Unsure about recommending.

"Poor Staffing and Fake Friendliness at Brookdale Tualatin"

My family member was about to settle into Brookdale River Valley Tualatin, but they backed out just a few hours before the move-in, saying they didn't have enough staff to care for my family member. This turned her world upside down and it wasn't fair to her at all. The staff seemed nice, but it didn't feel genuine. I certainly wouldn't recommend Brookdale River Valley Tualatin to anyone else. It's not right to treat a seriously ill person the way they dealt with my family member's situation.

"Great Place with Room for Improvement"

It's pretty good overall, but they could add activities and outings. The place is really nice, and residents seem to enjoy it. Thanks for the great service!

"Staff shortages affect care quality; wouldn't recommend to others."

The Brookdale River Valley always has reasons for not getting things done. Our family member doesn't always get the care she needs when she's supposed to, even though Medicare pays for it. Based on our experience with Brookdale River Valley, we wouldn't tell other families to go there.

"Inadequate Staffing and Communication at Assisted Living Facility"

I don't suggest this place. Yes, the staff is friendly, but they seem overwhelmed. It's okay if you can take care of yourself, but they just don't have enough help for assisted living. Moreover, they failed to update us on any issues. I chose this place, only because it was the only one available at the time.

"Brookdale Neglects Care for Residents, Additional Charges"

Our time at Brookdale was terrible. They failed to properly care for my dad, while making us foot the bill for round-the-clock care. It seems like we'll have to involve the authorities.

""Mixed Experience at Brookdale River Valley""

My mom lives at Brookdale River Valley Tualatin. They don't clean the rooms often, and when they do, it's not very clean. Sometimes they're not sure if my mom is there or not. I wouldn't recommend this place for families. If we could move my mom, we probably would, but we can't right now.

"Supportive Staff and Improved Adjustments"

My mom felt lost at first for about 2 months. She didn't get used to her new home right away. We had to talk to the managers a lot for them to understand this. But then they started doing better and have been good since. It was small things like knowing where to go, who would take her to eat, what time, and when to press her button for help. The staff is great. They're very nice and helpful to my mom. They do a good job with cleaning, laundry, and helping my mom with personal things. There are lots of nice residents and their pets too. I don't eat there so I can't say much about the food, but my mom doesn't complain so it must be good. There are only two things that need attention. The different parts of the place need to talk to each other more. Also, one of the people at the front desk might be better working where we can't see them.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living"

I’d tell a friend to explore other places. They should be clear about what services are available, what’s included, and any extra costs. At first, the staff seemed friendly and confident, but communication got worse after we signed papers. They never responded to our questions or concerns on time. Plus, the food is always cold because my parent won’t eat in the dining room. One time, another resident caused a bad experience.

"Cleanliness Concerns and Efficiency at Brookdale River Valley Tualatin"

Brookdale River Valley Tualatin didn't seem as helpful and organized as another place we checked out. Also, I thought their buildings weren't as neat and sanitized, which mattered to me during Covid times.

"Mixed Experience: Great Caregivers, Slow Responses, Mixed Food Experience"

The caregivers are great, but sometimes short-staffed. Call button responses can be slow. My loved one dislikes the food, although the menus seem appealing. The community gives us peace of mind about safety. Getting my loved one into the community was a good process. The marketing director and front desk are excellent. There are a few wonderful aides caring for my loved one.

"Inaccessible and Uncooperative Staff at Memory Care Facility"

My mother-in-law stays at a memory care facility and it's extremely difficult to reach her via phone. They always have her phone ringer switched off. Every time I try calling through the main switchboard, I'm usually asked to call back later. The staff members tend to make excuses like, 'Oh, she's sleeping, or at the dining room, or in her room.' It feels like they're not being truthful. I simply ask that they keep her phone ringer on so she can communicate with her siblings. Yet, they cut short our conversations and sometimes don't even give her the phone. So frustrating! This place is the worst!

"Preferred Another Community"

We thought this place was nice, but my loved one preferred another community, so we chose that one.
