"Improvement Needed in Internal Communication Among Assisted Living Staff"
We had some problems with the staff at first. Even after they checked our loved one's needs, they still seemed confused about how much care was necessary. The staff and bosses really need to talk better with each other.

"Avoid This Dirty Assisted Living: Poor Cleaning, Staffing Issues"
I moved my grandma, who's 101, into this facility last year because she needed help. I wish I hadn't. This place is downright dirty. They don't clean the rooms regularly. Up until today, I found a thick layer of dust in her room. I finally spent more than an hour scrubbing her bathroom, dusting all over, and vacuuming. And we're supposed to be paying them for this service. The staff members keep switching out and we were assured there would always be a nurse or practical nurse around, but that wasn't the case. Today's a Saturday of the Labor Day weekend and there's no one in charge here. I've reached out to the State Ombudsman, who was already informed of the issues here. My advice? Don't consider this place for your mom or dad until something changes.

"Avoid This Guilty Nursing Home Waiting for Major Improvement"
I moved my 101-year-old mom to this facility for her assisted care last year - totally regret it. This place is filthy, they seldom clean apartments. Her room was thick with dust until I took over an hour to clean the bathroom, dust, and vacuum today - and we're still footing the bill for this service. The staff here is in constant turnover. They promised that there'd always be a registered or licensed practical nurse available, but it's untrue. As I write this, it's Saturday of the Labor Day weekend and there’s no higher-up in sight. I reported to the State Ombudsman who evidently is already informed about issues here. Avoid bringing your parent here unless there's a major transformation.

"Decent, but Didn't Meet Our Specific Requirements"
I visited Brookdale Woodside while searching for a place for my mother-in-law, although it didn't fit our needs. They only offer memory care there. It seemed to me like it was meant more for folks who need constant assistance, people with advanced requirements. I didn't think she'd like it, as she wants to be independent. We felt likewise; we didn't want her to feel trapped there, so we chose a different place.

"Great Activities and Delicious Food!"
I am very happy with everything this community has done for my mother. She has settled in well and feels right at home. The food they serve is wonderful. She enjoys all three meals a day and loves her dining experience. They also have a great activity program with bingo, crafts, and movie theater trips. I have had a pleasant experience and would definitely recommend this place.

"Comfortable, Welcoming Assisted Living with Spacious Rooms and Great Care"
This is a lovely place. I met the Sales and Marketing Manager on a Saturday, and they were really nice. The community is small, so it's easy to get to know the other residents. The menu has lots of good options. The best part is that the one-bedroom apartments are roomy and feel comfortable. The staff is based on what the residents need, not how many there are, which is really great!

"Caring Staff Make Brookdale Springfield a Great Home for Mom"
I found Brookdale Springfield, Woodside, through A Place For Mom. I would never put my mom somewhere I wouldn't want to be. My mom has lived with me for seven years and is now 93 years old. Because of my health, I needed to find an assisted living place for her. I was really impressed with the staff at Woodside. They are all professional and caring. Sometimes, they are a little short-staffed during dinner, but my mother is getting into the lifestyle, doing many activities, and looks forward to seeing her friends at mealtime. She is happy and doing better than I expected, which is a big comfort for me.

"Helpful staff, but internal communication needs improvement."
I'm getting too many calls about care services, which is getting tiring. They seem to be going through growing pains and are trying to get coordinated. I drop off my mom's medicine, but then get a call the next morning saying they need it. Their internal communication is off. However, their staff is very helpful and nice to my mom.

"Staff Helpful, But Communication Needs Improvement"
The care services keep calling me a lot, and it's getting annoying. Seems like they're still figuring things out. I give my mom her medicine, but then they call saying they need it. They're not talking to each other well. But the people working there are nice and helpful to my mom.
