"Medication Issues, But Good Overall Service"
Getting my loved one’s medication at the end of her stay took a few tries before we got the right ones. I also wonder if she got her daily meds because her acetaminophen was still sealed, and her Memantine looked the same as when I left her. Otherwise, I’m happy with the service we both received.

"Disappointing Experience at Hawthorne Gardens Senior Living"
My family member stayed at Hawthorne Gardens Senior Living. It wasn't great. People were nice, but place was dirty, food was bad. Workers weren't good, care was low. Don't suggest it to others.

"Sad Decline in Quality and Morale at Hawthorne Gardens"
I praised Hawthorne Gardens and their top-notch director. However, there's been big changes in the business lately. The director and many staff are gone by choice or force. Costs have climbed, while the quality of care, meals, housekeeping, and social stuff has crashed. Everyone living here is stunned and feels low. Now's not a good moment to move your loved one in here.

"Great tour, but small and dark"
The tour was great! But the place felt small and kind of dark without much daylight.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place looks good and is well taken care of. The office staff is friendly, but the service staff’s training varies. The food in the dining room is okay, but when it’s brought to the room, it’s not acceptable.

"Great place with caring staff, needs better housekeeping."
This place is really great for living. The only downside is that they seem to be short-staffed and sometimes struggle to keep up with housekeeping. Our loved one loves it here. All the staff are doing a great job making sure her meds are on time, she’s well taken care of, and has everything she needs. The only con is the housekeeping issue. They are very responsive when we reach out with any concerns.

"Mixed Feelings About Hawthorne Gardens Assisted Living"
This place is nice and just the right size for my loved one. I think Hawthorne Gardens needs more staff, like many places nowadays. Sometimes, my loved one's things have gone missing or are hard to find when I visit.

"Great Tour Guide, But Mixed Feelings Due to Smell"
The tour guide was awesome. She was honest, professional, and really listened to my mom’s needs. I felt good about the place because they had a bright corner room and people my mom could be friends with. But, the room next door had a terrible smell, and the door was wide open. Two employees were trying to help the man inside, and it was a really bad situation. It was just bad luck, but it left a mark on an otherwise positive visit. I’m a bit torn about this place. The location is GREAT, and the neighborhood is beautiful. I liked that the assisted living was all on one floor and felt small, like my mom would get personal attention. It feels cozy compared to other places I’ve seen.

Rather not say, thanks.
"Assisted Living Review: Mixed Experience with Staff and Care"
In this assisted living facility, my mom lived for about a year and a half. While some staff members were helpful, there was a lot of turnover in management and staff. The food quality declined, and communication about health events was inconsistent. The biggest concern was their refusal to allow hospice care at the end of my mother's life. Be informed about the care provided during declining health¹.

"Hawthorne Gardens: Unkept Rooms and Poorly Trained Staff"
Our mom has been living at Hawthorne Gardens Senior Living since fall 2018. She started in Assisted Living and moved to Memory Care last year. In that time, three different groups have tried to manage the facility, with all of them promising to make things better. There's a worrying rate of staff quitting, with some only sticking around for a few weeks. They seem to lack proper training and duties, and it seems like there's barely any oversight. Things are generally worse in Memory Care than in Assisted Living. Mom's room is often dirty. The bathroom floor is so unclean that it's sticky, and it seems like no one's vacuumed the rug in over 3 months. Honestly, the room stinks. Laundry isn't done regularly, and when it is, they tend to ruin the clothes. Basic things like toilet paper and tissues are often not available for Mom. If we didn't visit her EVERY DAY, I'd be super worried about her well-being. Hawthorne Gardens isn't the place they show off in ads or during their tours. Their tours are way too misleading.
