"A Disappointing Assisted Living Facility Experience"

My friend moved into this place right after rehab, but from the start, the owner wasn't friendly. We used to visit our friend twice a day for years, so this was a close friendship. The owner lied about visiting hours, saying they were only from 1-4. Later, I found out there's a state rule for an 8-hour visiting period. If you came even a minute before one o'clock, the owner would yell through the door, saying she was busy and to go away. I'd wait in my car for one or two minutes, and then she'd finally let me in, still acting busy. If it was four o'clock, she'd signal it was time to leave. She also yelled at me for parking in the wrong spot and made me move it across the street. My friend was often on the verge of tears. Though staff would assist her for basic needs, they rarely took her out for exercise or socializing. Eventually, she got pneumonia from lack of movement and passed away in the hospital. The owner would clean her room but ignored her otherwise. She didn't even have her lay down at night; she stayed in her recliner all day and night. I could only visit once a week due to work, and each time, my friend seemed miserable. The owner charged exorbitantly for basic care needs, like using the bathroom or calling for help at night. I grew concerned about the owner's behavior. When we took a picture of the backyard chickens, she got upset and told us not to take photos without permission. Coupled with her unfriendly attitude and my friend's constant distress, I became suspicious. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I wouldn't trust this place with anyone I cared for. Others who had loved ones here reported similar problems.
