"Excellent care but food could be improved"

The staff who cared for my mom and dad were amazing. They were very patient, and I felt confident that mom and dad were well taken care of. I trusted them completely. However, I think the food could have been healthier and a bit better quality. We paid a fair price for having both mom and dad there at the same time. The nurses were great and really focused on their care until mom and dad passed away.

"Negligent staff and excessive costs at elderly care facility"

This place is short-staffed and lacks order. They failed to deliver on their promises. The cost of memory care here, and in general, is way too much. They couldn't even keep my incontinent mother and her bedding tidy, or keep track of her belongings like her TV remote and stuffed toys. Mom was struggling to chew her food and it went unnoticed by the staff. My sister and I spotted this issue on numerous occasions and even though I told the staff about it and they claimed to change her diet to more manageable food, it never happened.

"Mixed Experience at McLoughlin Place Assisted Living"

I'm kinda let down by McLoughlin Place. I told them stuff when I checked it out for my family member. I said I was worried about 2 things, but they said they could handle it. Turns out, they didn't. So annoying. They're nice, but every time I go, there's different people working. And the cleaning isn't great. Someone spilled food by my family's room, and it stayed there for a week. The floor is always sticky. They take out the trash, but the room is still messy with clothes everywhere. They hardly talk to us, and I hardly see any staff when I'm there. The food looks good, but I haven't tried it. I'm not sure if I'd tell others to go here, I'm not sure. Once, I saw someone crying in the hallway, and when I told a nurse, she just shrugged and said it happens when families give the wrong meds.

"Warning: Theft and lost belongings in assisted living facility"

We chose this place in a hurry once, but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone else. Too many things went missing, especially clothes that belonged to our family. It was a hassle to track down their stuff.

"Friendly staff, but some improvements needed"

Most of the staff are friendly, but not always quick to respond. Some activities feel a bit childish, and the van for outings isn’t working. Based on our experience with McLoughlin Place, we would still recommend it to other families.

"Affordable but not our top pick; friends recommend for others."

We visited McLoughlin Place for a tour, and the person showing us around did a really good job. Compared to another place we saw, I didn't find this facility as nice, but it was cheaper. One of my friends lives here and she thinks it's wonderful; she really enjoys it. It just didn't match what we were looking for.

"Expensive Assisted Living Facility"

I'm taking my 98-year-old mom out of this place. They promised a discount of $3,595 for the first 3 months, then raised it to $4,195. In the 4th month, they added an extra $1,000 charge on top of that. I left 3 messages for the billing office manager, but no response. They sneakily bring back the 'discount' they applied. Plus, they charge $10 for food delivery to my mom's room and $50 for extra housecleaning. It's too expensive for what they offer. .

"The staff appeared annoyed during my scheduled tour."

The staff looked unhappy when I arrived for the tour I had planned with them.

"Neglected Mom's Horrific Experience at Oregon Assisted Living Home"

In 2017, my mom lived for a few months in the memory care unit of an assisted living home. This time was a nightmare. She kept falling and numerous times, I found her on the floor without any clothes on. Every time I visited, she and her surroundings were filthy, a clear sign that she was often neglected. The normal things like cleaning, nail trimming, bathing, and changing her clothes would not happen until I went there to supervise. They didn’t follow doctor’s instructions and we felt desperate to move her out as soon as we could. I suspect her treatment was this poor because she was on Medicaid. Thankfully, she was transferred to hospice care. Her hospice worker did a great job finding her a new place. At this new place, she got the excellent care she always deserved. I truly can't understand how facilities like McLoughlin place in Oregon City are still open. They must be shut down quickly. They even lost all her clothes and her dentures!

"Awful Smell, Rude Staff and Overpriced - Don't Let Loved Ones Stay!"

If I could rate this place below zero, I absolutely would. The main staff member there, whose name I won't mention, practically demanded to know my business. Seriously uncool and downright rude. The entire building smelled like pee, everywhere. There's no chance I'd ever let someone I care about live here!! The price is way more than other places we've checked out too. It's NOT worth the monthly price.

"Extremely Poor Care and Conditions at McLoughlin Place, Oregon"

My mom had a terrible experience at this place. She suffers from Alzheimer's and was there for about a month and a half. During this time, my mom fell down eight times and even broke her wrist plus maybe her hip, but they didn't notice it. Once, when I visited her, they couldn't even find her. She was in a male resident's room with the door closed. Also, twice I encountered staff arguing with her. The cleanliness was awful too. There was poop all over the toilet, on her shoes and carpet, in her laundry basket and on the walls. To top it all, a caregiver told me her lamp broke and I found shattered pieces in her drawer and a fancy vase. Even her blanket and mattress cover were found on someone else's bed. The staff here sure lack proper training and there aren't enough of them. I moved my mom to a better place, but only after a few weeks, she passed away, likely due to poor treatment at McLoughlin Place in Oregon City. On the day we left, one worker admitted that my mom didn't get decent treatment. My rating for this awful place is ZERO stars.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"

Sometimes they don't call back. No other issues. She's improving.

"Corrected Rating to 4 Stars, Not 3.5"

I’m updating my first review. I actually meant to give 4 stars, but it ended up as 3.5 stars by mistake.

"Caring Staff and Supportive Environment"

This place has been great for my sister, who deals with anxiety and memory issues. The staff is really nice and takes good care of her.”
