"Review: Poor staff training and inadequate assistance for residents."

My job takes me to many places, but I always dread heading to this one. The care provided for patients with memory issues is the absolute worst I've seen. They're always understaffed and lots of caregivers barely have experience. The training they provide isn't up to par. The nursing staff isn't good enough. It's a struggle to find anyone capable of helping a resident.

"Gross neglect and inattention at local assisted living facility."

The folk in memory care are neglected daily here. They don't get baths and just sit around staring all day. There's nothing for them to do, no aides to help entertain them, and even simple pleasures like music, TV or games are nowhere to be found. We came to pick up my grandma and the entire place seemed deserted, no aide in sight. Five residents were aimlessly sitting in the living space and we had to go hunt for an aide to provide them some puzzles and activities. Every time we see my grandma, she's extremely dirty. Her nails have grown so out of control that even holding a spoon becomes a task. All her clothes are lost and the staff have no idea where they might be. For a medical visit, she was sent in raggedy sweats and a big shirt that didn't even belong to her. Often times, she's crying out of sheer boredom and lack of things to do. Within a month's time, we've had to take her to the emergency room twice because of the personnel’s poor care.

"Brackets"

This place is laughable! My mom fell twice earlier in the day, but they only took her to the hospital around 6 pm. They even asked me to go to the hospital to substitute the care worker who had accompanied her because they didn't have enough staff. When I returned with my mom later that day, I drove up to the front only to find a caregiver chilling in a wheelchair, preoccupied with his cellphone and a smoke. I asked if there were more wheelchairs. He said no, but he did give up his when he saw I was having difficulty getting my mom out of the car. He didn't bother offering any help, he just continued to smoke and gaze at his phone. Things just got worse after that!" "Careless and unprofessional facility; disappointed with my mom's care!

"Clean, supportive, and engaging assisted living with excellent amenities and food."

Middlefield Oaks has been really good so far. The place is super clean, which is important to me because I like things neat. The staff is super helpful and always ready to answer our questions. The food is good too. Since my mom moved there about a month ago, she's gained six pounds. I think it's because everyone eats together in the dining room and can take their time with meals. There are also lots of activities like cards, puzzles, and crafts. They give out a brochure every month so everyone knows what's happening. It's really expensive, but overall, I'd say it's worth it and would tell others about it.

"Great Presentation, Wrong Location"

I recently visited this community, and I don’t have any complaints about how things went. The staff did an excellent job with the presentation and answered all my questions in detail. I liked the spacious dining room area, and they had a great meal selection for the residents. However, in the end, it wasn’t the right location for us.

"Friendly Staff and Happy Residents at Middlefield Oaks"

Apologies, but we didn’t visit Middlefield Oaks in Cottage Grove, OR. Instead, we checked out Magnolia Gardens. At Middlefield Oaks, the staff was super friendly, and the residents seemed happy and engaged. However, we ultimately chose a different community based on my mom’s preference.

"Activities are fun, facility clean, food could use more flavor."

The activities at this place are really enjoyable. The person who plans them does a great job making sure they're fun and not boring for the people who live here. The building is always clean and seems to be managed well. The food could be a bit more exciting though.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Activities and Dining Experience"

The assisted living place has plenty of things to do like bingo, crafts, and day trips. My mom stayed there, but she fell a few times because no one helped her to dinner. Also, you have to pick your meals a week early, and the food could be better. It would be nice if they had daily menus on the tables to choose from. The dining room is a bit tight; square tables would help people sit together better.
