"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short of Medication Management Expectations"

Our time there was brief. Grandma had to stay until she could manage on her own after hip surgery. We expected her meds to come from our pharmacy, but that didn't happen. One medication needed to be taken before meals, but it was often given during meal times. We arranged for a 9 am pickup, but staff took an extra 20 minutes to deliver her meds, making us late for an appointment. Moving in was easy, and the staff was friendly, but they seemed overwhelmed and stretched thin, likely due to the challenges of COVID staffing shortages.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility Understaffed and Overpriced"

This place costs way too much, like most others. Not enough staff, and it feels like management only cares about money. They try to keep people entertained with bingo and occasional outside performers, plus field trips sometimes. But it's not as great as they make it sound. Maybe better to hire help and stay home.

"Good and bad communication, wait until after COVID"

Communication on some things was very good, but on other things, it was really poor. My loved one had some medical changes while they were there, and I wasn't contacted. I wouldn't recommend using this community until after COVID.

"Unsatisfactory Management and Unconcerned Staff at Assisted Living Facility"

I visited this facility and I would strongly advise against sending your family members here. It's just not professional. The expressions I saw on the residents' faces while they were trying to eat their meals were worrisome. On top of that, the place seemed to be badly managed. Something else I noticed is that the staff appeared to be more interested in taking breaks. Sadly, I am unsatisfied and unimpressed.

"Friendly Staff, Clean Facility: A Strong Contender for Senior Living"

We visited this place while considering options for an older family member. I thought it was pretty nice overall, and it would've been our second pick. The people working there were nice and acted professionally, and the building was clean and well maintained. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking in this area!

"Avoid Prestige Living: Mismanaged Facility and Disrespectful to Residents"

I'm definitely not backing Prestige Living at Southern Hills. My family member resided there for quite some time. The new management is rude and disrespectful to my family member. They went to great lengths to make my family member feel uncomfortable enough to want to leave. According to the State Ombudsman, they violated my family member's rights and we have grounds to sue them. [removed], the person in charge, was boastful about making a handful of the residents leave their dwellings immediately after she took on her role. She seemed to be content with forcing out senior citizens. The quality of care deteriorated significantly and they always seem to have a high turnover rate among their staff. The management is extremely subpar - they don't respond to emails, they purposefully change meeting times to avoid dealing with family members, they snub hospital/medical advice, overlook safety measures in care plans, and have even messed up when giving medications. We eventually moved our family member to a different assisted living home to avoid the unprofessionalism of the management. We refuse to let our loved one continue to be unfairly humiliated.

"Poorly Managed Facility Dampens Resident Experience"

Written in 2015 The workforce at the assisted living facility sure works hard. They're friendly and always on the move trying to support their residents. But there's a high turnover rate and the place is often understaffed. It looks like the management has different priorities; they seem more focused on financial gain, overloading their employees, and attracting new residents than on addressing the actual needs and preferences of the residents already there. An increase in ambulance visits is concerning. A family member who has been there a few times has said the food leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, it seems chaotic and slow in coming. Despite their best efforts, the staff just can't seem to make the residents happy. Either they are understaffed or lack adequate support. From what I've seen, there's a significant lack of teamwork, help from the management, and good communication. This is really unlucky for the current residents. I wouldn't advise anyone to put a loved one in Southern Hills. The services are overpriced and below par.
