"Need for improvements in medication acceptance and evaluation process"
We believe that Merrill Gardens at Sheldon Park could get better if they started accepting over-the-counter meds that aren't in bubble wrap from relatives. Their evaluation process could also do with some improvements.

"Dad's Poor Care at Facility Deeply Disappointing"
I'm sorry to say, but my dad's stay at this facility was really a letdown. They kept messing up, not taking care of his needs. I didn't feel like the staff really cared. I found out many times that they didn't take care of his basic things, which made him upset and uncomfortable. It's really hard to trust professionals with someone you love and then feel like they're not getting the attention they need. I really hope other families don't go through this, but after what happened with us, I can't suggest this place to anyone.

"Comfortable and Supportive Assisted Living for Smooth Transitions"
My mom went from being completely independent to needing assisted living within a month. It was a big change for her. We found a temporary place in her hometown while we searched for something closer to family in Eugene. A lady at the temporary place suggested MG to my mom, and I'm glad she did. It wasn't on our list at first, but it turned out to be the one we chose. They helped us in many ways to get everything organized for mom to move in. From the very start, my mom said, "I feel really comfortable here," "I knew right away that this was the right place for me," and "everyone here is so nice and always willing to help." We feel fortunate that the staff made a difficult and busy time easier for us.

"Decent Assisted Living with Memory Care at Sheldon Park"
Merrill Gardens at Sheldon Park has a great memory care unit. I appreciate their transitional care program for people in between care levels. We didn’t pick this facility due to its somewhat isolated location and institutional vibe, but it’s still a decent option we’re considering.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience at Sheldon Park"
Sheldon Park has changed owners three times in five years. The memory care section is usually short on staff, especially on weekends. A lot of residents seem heavily medicated and are grouped together in the activity room just watching TV. The floors are sticky and the rooms are dusty.

We picked Sheldon Park for my dad because it suited his needs. The room sizes are about the same as others we looked at. Dad likes the food here and hasn’t had any problems. The best part has been how quickly the staff respond to any issues. I would suggest this place to others.

"Terrible Experience Exposed at Sheldon Parks Assisted Living Home"
My aunt isn't happy at all in her assisted living home. It's like she's in a jail. People are not nice to her there and they tease her. She told us about one time when a nasty woman played a mean prank on her during lunch. They claim that they offer a range of activities but my aunt is excluded from them. She isn't even allowed to have food or drink in her own room. She needs to get out just for that. Their quality of service is very disappointing. They even accused my aunt of letting a cat enter her room. The silly part is that the cat is the pet of a woman who doesn't even like my aunt. Value for money is a joke there. What's even worse is how the staff behaves in the memory care area. It's a miserable environment. I strongly suggest you think twice before choosing Sheldon Parks as your future home. It's turned into a hellish life for my aunt. We're trying our best to find an alternate living arrangement for her. Something really shocking is that once you use up all your money, they literally throw you out! That's how terrible Sheldon Parks is! If you're still considering it for yourself, I hope you'll be able to cope!

"Overpriced With Bad Food and Sparse Transportation"
My parents stayed for three months at Sheldon Park Senior Living center. The workers were pleasant, and always professional, but they eventually left due to several issues. They often complained of bad tasting food that was sometimes served cold and lacked variety. It also didn't seem fresh. The rides provided for residents were limited to just two days a week, which were mainly for medical appointments. After a brief time in the Memory Care section, my parents moved into a 1 bedroom Assisted Living suite. Given the hefty fees, it didn't feel like they were assisted beyond having their laundry done. It cost an additional $430 monthly to manage my mother’s medicines. One thing that really bothered me was the complicated monthly invoices from the facility. They were so confusing, I doubt many of the seniors living there could understand them without help. Thankfully, my mother's health improved enough for them to return to their former independent living center.

"Exceptional Care at Sheldon Park for Loved Ones"
We wanted to keep his living situation similar to what he had at Willamette Oaks. We’ve been really happy with his care. A move-in coordinator helped us for the first few weeks to make sure Dad felt comfortable. He has a lovely garden apartment that he really enjoys. Since Dad is still mentally sharp, it was important for him to be treated that way, and the staff has done just that. The medical team and caregivers are fantastic, and he likes everyone who helps him. They also have regular meetings to discuss any updates in care. Moving to assisted living is a tough choice, and the transition can be stressful.

"Fantastic care and activities, clean, pricey but worth it!"
This facility is excellent. It's close to grocery stores and doctors, yet in a nice residential area. The nursing care is top-notch but not intrusive. They help my bedridden mother, who is a brittle diabetic, with special lifts and keep detailed records on her health and medication. Most residents don't need hospice care due to the high level of nursing. They offer great activities like exercise, crafts, and live music, and even do charity work. The food is available from 7AM to 7PM with many choices, and meals can be taken to rooms. Families can join meals for a small fee. They also have fun activities like BBQs, cocktails by the fireplace, and weekend trips including fishing and hot air balloon rides. The Move-In specialist helps newcomers adjust and get involved. My father would find plenty of activities, and my mother would receive better care than at home. The staff are happy and have been there for years, showing low turnover. The facility is clean and well-maintained, with no unpleasant odors. Although it's pricey at around $5,200 a month for a small apartment, the quality of care and cleanliness make it worth it. There is likely a waiting list due to its high demand.

"Mom Finds Comfort in Assisted Living, Room for Improvement"
Mom's settling in here and getting used to things. It'd be nice if the caregivers talked with us more, and the food isn't as great as we hoped. Her room needs some fixing up, and they're not in a hurry about it. Still, she's safer here than alone at home. They tidy up once a week, and she's even found an old friend!

"Great place with caring staff and many activities."
My parents live here now. [Director's name] really made things happen. We had a tricky situation, but she got everything sorted out. The staff is excellent and always available. Whenever you need something, just ask. My dad and all the residents are clean and well cared for, with a focus on their dignity. The food is okay; it's balanced and has lots of choices. They offer many activities like bingo, exercise classes, music programs, piano recitals, and field trips. There's a daily schedule with different things to do. The facility isn’t brand new but is clean, and my parents’ rooms are always tidy. I would recommend this place.

This facility takes great care of my mother-in-law. She’s in the Ridge Program, where the staff checks on her every 30 minutes and attends to her special needs. Here’s a rewritten version of the review: Things are going really well here, and my family is happy with the care our loved one is getting. The staff is very proactive, open, and quick to respond to our feedback. They are also good at calming her down if she gets upset. She always looks happy when I visit. They have a Bridge Program for residents with moderate dementia, with special activities and focused care. The food is pretty good, and she seems to like it. They sit her with familiar people and will even bring her food if she prefers. Overall, it’s been a great experience, and I highly recommend them.

"Invisible Visitor: Unattended During Planned Facility Tour"
I had booked a visit to explore this assisted living home, and when I arrived, I noticed about five staff members deep in conversation. I patiently waited for them to pause and assist me. Still, they seemed oblivious to my presence. After spending quite some time aimlessly waiting, I took it upon myself to tour the place. I peeked inside the residents' rooms, wandered through the cafeteria, dining hall, and even found my way into the kitchen! Despite loitering around for an hour and a half, nobody came up to help or ask if I had any questions. I eventually left and later called the facility. The person in charge of recruitment seemed surprised, claiming she had been waiting for me. I explained the situation, but even when she offered to reduce the hefty $4,200 entry fee by half - although it's non-refundable - I declined. I initially intended for this place to be my mom's new home, but after my interaction, or lack thereof, I reconsidered. If I could wander around unnoticed, I had serious doubt about how attentive they'd be to my mom's needs. Just to be clear, the facility itself seems quite nice and I've heard good things. However, my personal experience dissuaded me from placing my mother there.

"Sad and Smelly: Unpleasant Visit to Local Community"
We visited this community and weren't thrilled, actually, it made me a bit scared thinking that all places like this were the same. The place was neat but it was so sad to see – no activities going on and folks were just sitting around in what seemed like a dining room. The tables were bare, the community felt empty. While walking around, we couldn't ignore a nasty smell. The workers seemed rather pushy, trying to get us to agree to rent, and we noticed not many staff around during our visit.

We looked into Assisted Living and picked Sheldon Park for its beautiful facility, amazing staff, and quality care. Mom has recovered well and, when asked about moving back home, she says she’s too happy at Sheldon Park to leave. They manage her medications, cook for her, and treat her with kindness. Most importantly, she gets to pick daily activities and has made many friends. It’s hard to find her in her room because she’s so active and happy. "Sheldon Park: Good and Bad Mixed"
My mom has been living at Sheldon Park for six weeks now. There’s a lot to like about this place, but there are a couple of big downsides too. The food is just okay, and the service in the dining room isn’t great. Also, the medical care isn’t always reliable. Some of the medical helpers are really good and know what they’re doing, but others have made mistakes like giving my mom the wrong medicine or going into someone else’s room and trying to give them medicine that wasn’t theirs! This is really serious because it could hurt someone’s health or even be dangerous.

"Got Rid of Caregivers Due to Numerous Failures at Facility"
We had a ton of problems with this place. We ended up having to let them go. We gave the boot to their caregivers and replaced them with the team from New Horizon. They would leave dirty diapers in a bag right by our furniture. They never got the medications delivered on time. And the call buttons? They wouldn't answer those in time either. My mother-in-law was receiving end-of-life care, and it's not okay to rush someone like that to the hospital. But they did it. She was just sleeping and hard to wake up, but they panicked and sent her to the hospital. That was really bad. She got so upset that she passed away there not long after.

The staff at this place really go the extra mile to make special programs for everyone. They make sure there are lots of activities for all the residents. They have a big dining room and activity room for all kinds of events. Overall, they really care about helping their residents have fun, even during tough times.

"Satisfied with Assisted Living Facility Experience"
This place is pretty good overall. They helped us move in smoothly. It's really clean, they keep painting and fixing up the rooms. We haven't gotten a lot of help yet, but maybe it's on the way. The food is yummy, and my folks are eating a lot. They can get rides when needed, though my mom still drives sometimes.

"Things are going well so far"
So far, things are going well. The staff is friendly, and the place is clean and well-kept. We haven’t had any issues with how fast they respond or how attentive they are. My loved one doesn’t really join in the activities, but there’s always something happening when I visit. No complaints about the food either, it seems fine.

"Great for the transition between assisted living and memory care."
My loved one might be easy to overlook since his needs aren't as urgent as others, but he still needs a lot of help. It's a really nice place, and he really enjoys it there. He loves the food and the variety. They also offer meals within a flexible time window, which is better than strict mealtimes. We chose this place because they have different steps and ways to handle incidents. They have a program that helps with the transition between assisted living and memory care.

"Great care and friendly staff at Sheldon Park!"
We’ve had a great experience with Sheldon Park. It’s a perfect fit for our loved one. The community is clean and well-kept, and the staff are very friendly. They handle all the care and amenities well. There are lots of activities for residents, but a few more would be nice. Overall, we’re very happy with Sheldon Park and would recommend it!

"Mediocre Facility and Unpleasant Tour Guide"
This place was like so many others. When you step into these kinds of places, you notice folks needing extra attention. This wasn't a nursing home, but somewhere in the middle where they had staff on hand. I just didn't dig the lady who gave us the tour. She left a bad taste in our mouths.

"Great transitional care program with excellent daily support for mom."
We had a few issues at first, but they're resolved now! The Bridges program is amazing. It helps people with dementia or Alzheimer’s who aren’t ready for full memory care yet. It’s been fantastic for my mom. The staff training for new arrivals could be better. The first week didn’t go smoothly, though they followed their protocols. I pointed this out, and after a meeting, they made improvements. Things are much better now. They’re quite good now, even if we had a rough start. The Bridges program is perfect for my mom. A dedicated woman runs the program and takes the women out for activities five days a week. They sometimes join other assisted living or memory care activities. Mom gets constant care and is with others at her level. They play cards, have tea, and listen to stories. I hope other places offer similar programs. It’s fantastic.

"Great staff and activities!"
I'm sorry to say that Sheldon Park may be too expensive for many people. My sister can afford it now, which is great, but I wish they didn't only cater to the wealthy. They are very helpful. Dorian, the director, goes above and beyond with compassion. She gave us the answers we needed and I’m so thankful for her! My sister can’t join in the activities, but they have a full schedule! There’s also a calendar for memory care, which is nice. Everyone seems happy and involved.
