"Great care but room for improvement with staff and planning"

I would definitely recommend this place. Most of the issues we had were more about us than them. For example, my mom had trouble taking her medicine, so I asked them to remind her, but I think I should have just asked them to give it to her directly next time. I also need to bring more of her things from home, like her recliner, to make her feel more comfortable. They didn't have a good chair for watching TV. I also need to make a better activity and meal plan for her because she was hesitant to ask for what she wanted or needed. My mom mentioned that sometimes her food was cold when it arrived, and it could take a while for staff to get to her when she called. But I understand that they are busy and can’t always get to her immediately. The staff is very nice, and I think they would be perfect if they had more help. The ones who are there are doing their best. My mom will likely stay there again, and I hope her next visit goes better since she will know what to expect and hopefully be more vocal about her needs. It’s tough for her because she’s in a wheelchair and feels more dependent, but I reminded her that asking for help is what they’re there for.

"Good Place Despite Rough Move-In Process"

My mom lives at Village at Keizer Ridge. Moving in was a little tough because there wasn’t a tour or orientation for her. But overall, I would still recommend this place to others.

"Best Efforts, But Assisted Living May Not Have Been Suitable"

It was at The Village for 6 days before going to the hospital and never coming back. Given the situation, The Village did the best they could. I don't think [name removed] should have been accepted into assisted living in the first place. Even with the problems we had with [name removed], they tried their best to help. I marked N/A for activities because I don’t think [name removed] ever took part in any. Headline:

"Dedicated Craft Enthusiast Seeks Support from Facility"

It's interesting. I've been doing all the arts and crafts for a year and a half now. I purchase all the materials myself. I've requested a craft room multiple times because the residents really enjoy crafting. Despite being told it's a good idea, nothing happens. I keep all the supplies in my apartment, which upsets . But I take pride in my work and it brings joy to the residents.

"Elderly Exploited, Unhelpful Management at VKR Facility"

A dear family member relocated to VKR in October of 2022 after an ex-employee from his former place, Bonaventure, persuaded him to change his residence. In November, we uncovered that the same ex-employee had tricked him into handing over a massive amount of money through ATM withdrawals and Zell transfers during the COVID lockdown. Shockingly, she had also bought several flight tickets and had deceptive uses of our family member's timeshare - with Florida, Palm Springs, and Hawaii being some of the locations. Moreover, it was clear that she was excessively in contact with our loved one, as they would spend more than an hour talking each weekday over the phone. This misuse of relationship was entirely out of line and exploiting an elderly individual for financial gains is deplorable. VKR only suspended her for a negligible five days after we reported it to the state and, though she paid some of the money back, was allowed to return afterward. To make matters worse, the facility's higher-ups were unhelpful in our attempts to resolve this issue, refusing to provide the tax statements we requested unless our family member agreed verbally.

"Quiet but nice, with few residents seen during the day"

Keizer Ridge was a nice place that I visited. Most things seemed good, but it was a bit sad and disappointing to see so few residents in the common areas during the day. The places felt empty of activity, but maybe that's just how it is. The more independent residents probably get out more and do more activities.

"Management changes made it unsuitable for our loved one."

We toured in person, but management changes made it unsuitable.

"Assisted Living Review: Varied Meals, Limited Activities During COVID"

We haven't personally tried the meals, but our loved one says they're not fancy, yet they're good quality with plenty of choices. Due to COVID restrictions and lockdowns, activities have been limited, so residents haven't been able to participate much. Thankfully, things are starting to open up again, and we hope the activities will improve.

"Good for independent seniors, but not for those needing more help"

My loved one has been here during the pandemic. If you have a senior who is pretty independent, they will do well here. But if your loved one needs more help, you might want to check out a smaller community.

"Friendly staff, limited experience due to pandemic"

The front desk staff are super nice and friendly. Sadly, our loved one moved in during the pandemic, so she hasn’t been able to enjoy everything the community offers.
