"Mixed Experience with Medication and Food Preferences at Assisted Living"

This place is great for my mom. It’s small, clean, and the staff is nice. The only issue we’ve had is with her medications. It was confusing because we weren’t given clear instructions. I had to ask how to manage it, which took a while after she moved in. We use the pharmacy here, but they only accept prescriptions by fax, not email. It’s frustrating because that’s outdated. Also, we filled out a food preference sheet noting she dislikes eggs, yet they keep serving them. They did make her a peanut and jelly sandwich instead, but more variety like pancakes would be nice. Overall, good place, but some improvements needed.

"Lack of Activities Disappoints Residents"

The staff is nice, but there aren't any activities for the residents. They promised many activities, but my mom has been there for almost two weeks without any. She's not used to sitting in her room all day.

"Allegheny Place Excels in Value, Care, and Community Amenities"

I thought Allegheny Place was the best choice because it offered good value for the cost, took good care of us, had nice-looking buildings and apartments, was very clean, the staff was friendly, and there were plenty of enjoyable meals and activities.

"Disappointed and Frustrated: Dementia Care Quality Drops at Allegheny Place"

Back in 2019, my mom first moved into Allegheny Place, and at the time, I was really happy with it. Now, after around 2 and a half years, my feelings have drastically changed, and I feel really disappointed and frustrated. There have been 5 different head managers during this period and nobody sticks around to actually better the place. They seriously need to hire people who are more caring and skilled. I thank my lucky stars that I can visit my mom every day. But, when I can't be there, I always worry whether her care is good enough, whether she's getting her required oxygen, or if her leg wraps for her blood circulation issues are being taken care of. For more than a month now, they haven't even had a cleaner, and I have to clean her room myself. The quality of care is going down, but the price they ask keeps going up. My mom's got dementia, and I worry that shifting her to somewhere new might just confuse her more. Right now, I wouldn't suggest Allegheny Place to anyone.

"Clean, Spacious, and Well-Staffed Facility"

I was really impressed with the tour. Everything was super clean, and the apartment was very spacious. It’s a smaller place, which I liked, and it seemed to have plenty of staff. It was a bit more expensive than some other places.

"Promised Care Not Delivered, Loved One Expelled"

They promised us a range of care services for our family member. I was clear about the dementia history, but there was no record of them ever wandering off. Yet, our family member somehow left the building, and they said they had to move them to a secure facility. We lost most of our deposit, which was non-refundable. They only moved some of our family member's stuff, and they haven't been around to discuss it since then. I've stopped trying. I'm really mad at them. They weren't honest about the care they could give, and they did the complete opposite of what they promised. They let us down big time and kicked our family member out.
