"Mixed Experience at Watermark of Bellingham Assisted Living Facility"
The person in charge of selling, is really great. The folks at the front desk are nice, but they could know more. The nurses are patient but need more knowledge. The cooks and servers are friendly. Whenever I need help with my uncle, I call [name removed]. Out of all the places we visited, Watermark of Bellingham was the best.

"Good Overall, Needs Improvement in Memory Care"
The place is nice overall. But, they haven't focused much on memory care like they did with the rest. There's a plan to make memory care better, but it's the weakest part for now. The staff is awesome. They understand my mom well and are patient with her. It makes me feel fine leaving her there.

"Headline: "Frustrations Arise from Unkept Promises and Increased Rent at Watermark""
My relative moved into Watermark within the past six months, and I was hoping that by now, I'd have a more positive review. We've had a tough time dealing with the new Executive Director and management team. They have not upheld their promises and have shown disrespect to the residents when questioned. To make matters worse, rent was increased significantly. The promised one included meal per day is now charged on a per-item basis, and deducted from a $500 limit, with additional fees for packaging and food delivery to apartments. Despite being told not to worry about staff turnover, we've experienced high turnover and a chaotic move-in day. The apartment was dirty and had serious maintenance problems when encountered on move-in day. Despite resident initiatives for mold removal and to ensure appliances worked, the management were slow to respond. Promised rent adjustments were reduced by the Executive Director, leaving residents with no resolution or response. On the positive side, the ongoing renovations are visually improving the facility. We appreciate the on-call independent living supervisor, front desk, physical therapy, podiatry and salon staff. However, Watermark needs to understand that caring for its residents is just as crucial as making a profit.

"Great people, fixed safety issues quickly"
All the people at the facility are great. On move-in day, my dad's "independent living" apartment looked good, with fresh paint and maybe new carpet. However, there were a couple of safety concerns. One of the handrails in the shower/bathtub was very loose, and the bathroom doors would stick when closed, which almost caused my dad to fall. There were also some smaller issues the facility missed in their final check, but they took care of them right away. The food is great, and the landscaping is perfect for walking my dad's little dog.

"Friendly Community, Needs Brighter Lights and Better Air Conditioning"
is a fantastic spokesperson who describes the community as a supportive and friendly place. However, I found it somewhat dim and think it could use more lights. Even though it's well-cared for, the age of the facility shows. The dining room for individual care seems a bit gloomy. Also, the place is pretty hot because the air conditioning doesn't work well in some rooms.

"High Expenses, Gloomy Decor, Incompetent Staff"
I believed my parents would stay in the independent section, but later found out they required more care. When we moved them to the assisted living section, they wanted 24-hour attention which would be an extra burden on us in terms of cost. The decoration was quite gloomy with insufficient lighting. The dining area for the assisted living residents was in a basement corner and didn't look great. Moreover, I feel that the around-the-clock staff wasn't competent enough.

"Injustice Found in Park Lane's Room Charging Practices"
My family chose Park Lane as the nursing home for our dear one. We faced the financial blow of the private payment rate but were ready to bear it, for ensuring the comfort and privacy of our beloved. We believed the institution was fair. We were proven wrong. The Admissions department and the Administrator colluded with another family, allowing them to pay a semi-private rate for a singular private room. This is plainly unjust and unfair!. It's a financial malpractice that should be considered illegal. If another family is charged a semi-private rate for a private room, then all families should receive the same billing rate. I am left with the question of why this was permitted. We will raise this issue for inspection with the regulatory bodies. This is utterly exasperating!!

After my surgery, I picked Park Lane for my physical and occupational therapy. It was an easy choice because my mom has been a full-time resident here for two and a half years and has received wonderful care. Everyone here is caring, pleasant, effective, and positive about the residents' needs. The nursing, dietary, housekeeping, and other departments respond quickly, and there are lots of activities to keep us busy. The dedication to residents and communication at Park Lane is amazing! I totally recommend sending your loved ones here for care, long-term living, and therapy! I was also really impressed with the ongoing care, food preparation, and the staff who stayed during the blizzard of 2016!

"Starts off good, ends up disappointing"
For a while, my parents liked living on their own in a Bellingham apartment. What bothered them most was the steep yearly rise in the cost, which eventually forced some of their friends to move out because they couldn't handle it. When my parents' health took a turn for the worse, their views on the services at Parklane/Bellingham soured too. Dealing with the staff was a pain because they didn't always communicate well. It felt like they cared more about money than making my parents' lives better. So, watch out and make sure you have everything in writing.

"Bellingham Retirement Community: A Welcoming Place for Active Seniors"
My name is she and I’m an active, independent senior citizen. When I first arrived at this community, I was nervous. But as the day went on, more people greeted me and made me feel welcome, which eased my fears. Like many others here, I have a disability, but we’re all learning to thrive despite our physical challenges. The programs and activities are fantastic. They organize many trips to exciting places that we really enjoy. There are also lots of exercise classes, like Tai Chi and Ballet. We can try our hand at painting, making jewelry, and attending Brain Health University classes, which help keep our minds sharp. For those who prefer quieter activities, there’s Bingo, cards, and board games available. I’ve always loved bowling, and even though I can’t bowl like I used to, I join in on Wii bowling, which makes my days much happier. My time at Bellingham has truly been a blessing for me. I hope anyone who feels nervous about this stage of life comes to see the beautiful lifestyle we have here at Bellingham Retirement Community.

"Bellingham Rehab: Clean premises, poor conduct from Admissions Director"
My wife and I visited the rehab part of Bellingham. It looked clean and most of the staff were friendly. But, we spotted a few staff arguing in a corner. Later, we found out one of them was a patient's daughter who was pretty upset. She told us that when their 100 Medicare days run out, the facility will discharge their patient. This really shocked us. We asked the Executive Director about this, who said the social services team would help find a new place. We also asked the Admissions Director - she had been arguing with the upset daughter - about what happens after those 100 days. She replied quite loudly that if you can't pay, you will have to leave. At this point, the Executive Director ended our tour. This certainly wasn't a good first impression. There's no way I'd leave my father-in-law here. Avoid Bellingham - we transferred him to Wellington off Route 352.

"Nurse: Unreliable nursing care and surprise bills at assisted living"
As a nurse, I can't recommend this place. My mom stayed here for about a month in the Park Lane section. She had broken her thighbone and needed therapy. The physical and occupational therapists were great! The place was tidy, neat and it had large, private rooms with good furniture. But, I had problems with the nursing care. There never seemed to be enough staff, especially at night. It sometimes took an hour for someone to come when the nurse call button was pushed. If my mom needed help going to the bathroom, she would sometimes have to wait for an hour for someone to arrive. Quite often, she was left on a bedpan for nearly an hour because the staff took forever to come when she rang the bell. She quickly learned not to wait too long if she needed help going to the bathroom. The food wasn't good, and we'd heard that before she was admitted. We thought the other parts would make up for it, and we could bring her meals since we came to visit daily. All the food seemed to be precooked somewhere else and then just reheated in a microwave. The meals were typically dry and overcooked. Leaving a loved one in a nursing facility without regular check-ups just isn't possible. I spoke with the Nursing Director before my mom was admitted. We went over her insurance and any co-pay or deductible. She told me my mom's insurance would cover all costs. But, three months after she left, she got a bill for several thousand dollars. I called the billing office, and they said it was her deductible and wouldn't let her make payments.

Everyone at Bellingham has been really helpful. I haven’t moved in yet, but I’m happy with the apartment. I visited a few other places. One was too small, and another didn’t consider my electric wheelchair. Their bus didn’t fit a wheelchair because it was for independent living. I’m independent and don’t need help with myself. "A wonderful place for my mom"
While my mom didn't want to go to senior living, we convinced her by saying she could come home anytime since we hadn't sold her house yet. The first two weeks were an adjustment for all of us, but we managed. During weeks three and four, she had constant complaints that were easily fixed if she asked the front desk for help. Since then, it's been smooth sailing. The staff really cares, the place is beautiful, and her only complaint now is that if she waits too long to eat dinner, some of the popular items are gone. Overall, I would recommend Bellingham to anyone. It's a beautiful facility with caring, kind, and compassionate people.

My dad lives independently here, so he doesn't get many services. He gets one meal a day and housekeeping once a month, which are okay. The activities are alright too. The management team has been very patient with my dad when he faced some challenges. I believe he is in the best place for him.

"Three levels of care in separate buildings, beautiful and lively"
Three levels of care in separate buildings. Beautiful and lively! You can only keep cats in independent living, but you have to give them up in personal care.

"Tour of Assisted Living and Skilled Care Facilities Review"
I checked out the assisted living and skilled care places. The rooms are pretty cool, like being at home. There's plenty of closet space. But for assisted living, you gotta bring all your own furniture and stuff. I didn't find out about pets. Some parts were a bit worn down, but the skilled care might be just what we need for a little while.
