"Mixed Feelings about Brookdale Assisted Living"
The nurses at Brookdale are very good, but there aren't enough of them for everyone in the memory care unit. Sometimes, my family member has to wait up to half an hour for a nurse to come help with daily activities. They really care and are supportive, but there just needs to be more of them. The rooms are great with their own space. It's safe and always nice for my family member. Room cleanliness could be better. Many times, there's food and dirt on the floors. Also, nurses need to help with personal care more often. I've noticed that my family member's teeth haven't been brushed for days. They don't remember and just need the brush and toothpaste, which is kept in a locked cabinet for safety. The communication between me, the nurses, and the doctors could be better. A lot of times, my requests for the doctor aren't passed on or are wrong when they are. My family member is adjusting well to Brookdale, and I really do recommend it. I've been to other care places, and this one is definitely better. A few small changes could make it a 5 overall.

"Mixed Experience: Friendly Staff, Average Activities, Food Needs Improvement"
My mother-in-law likes living here. Activities are okay. Food lacks variety and taste sometimes. Staff is friendly, keeps place clean. Recommend overall.

"Positive tour: clean, kind staff, but distant location concern."
I had a good tour of this community. It looked well-maintained and clean. The staff was kind and gave me helpful information. Overall, it was a nice experience. Factors like location played a role, and this community was a bit far for me to travel.

"Great facility with friendly staff and nice lunch experience"
We really liked it. The rooms were a good size, though we only saw one or two from the hallway. The admissions/marketing director and nurse were very friendly. We also had lunch there, and it was great.

"Not suitable for higher nursing care needs. Clean and friendly."
Not a true nursing home, but it wasn't right for him. He needs nursing care. I thought it would be nice, but he needs help with showering and dressing. I felt he needed more care. The place was clean and friendly.

"Great care with minor issues and high costs, but helpful staff"
After touring the facility, we were impressed. It’s close to mom’s old community and family, which was important to us since we live far away and can't visit often. The facility sent staff to mom’s home a few times to assess and help her get used to the new place, which made the transition smoother. Even though it was tough to get mom to move, the staff were great at easing her into it. The facility is bright, safe, and pleasant, and the staff are very helpful. One issue we have is that the entrance isn't monitored well, so it’s easy for visitors to come and go. Mom still talks about going back home, but we’ve been told this is normal. Her health and cognition have improved with regular meals, medications, and social activities. Any concerns we’ve had about her care were taken seriously by the staff. We appreciate that she can see a doctor, podiatrist, and hairdresser on-site. We can’t judge the activities much since we’re not there often, but we hope mom is encouraged to join in. The cost of care is high, but the staff has been helpful in finding other payment options like VA benefits.
