"Very Nice Place with Helpful Staff"
I thought Friends Home & Village was a very nice place. The woman who helped us on the tour was really nice. They were our second choice.

"Assisted Living Facility Ups Costs Annually, Too Expensive for Fixed Budget"
This place looks pretty sweet and everyone's friendly. Plus, the costs aren't too bad at first. But, if you or your family member is stuck on a set budget, this could be a problem. The cost goes up a lot every year. My mom moved in at the year's end, and by January, they were already hiking up her rent--after she was only there for a few months. It goes up 3% each year. It might seem okay, but the monthly payment includes food, so the 3% increase hits her meals too. Keep this in mind when you're making choices. If we wanted to move her out to a cheaper place after only a few years, we'd lose the initial payment, making her first two years super costly. My mom's pretty young and will probably live a long time. It's a shame that the bosses don't think ahead to keep the people living there happy by making them feel like they matter. Instead, they just keep charging more. Maybe they want to keep replacing folks to keep the incoming payments going. They know we're stuck and they're taking advantage of it. Not cool at all.

"Cramped facility lacking kitchen or weekend church rides"
The place is just too cramped, doesn't even have a tiny kitchen, and forget about catching a ride to church on weekends.

"Rent Increases Cause Hardship for Fixed-Income Residents"
While the prices initially seem affordable, they go up every year. In just 15 months, my mother’s rent increased by $600 annually. For those with fixed incomes, this can be a significant burden, and the staff’s response was indifferent.

"Feels like home with personalized care"
Everyone here is very friendly, and the facility is well-maintained. The location is excellent, and it's a great value. Since it's a smaller place, the care feels more personalized. When you walk in, it feels like you're entering someone's home, not just another retirement center.

"Friendly, cozy place with personalized care and great value"
The people here are super friendly and the place is well-kept. It's in a great location and offers a lot of value for the money. Since it's a smaller facility, the care feels more personal. When you walk in, it feels more like entering a cozy home than a typical retirement center.

"Charming Assisted Living in Newtown"
This place is a mix of a charming old building with assisted care, along with spacious apartments for more independent residents. It’s located in Newtown, not NTSq, downtown, right across from the library. Dee visited on 03/15.
