"Great director, clean facility, and good care despite restrictions"
The director was great. Our loved one stayed briefly, and the director made sure we had a good experience. She seemed happy with her caregivers. Even though there were Covid restrictions, limiting activities and making meals available only in rooms, they were clear about what was offered. Any issues were promptly addressed. The place appeared clean overall. Although we couldn't visit inside, our loved one had no complaints.

"Glen Mills Senior Living Deplorable and Neglectful Assistance"
I want to share my terrible experience at Glen Mills Senior Living; findings here can be confirmed through the PA Department of Human Services or PA State Police. Never will I forget the lack of care my father experienced. I personally found him struggling to breathe. He hadn't been given his doctor-prescribed albuterol because no one had checked on him, defying doctor's orders. No one had even noticed his struggle to breathe due to fluid build-up in his lungs. To make matters worse, he hadn't been taken to the Emergency Room as prescribed. I had to transport him myself, while we're spending over $6,000 a month for their service. The senior officials of Five Star, the parent company of Glen Mills, were no better. Upon my mother's return from the hospital, we reported incident after incident of negligence. One alarming incident involved a nurse forgetting to turn on the air compressor during my mother's breathing treatment, leaving her gasping for air. Both the facility and the corporation cynically denied any wrongdoings, even as I eyewitnessed the event. Despite our numerous complaints, the PA Department of Human Services failed to act. Adding insult to our grievances, we recently found out about a woman who choked to death at the facility since no staff member was trained to perform the Heimlich Maneuver or call for help promptly. Sadly, the level of care at Glen Mills remains deplorable, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The operators even had our 91-and-a-half-year-old mother evicted because we could no longer fund the fight for justice. Our new choice, Sunrise Assisted Living, surpasses Glen Mills in every way. All our complaints are now under investigation by the PA Department of Human Services. If you're considering Glen Mills, I urge you to research it thoroughly. Despite the change in ownership, they still need to be held accountable for their actions. Choose a different facility for your loved one's needs. Good luck, and God bless.

"Disappointing Care and Lack of Responsibility at Senior Living Facility"
I'm totally let down by this facility! They did a poor job caring for my dad. Despite the doctor's instructions for his health care, they failed to follow through consistently! Basic things like showers and overall cleanliness were often overlooked too! I raised these issues numerous times, but there was no improvement! They ignored my dad's incontinence problem and due to this, he even ended up with a bedsore. Many times, I ended up caring for my dad myself because they were neglecting him. The head of the facility admitted that they messed up with my dad's care and said he'd talk to the nurses to correct it. But these mess-ups resulted in pain, humiliation, and health complications for my dad. The facility doesn't have enough staff and always relies on agency nurses to fill the void. The call bells are ringing constantly and go unanswered for prolonged periods of time. Nobody is there to check on people or respond to the bells! The level of care my dad received was just not acceptable! We moved him last week and he's already doing so much better! Glen Mills Senior Living should be ashamed!

"Frustrated Daughter Sees No Change in Elderly Care"
I can't advise you to use this home care. They let the people living there sleep in pee-soaked beds all night. When you ask them to walk your family member to the bathroom, they say they'll do it and claim things will get better. Sadly, nothing really improves.

"Consider Other Options: Review Reveals Poor Staffing and Service"
This assisted living facility's staff are regularly unhappy and often harsh. As an observer with no family connections, I'm able to spot their attitudes. The people serving food in the dining room are the worst - always curt and never friendly. The meals and service in this place are awful. They do have some nice and helpful workers, but they're the exception, not the rule. I've seen other facilities where the food is good and the staff are pleasant- but not here. It's tough to even imagine what it must be like for the people here who can't advocate for themselves. The ones who can might assume all similar facilities are as bad as this one, but that's not the case. Chronic staff shortages compromise the already subpar quality of care here. On a brighter note, the place is clean, but that's pretty much the only good thing. They have a few activities but it's mostly the same stuff repeated every week. There’s not much to do. I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere before settling your relatives here. This facility needs to reevaluate its hiring policies, starting in the dining room, and ensure it has enough caregivers to meet the needs of the residents. You're probably not going to receive much of a welcome when you walk in, and that should raise a red flag. I get to see the things they try to hide from families. Please, think twice before selecting this place.

"Abysmal service and care: Consider other Assisted Living options"
Many times, I've personally witnessed staff at this place acting terribly and even rudely. Since I'm not related to any residents, I get to see all this mess. The workers in the dining room are always grouchy and unkind. I can't recall ever meeting a friendly person there, and the food and service are just awful. Sure, there are a few nice and helpful employees, but they're pretty rare. I've visited other places where the staff is great and the food is tasty, but not this one. I feel so bad for the folks who can't express themselves here—those who can might think all places like this are just as bad, but I promise you, that's not the case. They're constantly short-staffed, which only worsens the residents' care. The one good thing I can say is that the place is clean, but that's about it. Their daily activities are almost the same every week - it's so boring. Please, look around before you decide to put your loved one in this place. Whoever's in charge here really needs to rethink their hiring, especially in the dining room, and make sure they have enough staff to take care of everyone. There's hardly any warm greeting when you come in the building, so that's your first red flag. I see the things they don't want the families to know about. My advice? Look someplace else, please.

"Facility Fails to Deliver Adequate Care: A Family's Nightmare"
We made a really terrible choice going for this assisted living facility. I can't tell you how many times the staff made me feel like I was not welcomed during my visits. They always gave me these uneasy stares, maybe because we knew about the poor care that was going on. We spent hours trying to work with the staff to improve stuff. Like answering an urgent call bell instead of disregarding it for over an hour. As the care level required went up, they swore they could handle it, possibly just to get more cash, and they just messed up horribly. This place really makes my blood boil every time I think about it. I absolutely won't recommend it to anyone who cares about their loved ones.

"Avoid This Facility At All Costs"
Choosing this facility was a huge regret for my family. Every visit was awkward. The staff constantly gave us dirty looks. I guess they didn't appreciate us pointing out how terrible their care was, no matter how hard we tried to work together to improve things. We repeatedly pointed out ignored emergency alarms and more, but nothing changed. Even though they promised they could handle the advanced level of care my loved one needed (probably because it meant more money for them), they were a massive failure. It makes me angry every time I think about it. I strongly advise against placing any loved ones here.

"Serious Negligence at Glen Mills Senior Home Results in Death"
My Aunt stayed at Glen Mills Senior Living for a mere 3 weeks. This was after Glen Mills asserted that they were adequately capable of providing the care she needed. Yet, less than 4 weeks after her arrival, they rushed my Aunt to the local hospital with respiratory failure. She was diagnosed with a severe flu and pneumonia, illnesses Glen Mills's medical team had failed to observe. Unfortunately, she passed away 5 days later. In response, The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Bureau of Human Services Licensing, conducted an investigation into the facility, and found Glen Mills negligent in their duty of care towards my Aunt. Legal steps are now being contemplated by our family.

"High Cost but Worthwhile Respite Stay at Glen Mills"
My mom had a good time during her 10-day stay at Glen Mills. The only downside for us was the high cost, but it seems similar to other places for seniors. I would really suggest Glen Mills to others. It gave me peace of mind while I was away. Mom, at 93, wasn't comfortable being alone at home while I was on vacation.

"Beautiful Facility with Lacking Care Services"
This place looks stunning, like a fancy vacation spot. Food's good, laundry's done right. But the problem? They're not checking on people enough or giving proper care. They checked out my relative themselves and said they could handle it, but they didn't even notice she was sick after just two weeks. They have a strict checklist for who they'll take in, but they don't consider each person's needs and whether they fit in with the community. If you're pretty independent, it's nice, but not for anyone needing medical help.

"Beautiful Facility but Lacks Adequate Medical Care"
This place is stunning, like a vacation spot, really nice. The meals are fantastic, and they do a great job with the laundry. But the care provided isn't up to par. They aren't monitoring patients enough or maybe they don't really care. They checked out and evaluated my grandma themselves, not some outside company. They said she would get the care she needed there. She was only there for a fortnight, they didn't even catch that she was ill though. They're all about yes or no assessments, they don't consider the specific case or the community and how it fits the individual. They just look at whether they can legally accept them. It's a fantastic place if you're pretty self-sufficient, but not if you need medical attention.

"Mom loves Glen Mills!"
From the first time I talked to the representative at Glen Mills, I knew this was the right place for my mom. I toured the facility and met the staff, who were all very helpful. They invited me to bring my mom for a visit, which I did, and she was impressed. The cost was reasonable, and my mom had a beautiful room with plenty of space. The food was good too, which is a big plus! At her previous place, the food was awful, and they had it brought in from different restaurants. I paid $10,500 for her to share a room and eat bad food. At Glen Mills, she had her own room, delicious food, and the staff was attentive. The activities were appropriate for her age, and the staff didn’t treat the residents like little kids. My mom can be very demanding, but they kept up with her and made sure she felt pampered.

"Wonderful Experience with Glen Mills Senior Living!"
Everything about our time at Glen Mills Senior Living has been amazing. I would definitely recommend them. They might need to train a few of the caregivers on how to use oxygen properly. I know that every place can have small problems, and we had one here with a technician who was supposed to fix something in my mom’s room but didn’t do it and was a little rude. However, we brought this issue to the right people at Glen Mills, and they took care of it quickly. We haven’t had any more problems since. We are very happy with our experience!
