"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff is friendly, especially . However, frequent nursing staff changes cause confusion with medications and care. The pharmacy overcharges, and the evening staff needs improvement.

"Assisted Living Falls Short on Entertainment"
Besides friendly staff, the entertainment options and overall living experience were disappointing. On the lower secured unit (like Tier 3), there's only a long table, puzzles, a small radio, and a TV. No access to the music room. Not worth the cost. Some items meant for psych patients were accessible. Safety wasn't as expected. More activities and better staffing needed.

"Not the Best Fit for Our Loved One"
Our family visited Independence Court of Monroeville in person, and the tour was pleasant. However, after comparing it to another community, we realized it wouldn’t be the best fit for our loved one.

"Great Care Despite Staffing Issues"
We give this place 4 stars because they seem to be short-staffed sometimes. The cleanliness gets 4 stars too, mainly because my brother’s room could be cleaner, but it’s never dirty or smelly. The staff is always polite and takes good care of my brother. His meds are always on time, and the nurses know a lot about his condition and needs. They always tell me right away if there’s a problem. My brother never complains about the food, and it’s been good when I’ve eaten there. The activities are where you notice the staffing shortage the most. My brother doesn’t always want to join in, but the staff usually convinces him to participate.

"Staff neglect, not recommended for family members."
Don't choose Independence Court; staff neglects residents; wouldn't recommend.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
My family member enjoyed the food and activities. They cleaned weekly, but not enough. Hair and clothes weren't washed regularly. Medication problem with costly refills. Staff turnover caused confusion. Nice staff, lovely location.

"Not bad, but visit loved ones often"
It was a learning process for us. We had to pick a place without seeing it because of COVID. The aides and nurses work very hard but are short-staffed. Overall, not a bad place for the price. Just visit your loved ones often.

"Poor Communication and Limited Staff Interaction"
The communication was really bad, and I could only talk to one person during the whole 3 weeks my loved one stayed there. I wouldn't suggest this place to others based on our experience.

"Great Staff and Activities, Some Clarification Needed"
All the staff members have been awesome, and the care they give is great too. We recently had to call hospice, so there’s some confusion about what hospice should do and what the aides should do. A little more clarification for the aides would help. The menu looks great, but our loved one is on a pureed diet. Now that the barriers are lifted, activities and volunteers are back. There’s arts and crafts in memory care, and our loved one especially loves decorating and eating cupcakes when they bake them.

"Abysmal Staff Attitude, High Charges and Poor Room Conditions"
Most of the staff at this facility aren't friendly. They seem to spend their whole day in the break room, avoiding work. Whenever you ask them for help, 'it's not my job' is the standard response. he, the Admission Director, is the only one trying. Despite her best efforts, the rooms in the facility are nowhere near the quality depicted in online photos. This shouldn't come as a shock when you visit - just ask to see a few random rooms. They all desperately need major repairs. To top it off, they charge for everything. With their staff shortage, they're now even charging $3.00 for each meal to be delivered to your room.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
I want to share that my family member fell, causing more health problems. Communication with the staff was okay. My past relative enjoyed this place.

"Look elsewhere for better care."
I'd suggest checking out other places. At first, they were nice and friendly. But things changed once my loved one moved in. My loved one didn't want to come back after going to the hospital. I think they should change the administrator. It did look like they renovated recently.
