"Nursing Staff at Sunrise Assisted Living Falls Short"

If your parent is sick and needs help getting better, avoid Sunrise. But if they just need a place to stay, it's probably okay. The nursing staff is unresponsive and hard to work with.

"Mixed Experience with Sunrise of North Wales"

My family member lives at Sunrise of North Wales. Moving in was easy, and the staff was helpful. Overall, most staff members are kind and helpful, though some seem uninterested. The managers are knowledgeable and have good plans for recovery. However, they only communicate with our family when we ask. Some nurses don’t share information unless we ask specific questions. The Executive Director is kind and always ready to help. I recommend their Physical Therapist. He communicates well and has worked hard with my loved one. The meals are not great. Breakfast choices are limited, and my loved one eats the same breakfast every day. Dinner options are few, and the quality isn’t good. The meats are tough and hard to chew. Even the backup choices aren’t always available. The food needs improvement. The activities are good. The cost for care is very high. My loved one has improved a lot, but we still pay the same amount. There should be different care levels with corresponding costs. I would recommend Sunrise of North Wales to others, but they should be aware of the food quality and ask questions about care and progress.

"Friendly staff, clean rooms, varied activities at Sunrise of North Wales"

The staff at Sunrise of North Wales is friendly. They know my father well, including his habits. Communication with the family is prompt, usually within 24 hours. Housekeeping is good, and my father's room is always clean with new furniture and fresh paint. The meals could be better; the meats are often dry. However, they offer multiple food options per meal, which my father appreciates. There are plenty of activities listed on their monthly calendar, though my father hasn't participated much. Overall, I would recommend Sunrise of North Wales to family and friends.

"High-rise Assisted Living Feels Impersonal; Memory Care Concerns"

I didn't like this place much. It's a tall building, and it didn't feel friendly. The part for people with memory issues was way up on the fifth floor. I worried my family member might feel alone there.

"Great apartments and location; positive feedback on Sunrise of North Wales"

The main reason we chose this place was because of the size of the apartment and its location. We haven't tried the meals or dining service much, but it looks like our parents are liking it. From what we've seen so far at Sunrise of North Wales, we would definitely suggest it to other families.

"Mixed Feelings About Sunrise of North Wales"

Sunrise of North Wales was just okay. When we got there, I felt uneasy. The place wasn't very clean, and it didn't suit my loved one—it was too large.

"Best of Three: Warm and Cozy Assisted Living Facility"

I visited three assisted living places that fit my budget, and I liked this one the most. It felt warm and cozy.

Our family toured Sunrise community; it was a good experience.

"Quality of Meals Declined, Hit-or-Miss Assistance, Satisfactory Physical Therapy"

Our loved one enjoyed great meals at first, but lately, they've changed hands and quality has dropped. Sometimes, when our loved one asks for help or has a request, it's a toss-up whether it gets done promptly. The call button response times during the day are okay, but at night, they're not good, which worries us. Despite all this, our loved one is happy with the physical therapy.

"Disappointing Experience at Sunrise Assisted Living, Friendly Staff Though"

Sunrise was one of our top picks, but got a call saying they didn't remember us. We toured twice, but they said we weren't on the list. Lunch was just plain hotdogs, no toppings. Staff were nice, place was nice.

"Avoid Kyffin Grove: Serious Quality Decline and Poor Management"

When this place first opened, it was fantastic. We were really happy to place our relative here. However, ever since Sage Senior Living took over and renamed it Kyffin Grove, the quality has majorly declined. The manager seems to care more about other things rather than the residents' needs. Our family member gets very little social contact, and it's also really unclean - there are stains on the carpets and seating. I strongly advise against sending your loved one to this place!

"Don't Bring Your Loved One Here; It's Not Trustworthy"

My experience with this place was good when The Arbor Company managed it. But, after Sage Management stepped in, all aspects worsened significantly. The quality of care and staff reliability varies. There's no obvious leadership or direction. Communication between the managers, employees, and families is intolerable. There's a strong sense of distrust and discomfort among the caregiving staff and management. This negative feeling is felt by everyone and deeply impacts the trust levels of residents and their caretakers. If you want a place that provides high-quality care, a lively atmosphere and where your family member would feel secure and well looked after, you'd better keep looking. This place isn't it.

"Budget Concerns; Unsure about Current Quality after Name Change"

We visited this place back in 2015. It seemed really nice, but it cost more than what we could afford then. I'm not sure how it is now since they changed the name.

"Significant Drop in Quality at Assisted Living Facility"

This assisted living place used to be really good when it was run by Solana. But ever since Sage Senior Living took over, things have really gone downhill. It's pretty clear that nobody's really watching out for how good a job they're doing with taking care of the people who live there. The whole building just doesn't seem that clean anymore and there's this smell that wasn't there before. In the unit where they care for people with memory issues, there's this constant smell of pee. The staff don't seem like they’re really engaging with the residents like they used to when it was still Solana. A lot of the staff are new all the time. The laundry service isn't great either. I've found clothes from other residents in my family member's room a couple of times. Even though they're supposed to mark all the clothing with the owner's name, that hardly ever happens. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

"Not happy with inconsistent staff and poor care at Kyffin Grove"

I really didn't like the experience my family member had at Kyffin Grove. The workers and bosses keep changing a lot, so things are not always the same. It seems like they can't hold onto their staff for very long. Plus, I don't think they take very good care of the people living there. I would tell people not to bring their family here.

"Top-notch care in a friendly community."

This was a nice community. The staff was friendly and caring, which we liked. It was reassuring to see how clean the community was. The meals seemed very good. We would recommend this community to other families.

"Newer assisted living community, shared rooms, comparable pricing, nice."

It's a pretty new place which is cool. They only had rooms where you share when we checked. We found another place nearer to us with similar prices and it was also new.

"False Illusions in Assisted Living Facility"

Don't get tricked by their words. Our loved one was treated terribly by those in charge. If your relative requires any level of care, don't count on receiving what you paid for. You need to stay mindful of how your family member is cared for and treated. The facility seemed great at first, but it soon declined due to poor maintenance. Basic things like daily housekeeping and laundry are often overlooked and thorough cleanings are needed regularly. This is no place for your loved ones to comfortably spend their old age. The bosses may try to convince you that they treat everyone like family but don't let that fool you. To them, it's all about profit, not the residents. There are some really admirable staff members, but the high turnover rate is troubling. We regret ever believing this could be a suitable 'home' for our family member.

"Concerned Daughter Hopes for a More Attentive Care Facility"

It looks like the best employees are leaving. Ever since He left, it's hard getting any answers from the nursing staff. Usually, asking the top nurse simply leaves you hoping she understands your query. We both terribly miss Brittany because she always made sure to have chats with mom in the mornings. Mom keeps griping about the food and the bistro often lacks snacks when I visit in the evenings. Some front desk staff brings their own snacks for the residents due to the shortage. Mom's room is cleaner now after I complained about it a while ago. The care workers are generally okay, but it's clear some are just there for a paycheck. Considering what mom's paying, we both expect much better. I'm writing this in hopes things will get better, otherwise, we'll start looking elsewhere.

"Steer Clear of Solana - Appalling Conditions and Dishonest Staff"

My grandparents are very important to me and I've always taken good care of them. When they started getting older, we thought Solana Assisted Living facility would be a perfect place for them. Things were good at first until the management changed hands. Things quickly got out of control - the center smelled dirty, like it hadn't been cleaned properly. We discovered items of clothing were missing from my grandparents' room, suggesting theft. The staff was far from helpful; they seemed indifferent to our concerns. Seeing the rapid deterioration in conditions, we decided to move my grandparents to another home. The moving day was the worst. My mom saw some staff members our grandparents' furniture. What's worse, they lied outright to her about it. I would strongly advise anyone against sending their loved ones to this facility.

"Solana Horsham"

My uncle and aunt needed to move to assisted living because my aunt’s health was getting worse. 24-hour care in New York was too expensive. Solana Horsham, closer to family, turned out to be the best choice both for its cost and because it felt like a happy place with caring employees and residents. The staff was incredibly kind, the food was good, and the snack bar for in-between meals was a thoughtful touch. The residents on all floors seemed well taken care of and happy. Many of them gave us positive feedback, which helped us make our decision. If your family needs assisted living, don’t hesitate: ask for Migdalia Cosante, and you will be very satisfied.

"Mixed Experience at Solana Assisted Living Facility"

My mom's been at Solana for about two months. The staff there are awesome! The place looks nice, super clean, and everyone's friendly. I think my mom's getting good care. But, there are some issues. It's been tough getting paperwork sorted for insurance. And my mom isn't thrilled with the food (she's picky, but a little improvement wouldn't hurt). Besides that, we're grateful for finding such a good place with great people. I'll update in a month to see if things improve.

"Trust me, Solana has it all!"

Trust me, Solana is a wonderful "gift" for your loved one! The "NEW Solana," now under Arbor Company, has everything you need. My mom has been there for a little over a year, and I've seen all the ups, downs, and changes in this new facility, which is just over a year old itself! I probably know everyone who's commented before because I've been so involved. One thing is certain: this management team truly listens to family members and has an open-door policy. No concern goes unheard. The new director even keeps a picture of her smiling grandma on her desk to inspire the staff to put that same smile on all the residents' faces. And trust me, they do! Whether it's the amazing nursing staff, the friendly staff at the welcome desk, or the support staff, everyone knows, respects, and showers love on my mom. Even the housekeeper sometimes stays a little longer in Mom's room when she’s excited to chat. Only a truly caring staff provides the "extra" care we want for our loved ones. As for programs, they really try to match activities to each resident. They even classify residents by "gem stones"—ask them about it. It's a nice and empowering way to "meet them where they are. The biggest unique offering at Solana, and what made my decision, is the Bridges section. Unlike other facilities that just have an "assisted" section and an "Alzheimer's section," Solana built a beautiful "transition section" called Bridges. It's for those who need more than just assistance but aren't yet in need of full Alzheimer's care. The activities are tailored to them, keeping them engaged in a warm, safe, and stylish space. Overall, I think it's a "win!" Do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself.

"Get Clear Answers Before Choosing This Facility"

This place could use improvement. People who work here don't stick around long. For a while now, they haven't had an Activities Director who knows how to connect with the people living here. Right now, they don't have one at all, but they're apparently trying to find someone. A new company is in charge now, which has also led to some issues. They've replaced LPN's, who are really knowledgeable, with med techs who don't have the same skill set. The folks who look after the residents here often seem distant and unkind.

"Poor Treatment and Unkept Promises at Solana!"

The folks at Solana are far from professional. My mom paid a deposit for a room and did everything they told her to do. But right before her move-in date, they suddenly said her room was already taken. They didn't give us any warning. There was just zero communication. Their communication was bad from the beginning. They'd take forever to return phone calls. They gave us wrong info. They didn't keep their promises. If they're this bad before a person moves in, I can't imagine how they'll behave after.

"Beautiful Setting but Staff Issues Linger"

This place is pretty, rooms and activities are nice, but staff troubles. Two daughters organize meetings for residents' families due to many problems. Staff disrespect is a big issue, manager doesn't control them. Residents' families complain, but not much change yet. Some staff are good, especially med techs, kitchen, and dining room servers. But CNAs need better management. Food quality varies. Manager needs improvement. Few residents, might affect services. Second floor is mostly empty. Considering options. Dementia area not experienced.

"Decent place, though facing administrative challenges"

This place is pretty decent, it's tidy and the folks working here are welcoming. My mom seems to be having a good time here so far. But, there's been some rough spots because they're adjusting to new management. All the problems have been talked about, and they're working to fix them right now. Once they've resolved these issues, I'd definitely suggest this place to others.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Experience"

Some staff were nice, some not so much. Mostly friendly. New place, new staff, takes time to improve. Care was okay. Expensive but no comparison. Mom improved, wanted to leave. Food wasn't liked.
