"Overall positive experience."
My family member lives at Chestnut Ridge Wallingford. Some staff are great, others are lazy. Housekeeping is fantastic. Moving in was easy, but communication about needs could improve. Overall, it's a good place. I'd recommend it to others.

"Poor Care and Medication Handling at Assisted Living Facility"
My relative was really unhappy with how they were cared for in this facility, particularly the way their medication needs were handled. I personally think it's best if you just cross this place off your list - it's true what they say, you get what you pay for. They have staff who don’t know what they're doing and they didn't administer the prescribed medicine properly'.

"Care Declined, Staff Turnover, Unpleasant Odors, Poor Food Quality, Disappointing Experience"
We moved our family member in, but the care has been getting worse. Lots of staff leaving. The couch in the memory care area smells like pee, and they just put a blanket over it. The food isn't good either. You might want to check out other places.

"Assisted Living Facility Shows Promise with New Management"
I used to think this place was bad, but now I'm giving them another chance because the new management needs time to fix things. Hopefully, things get better. I'll update my review if they do. And sorry for not giving them a chance before.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Staffing Improvement"
This place is pretty nice, and it's not as expensive as some others. But there was this one worker who was super rude and loud to my spouse. They really should work on getting better staff.

"Underwhelming Assisted Living Facility Tour in Hot Conditions"
Our family visited this place in person, but we left feeling really let down. It seemed like they turned an old Days Inn into the facility, and when we toured, it was scorching hot outside, over 100 degrees. We saw the residents just sitting outside in their wheelchairs. It didn't make a good impression on us at all.

"Clean, Friendly Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
This place is super clean, and the staff is really nice. They could use more fun stuff to do, though. Housekeeping rocks! I'd tell my friends and family about it.

"Disappointing Tour Due to Filthy Conditions and Unpleasant Smells"
Our visit was terrible and I advise others not to go. The place was shockingly dirty and we felt like leaving immediately. Were it not for the kind guide, we probably would have. The pervasive urine smell from residents being wheeled past us was particularly off-putting. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing tour.

"Unhappy family experiences poor care at Chestnut Ridge"
Our family wasn't happy at all with Chestnut Ridge. They messed up on the meds for our dear one. Plus, they didn't really pay attention to him or seem to understand his health issues. The price tag is hefty, but now we see that it's true—you get the service you pay for.

"Beautiful place, loved by residents!"
The place was beautiful. I talked to some of the people living there before I went in, and they all seemed to love it. The tour went very well, and a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders. If I have to bring my mom here, I would feel good about it. I will look into our finances and start the paperwork for veterans benefits. We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks since my mom is still in rehab.

"Hidden Gem for Senior Living in Delaware County!"
This senior residence is a hidden gem in Delaware County. Located at the edge of Chester City and Wallingford, the property is lined with trees. As you approach the main entrance, the country feel with seating, rocking chairs, and beautiful green bushes blocks out the noise from the traffic, which is a big plus. The public areas are nicely decorated, and the receptionist is always helpful and friendly, offering refreshments while you wait. The dining room feels like a fine dining restaurant. I stayed for lunch and was impressed by the many menu choices available. What really stood out to me was that the Residence at Chestnut Ridge didn’t have that “old smell” you might expect. It was a lovely experience, and after two surprise visits and one official tour, I decided to apply. The staff was fantastic to work with, introducing me to everyone involved, and they were all warm and welcoming. If you’re looking for a safe, clean, and caring community, Chestnut Ridge is the place!

"Mixed feelings but overall positive experience in assisted living facility."
The place looks nice, but my mother-in-law's room needs better cleaning. She thinks the food is like hospital food. She joins in some activities. The staff treat her well. I'd suggest this place.

"Lovely community"
The lady who showed us around was really friendly and smart. This place is super clean, and they're fixing it up. We thought about picking it, but I didn't want to move my wife's things. The community we went with already had stuff ready for her.

"Super friendly staff, spacious rooms, and great common areas!"
The staff was super friendly during my tour. There was a special event happening for the residents, and I know my mom would enjoy it here. The rooms are really spacious, and I liked the different common areas my mom could use. I’m planning to come back for a lunch tour with her.

"A Warm Community"
I visited Chestnut Ridge with my mom and instantly liked it. It wasn't just how it looked, but seeing folks chatting and staff being friendly. There were activities happening, and ladies hanging out in the lobby it seemed like a place Mom would enjoy. It's great because Mom could still do her own thing, but with help nearby if she needed it, and she could make friends with other residents. Sadly, Mom passed away before we could move her in, but I'll definitely suggest Chestnut Ridge to others. I wish we had decided to move sooner.

"Moving forward with Chestnut Ridge"
The young lady, gave us a great tour while we were looking for a place for my parents. She was very informative, answered all of our questions, and knew a lot about the admission process. She also explained all the pricing clearly. I feel really comfortable with this community and am excited to make arrangements for my parents to stay at Chestnut Ridge.

"Discounted Price Not Worth Mom's Care and My Peace of Mind"
When given a discount to join, I had a bad feeling. I'd seen a bunch of other places before this one and they didn't seem as clean, and something just felt off compared to others. I only chose it because they gave me a lower price when they saw I was going to place my parent somewhere else. I was really upset they messed with my feelings and desperation for my mom's care. It's such a terrible way to treat people when they are worried and scrambling to ensure the safety of their parent. This place is a mess, it’s not clean, they don’t have enough workers, there’s no working together amongst the staff, and they just saying things to make you feel better about your family member's care. They always provide incorrect updates or just outright fabricate them. I've had this happen on multiple occasions. My mom’s clothing would go missing and her bedsheets disappeared and no one even cared to find them. All your money seems to disappear without knowing where it's going. The people caring for her seem unhappy and they're constantly changing. It’s not a safe place for anyone’s parent. The stress I experience worrying about my mom's safety at home has just been replaced with another kind of stress now that she’s at Chestnut Ridge. I’m desperately trying to find a better place for mom. I need to feel peace, something I can’t find at Chestnut Ridge, and I'm not the only one in family who feels this way.

"A Little More Clarity About Pricing Would Help"
They should be a bit clearer at the start. I was given a price, but they didn’t explain that the cost would be higher because of the level of care my loved one needed. Everything else about the place was great, and she really likes living there.

"Medicine Pickup, Bad Food, Boring Activities Need Improvement"
This place needs more staff. You're expected to get your own medicine from the wellness center, they don't deliver it to you. The food tastes really bad and there aren't many options. The activities don't excite me or keep me engaged. However, I feel like I might not fit in with the regular crowd.

"Great Improvement in Care at Chestnut Ridge"
My mother-in-law moved to Chestnut Ridge from another place. She used to live in Bucks County with her husband until he passed away in October. After he died, we moved her closer to her family, and we’re very happy with the change. Even though she has advanced Alzheimer's, she seems more alert, less anxious, and more communicative now. The staff is friendly and helpful to everyone. The rooms are spacious and clean. We’re happy with the care she’s getting.

"Dad's happy, and it meets our needs."
We haven't had any problems with the care. My dad seems to like living here. It’s affordable, and since he’s elderly, he doesn't have to live alone. They keep in touch with my brother, and he says there haven't been any issues. The staff is easy to talk to and answers our questions quickly, without long waits. They share information with us. Considering the costs, I think it’s pretty good. It meets our needs, and the location is convenient, right off a major highway. They have outings, and I believe my dad went out with them once. He’s made friends there, and they even take him to the supermarket and use a little van for doctor appointments.

"Caring Assisted Living: Dad's Respite Care Experience"
Our family had a mostly good time at the assisted living place. There were a few bumpy moments when we first got there because the staff didn't talk to each other well. Some things we expected to happen didn't until we reminded them. When Dad arrived, they put him in a temporary room, and we thought they'd move him to his real room, but they wanted us to do it. Probably another communication mix-up. Dad stayed there for a couple of days to rest after hurting his shoulder in a fall. He couldn't even move from a chair to the bathroom by himself. But the staff took good care of him and helped whenever he needed it. They have people there who help with physical and occupational therapy, which Dad found really useful. He's still doing exercises at home every day because of what he learned there. It's made it easier for him to move around on his own. He liked the food there, even though he joked that they're always eating. He even gained back some weight he'd lost, which is good, but now we have to work on keeping it on at home. They would come get him from his room to go eat, which was better than bringing food to him. Dad didn't do much of the activities they had there, but that was his choice, not because the place was bad. There was one time when some staff on the weekend didn't treat Dad very nicely. It only happened once, and I'm not sure if anyone told the bosses about it. Overall, we don't have much to complain about. If Dad needs to move somewhere because he can't be on his own anymore, we'd think about this place again.
