"Concerns Over Care and Lost Items at Facility"
The manager at the facility is really forceful. She doesn’t seem to stand up for her team or hear what they have to say. The person in charge of activities also helps out as an aide and decorates, but she doesn’t have much patience with the people living there. Instead of letting them do things their own way, she just does it for them. There’s a side to her that’s pretty worrying. Just showing a movie or a football match doesn’t really count as a planned activity. They’ve also misplaced personal stuff, like clothes. I’ve even seen other people wearing my relative’s clothes. We gave them an alarm for the bed and chair to let us know if my relative got up, but they lost it and didn’t use it right.

"Assisted Living Facility Provides Exceptional Care and Support"
We chose this place because they treated our family well before admitting mom. During her stay, they communicated excellently and were very accommodating. Despite mom's declining health, they alleviated much of our anxiety and made her stay comfortable. They even assisted with funeral arrangements, showing empathy and making a difficult time easier. We highly recommend A Place for Mom and Saucon Valley Manor for anyone seeking care for a loved one.

"Attentive Staff, Adequate Care, Advocate for Your Loved One"
The staff is nice, and they take good care of everyone. I think they don't have enough people working sometimes. They fix problems pretty quickly when you tell them about them. But you need to make sure you speak up for your family member. I go see my mom almost every day, and I think it helps make sure she gets good care.

"Disappointments in Senior Care: Premium Price, Zero Care Offers"
The big bosses make this place seem great; it feels like the perfect spot for your family member. But it doesn't take long to see that the workers talking to folks living here and their family aren't nice. Plus, they don't seem to care about anyone. I rated this a 1-star for a few reasons. First, when I did get to see my family member's room and the shared spaces on their floor, they weren't clean. Besides that, big items like a pricey walker just vanished. After asking about it, a worker said I should've told them sooner. But I asked how I would know it was missing because I wasn't allowed to go where my family member was living. Then I pointed out it'd be hard to move a walker from one place to another without people noticing. Even though we had to label all items, most clothes in the closet weren't ours. Worst of all, my family member's glasses, hearing aids, and phone went missing. This lack of care for personal stuff says a lot about how clean the place is. When I insisted on visiting my family member's actual living floor (not just a common area), I realized that there wasn't any decent care. As soon as I got there, all the workers were on their phones playing games or watching TV. Their responses to my questions were rude. When I asked something else later, they ignored me. My love one was in a memory care area. This place's idea of 'quality' care was to park everyone in a wheelchair against a wall and put a big table in front of them. Basically, they locked everyone in place all day. Each meal only had one choice, which was microwave food on a paper plate. No one helped the residents eat, and there were no activities for them. This answers questions #3 and #4 above. It'd be fine to pay a lot for quality service, but this place charges a lot without giving any decent service.

"Inconsistent care and cleanliness; husband contracted sepsis; not recommended."
Make sure the staff at the assisted living facility are taking care of your loved ones properly. Check if they are helping them out of bed and feeding them regularly. Also, ensure they are doing laundry and keeping their clothes clean. Unfortunately, my husband didn't receive adequate care here. When I visited, he was wearing someone else's clothes and his dirty laundry was left in the closet. Moreover, he developed sepsis during his stay. Avoid Saucon Valley Manor.

"Mixed Feelings: Decent Facility but Poor Communication"
SVM seems like an option for me, mainly because of finances. The facility is alright, but I hope to find better. The person who interviewed me was friendly, informative, and nice. However, I wasn't happy with the staff's communication. My appointment wasn't officially confirmed despite leaving two voicemails and an email. I only got a final confirmation on the morning of the tour. Unprepared.

My mom likes it here, so I'm happy too. The people who work here are nice and take care of my mom. The food is yummy, and there are lots of things to do, even though my mom doesn't go to them. They make sure everything stays clean, and the outside area is pretty. Overall, I would give them three out of five stars.

"Care Fell Short; Facility Pleasant but Lacked Extensive Support"

"Filthy Facility Needs Major Cleanup"
I strongly caution against choosing this place for loved ones. My visit didn't even stretch past ten minutes, and that was just me being polite. The place is a total mess. I felt sorry for the folks stuck living there. I've encountered Medicaid places in better shape. They really need to step it up when it comes to cleanliness.

"Warm Community with Courtyard Not Perfect Fit for Parents"

"Unsatisfactory and Incomplete Tour at Saucon Valley Manor"
We visited Saucon Valley Manor. The lady we spoke to was nice, but she didn't really tell us much about the type of care they provide. Overall, the place just didn't wow us, and we kind of felt unwelcome. We didn't learn anything about food options or if they had activities for folks living there. Other families might still want to check it out for their loved ones' care.

I really enjoyed the two-bedroom apartment. There was plenty of storage space. The kitchen was small but great, and the master bathroom had a walk-in shower with a wide bench built in. The dining room was pleasant, although we didn't eat any meals there. Overall, it was a good experience.

"Didn't Like This Place for My Mom At All!"
I really didn't like this place when I visited. Tons of stuff just wouldn't suit my mom's needs. The halls were tight and poorly lit. The whole setup didn't look good to me at all. They didn't even have things for the folks living there to do. I could never let my mom live in a place like this.

"Avoid This Facility: Constant Staff Shortages and Poor Resident Care"
This place is consistently understaffed and the workers are always switching out. They barely communicate and due to insufficient staff, residents are often left in dirty clothes for an unbearable amount of time. The often leads to accidents and new team members aren't taught about the health conditions and requirements of the residents. There are countless issues. Alarm systems on beds and chairs are switched off and forgotten to turn back on. I would never suggest this location to anyone at all.

"SVM is a very good place for mom"
My mom has been at SVM for a year. She has dementia and moved to a secure unit 3 months after she got there. I couldn't be happier with the care she's getting, and the staff is great. She's safe, enjoys most activities, and has made a few friends, which is good for her. Since she's been there, I feel better knowing she's being cared for with love and respect. She's in a very good place.
