"Great care, but not for combative patients"

We only used their memory care unit. I thought the staff and hands-on care were very good. My husband passed away in early January. If he hadn't, we were going to move him to a place that only does memory care. I don't think Martha's is ready to handle combative patients, which my husband was, unfortunately.

"St. Martha’s Struggles with Staffing and Communication"

St. Martha’s has some problems. They don’t have enough staff, and the people who work there are really tired. Families can’t get information about their loved ones because the phone message boxes are always full. St. Martha’s doesn’t tell families what’s going on through newsletters; they just send emails when there’s a virus. And when it comes to dining, sometimes they don’t have enough wait staff, or the food isn’t very good. Plus, transportation for shopping or medical appointments is rare.

"Friendly staff, though busy; recommended for others seeking care."

The staff is friendly but often busy. Overall, I recommend it.

"Great food and large private rooms at St. Martha Villa"

We had a good experience at St. Martha Villa. They have more memory care activities than other places. The food is really good. The memory care rooms are big and private.

"Comfortable and caring assisted living with attentive staff."

My wife and I were searching for a good place for her to stay, and we found it here. They take really good care of her, and all the staff are friendly and smile a lot. If something happens, they always call me right away and keep me updated. Sometimes the food when I visit is good, sometimes not so much. Overall, I would tell others to consider them if they're looking.

"Not quite what we needed, but it was okay."

The community was alright, but it wasn't exactly what we wanted then.

"Food, Staff, and COVID Concerns"

This place isn't connected with the Catholic Church. Food's bad. Mom's heat and A/C never worked right. Fire alarms keep waking us up at night. Some staff are nice, but others are mean. Lots of turnover—tons of job signs outside. They don't really follow COVID rules. They give out wrong info about COVID. Mom got a positive COVID test, but they said everyone was fine. Not true. Mom passed away.

"Poor Care and Unkept Conditions at Assisted Living Facility"

I wouldn't suggest this care home to anyone. I've worked in healthcare for a while and I've never seen something like this. They didn't help residents with eating difficulties during meals. My sister and I ended up opening drinks for residents as there was no staff around. My mom's room was often messy and towels were left on the bathroom floor. Staff don't encourage residents to move around. Mom kept saying the staff were too busy and not enough of them. When I went to bring mom home, her room was messy and nothing was packed. I had to start packing her stuff myself, and only then did someone offer to help. Honestly, this isn't the best place for your beloved person. My siblings and others who visited mom agree with me. In retrospect, if asked to choose between in-home care or care home again, I'd go for in-home therapy. I strongly advise against this place. I hope this might help someone else.

"Sub-Standard Assisted Living Facility: I'd Advise Against choosing It"

This facility is one I wouldn't advise anyone to consider using. My mom was a resident there for three weeks. The meals were poor in quality and quantity, more appropriate for a toddler than an adult. The majority of the staff are impolite and don't show any initiative. The only kind nurse we encountered was and we only had the opportunity to see her on two occasions. Repeated requests to change my mom's bedding fell on deaf ears, and it seemed like we were requesting something unreasonable. The same inattention was given to the need to change my mom's leg bandage every second day. Whenever we mentioned it to a nurse, we were told 'we'll look into it', yet nothing happened. I specifically asked the night nurse to replace my mom's bandage and, instead of agreeing, he told me he was not on duty every night and did not know when the bandage should be changed. His apathy was evident even though information about my mom's needs was in her chart. He had no concern, and the bandage was not replaced that night either. I had to remove the dirty towels and washcloths from my mom's room myself. I had to bring her food, I had to bathe her. The staff did absolutely nothing, except sit and chit-chat amongst themselves. Last night, they were overheard discussing their preferred drinks, such as Fireball and Rum & Coke, rather than focusing on the care for those patients who cannot defend their own needs. It's disgraceful. On leaving, my mother's fellow resident asked me for assistance in repositioning his legs, turning off his room light and closing his door because the unmotivated nurses wouldn't help him get comfortable in his bed. They even served the poor patients tap water that tasted heavily of chlorine. A surveyor at the site was told about all these issues, but again, nothing changed. I was regretfully compelled to keep my mom in this unimpressive facility because it was the only one her insurance would cover. I'm just relieved that her final day in this sub-par facility is tomorrow! Do not entrust a family member to these people – they cannot be relied upon for quality care.
