"Sunrise Granite Run: Staff Shortage, Negligence, and Poor Hygiene"
Our mom is staying in the memory care section at Sunrise Granite Run. However, there's not enough staff for the 30 residents living there now. They leave her by herself for long periods, which made us hire a private caregiver to keep her company and aid her in using the restroom. They aren't taken to the bathroom regularly and spend hours waiting. The place is really dirty and so are the people. There isn't routine cleaning happening and showers are seldom given.

"Care and Pricing Concerns"
We really liked the care. The nursing staff paid close attention to the residents' needs and always kept our loved one clean. They genuinely wanted our loved one to improve. Initially, our loved one needed a two-person assist and a Hoyer lift. But as their health got better, they didn't need those anymore. We wish they had adjusted the care level and price when our family was involved every day.

"Nice community with high costs; more staff would be helpful"
This community is really nice. The only problem is that it costs a lot of money, and it would be easier to afford if the cost was lower. The people who work here are very kind to my loved one. It would be even better if there were more staff to help out, but the most important issue is the cost.

"Mixed Experience with Staff Communication"
My mom stayed here for four months. They messed up billing twice. The daytime nurse, was great and kept me updated. But the staff didn't talk well with each other. For example, I got a transport chair for Mom's room. Twice I took Mom out, and the feet were missing. Nobody knew where they were, but they were in the room between visits. The wheelchair they gave Mom was tough to lock, and she had some minor falls in the bathroom. Eventually, I bought a better one for her. Staff would say they'd handle things, but often they weren't the right people or didn't have the authority. When I found the right staff, issues got sorted quickly.

"Caring Staff and Committed Director, But Few Activities"
They have caring staff, which is the best thing about this place. The staff are responsive to the families of the residents. The director is very committed. There are only a few activities in the memory care unit.

"Horrible place"
Please do not send your loved one here. My mother reeked of urine every time we visited. Her room reeked of urine, even when she wasn't in the room. They promised that there would never be a time they couldn't provide the care she needed. They laughed at us when we asked if there would be a time when we might be required to provide private outide aids, saying they have never heard of such a thing. Of couse she ended up with recurring uti, and of course a bedsore. We confronted them about this, requesting they provide the services they promised. Then they sent a certified letter saying they were kicking her out in 30 days, and they would drop her off at our door. We applied to 10 other nursing homes in Delaware county, told them the care she required, all of them were interested in having her move in until they got the nursing report from Sunrise. 10 nursing homes denied her. 10 out of 10 denied after Sunrise contacted them.

"Great place for seniors with caring staff!"
A wonderful community! The staff my family and I met were friendly and caring. It’s a great place for seniors to live comfortably as they age. The availability didn’t fit our family’s needs at the time, but otherwise, it would have been our first choice.

"Disappointment Over Unfulfilled Promises at Assisted Living Facility"
My brothers and I first investigated this senior living facility as options for our dad who suffered from mid-level dementia. We were won over by the persuasive sales staff, and taken by the clean and attractive surroundings. We were promised specialized care for our father who had been falling frequently. This was a significant concern for us since he used to walk and even run before he had his balance. Although they assured us that they could handle it, that wasn't the case. The first week went well, until we found him sleeping in other residents' beds. It was clear he didn't know his own room and on several instances we found the staff unaware of his whereabouts. This issue was never fixed, and eventually he fell, breaking his hip. Sadly, this began his downhill journey, and he didn't recover. Despite their promise to improve his care after the incident, they weren't effective. His caregivers weren’t informed about an injury he had during hospital rehab causing them to inadvertently hurt him further. I feel the sales team over-promised on their ability to care for our dad. This is probably a problem for other families who entrust their loved ones to them. My expectation that frequent visits would help turned out to be a window to the care lapses. In retrospect, it might have been better to keep dad home and care for him ourselves.

"Friendly Community with Varied Activities and Clean Environment"
This place had a few problems with showers at first, but they fixed them. The manager and director were really helpful. They offer lots of different foods, but my mom doesn't like them. There's always something fun happening. The place is clean, and the outside areas are nice. The staff is super friendly, which made us choose this place. I think it's worth checking out to see if it's right for your loved one.

"A Great Place for Mom"
This place has good food with lots of choices and they even cater to different diets. The person in charge is really nice and deals with our worries and questions fast. The workers are friendly and keep pushing us to do our best. They talk to the people living here every day. My mom's starting to like the music they have. They have two cats who live here and sometimes other animals come too, which is nice for the residents.

"Great care and a beautiful place!"
We’re really happy with Sunrise Senior Living! They provide excellent care and the place is beautiful, with lots of great features for the residents. The only small issue was that the onboarding process could have been explained more clearly. My family likes to be involved in every step, and sometimes we weren’t sure who to contact. But now that our loved one is settled in, the staff is great at keeping us informed and answering any questions we have.

"Friendly and Caring Staff!"
Sunrise of Granite Run does a really good job overall. The people here are nice, and the staff genuinely care about my Mom's comfort. Most of the employees have been here for a long time and seem to enjoy their work. The only downside is that they sometimes seem short-staffed. Still, I'm happy we found this place, and I'd recommend it to others!

"A Good Place for Mom"
My mom was in a nursing home before, but she gets much better care here. They make sure her clothes match, her hair is nicely combed, her buttons are lined up right, and she even has lipstick on. She can do these things herself but wasn’t encouraged before. The atmosphere at Sunrise Granite Run makes her want to get out of her room and look her best. The staff is friendly and caring, always letting us know what she needs. She looks forward to her meals, and the care manager asked us about her favorite foods. This place is much better for Mom and gives us peace of mind knowing she is well cared for.

"Great place with caring staff; Dad loves it!"
Sunrise of Granite Run has done a great job. My dad loves it here! Since moving in, he has changed completely. At first, he just slept all day and wasn’t very active. Now, he’s awake, alert, and social. He even helps staff by pushing other residents in their wheelchairs! The community looks nice, and the staff are friendly. They truly care about the residents. They were very accommodating when I asked them to switch my dad’s refrigerator for a larger one with a freezer.

"Enjoyable visit to Granite Run; clean, caring atmosphere, some improvements needed."
Going to Granite Run was easy from where I live. I found a happy and nice atmosphere there. I met he, who works there and is friendly and easy to talk to. She answered all my questions. During our tour, I met some of the people who manage the place. The people who live there looked well taken care of and clean. I saw one older man and his friend in the dining area. He had been living there since November and was 96 years old. When I left after two and a half hours, I saw him still sitting there, but his friend had left and he was asleep. Everything was neat and clean everywhere I looked. I also went to a locked area where people were walking around, sitting, and talking to the staff. I didn't see any organized group activities, but I did see the schedule of activities for the day and week. Personally, I didn't feel as comfortable in the locked section as I did in the main part. But that's just me; some people need that for safety. Overall, it seems like a nice and caring place to live. I did notice a little dust on the picture frames in the bathroom near the dining area, and the sink area could have been cleaned better. he told me that the apartments are thoroughly cleaned once a week. The apartments she showed me were well-designed and had nice bathrooms with water jets. I wish I had one like that at home. Thank you to everyone there.

"She enjoys the place, but staff could use help."
She enjoys the place. While she’s been there, she got sick a few times, which didn’t happen at other places. One issue is they expect a lot from the staff. They’re not just responsible for the residents; they also serve meals. Sometimes people wait for service because staff are busy waiting tables. It’s not a long wait, but it’s still a wait. I don’t think they’re understaffed, just spread a bit thin. The staff is caring, nice, and responsive. This seems to be more of a corporate issue. They only have a nurse until 5, and then a med tech comes in, but they’re still responsive. They could do more with the activities department. They remember your name and get to know you. Overall, it’s a good facility, but a little more help would be nice.

"Highly recommend this community!"
My dad is in minimal care, and they do a great job. I’m happy with it. No complaints so far. It’s very clean and super friendly. Everyone seems ready to help in any way they can. I would recommend it to others. It seems expensive, but it’s about the same as other places for the care we’re getting. My dad is doing some exercise classes and is excited about going on some trips in the future. Tracy from A Place for Mom did an awesome job following up.

"Chocolate Chip Cookie Heaven!"
We chose Sunrise because there are plenty of staff around. The staff is very involved in their work and care for the residents. If they see someone slouching in a chair, they don’t just assume the person is sleeping, they actually go up to check on them. It's a beautiful community with really good-smelling food. My mom’s favorite part is a chocolate chip cookie they have, and she always talks about how much she loves it. They also have community pets, which is great for the residents. We visited 9 other places, but the main reason we chose Sunrise is because my mom won’t have to move if her condition gets worse.
