"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
We didn't try the meals, but our loved one was fine with them. Activities weren't her thing, but she was a recluse. The place was nice and comfy for mom's last year. Activities didn't appeal and costs were high. Staff was mostly great. Medical care was very good.

"Friendly staff, good food, improves mental health; costly drawback."
The staff at Sunrise of McCandless is friendly. Dad loves the food, but activities don't interest him. Overall, good for mental improvement; costly.

"Highly recommended care facility with attentive, professional staff."
I am very happy with how well they care for my wife at Sunrise of McCandless. The staff and management are very professional and pay close attention to details, which has really helped my wife improve. They also coordinated well with Concordia for her rehab. I would definitely recommend this facility for loved ones needing care.

"Brother Unhappy with McCandless Service and Weekend Food"
My brother, who lives at McCandless, really isn't happy. There's no table service in their dining room, and the quality of the food on the weekends is iffy. Can anyone at McCandless tell us what's going on?

"Assisted Living Tour Experience: Decent Care, Dated Community"
We visited Sunrise of McCandless in person. It looked like they take good care of people, but the place seemed kinda old-fashioned.

"Lackluster Assisted Living Disappoints Vibrant Residents"
Sunrise of McCandless seemed old and dull. It didn't feel lively enough for my loved one, who's full of life. The staff was too relaxed, and I wasn't impressed with the activities.

"Bright, Welcoming Community with Great Staff"
We're really happy with how open and bright the place feels—it's not dark or sad at all. The people who work here are awesome; they always let us know what's going on with our family member. And it's super clean everywhere you look.

"Limited Pool Access Disappoints Expectations"
The pools are closed all summer and winter, so you can't wear a bathing suit or short-sleeved shirt.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
We are mostly satisfied with the assisted living facility. It's been a good experience overall, although we find it somewhat pricey. The environment is pleasant; the facility looks well-maintained. Some staff members have been excellent, while others could improve. The biggest area for them to work on is the food quality. According to my loved one, the meals lack flavor.

"Subpar Care and Lack of Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
No one ever really told us about the events going on in the center. My family member was left in a room with only food and medicine, nothing else. I don't suggest this place to anyone. My family member was sick and had to suffer because of their reluctance to provide proper medication. Even for a simple task like shaving, they demanded extra charges implying an upgrade to his care. The staff seemed quite superior and lacked knowledge. They even forgot one of his medicines for a whole month, causing problems.

"Mixed Feelings on Sunrise Assisted Living's Amenities and Costs"
The food and dining at Sunrise are usually good. They offer activities like bingo, movie night, and card games, but it feels like only a few residents, the same ones each time, join in. The price isn't terrible, but it's still pretty high.

"Regimented Setup and Worn Furnishings"
This place is really structured. They tell you where to sit for meals, check our rooms morning and night, and the furniture in the shared spaces looks old. It didn't feel great, and I wasn't a fan of the room layouts either.

"Review: 'Avoid Assisted Living Facility That Caused Devastating Family Tragedy'"
I strongly advise not to admit your loved one here. We learned of various unpleasant accounts concerning this facility after the incident. My dad stayed here for a short duration. They wrongly placed him in an inappropriate section of the facility and one night, shockingly, he was discovered lying on his room floor without any supervision. He was hurriedly taken to the hospital and unfortunately, he passed away... Avoid this dreadful occurrence to your closest and dearest. It's truly devastating. To make things worse, they even refused to refund the money owed to us, considering his transient stay... If any of your loved ones are currently admitted here, I would recommend installing surveillance cameras in their room to keep track of events, especially during the night.... Looking back, I deeply wish we had :(

"Lack of Attention and Responsibility Leads to Tragedy at Facility"
This place was a disaster. They might seem convincing when you visit initially, but don't be misled. My dad had a brief stay here. Inappropriately, they put him in the wrong section without adequate supervision. In the middle of the night, they found him on the floor, unable to get up and rushed him to a hospital where he unfortunately passed away. They completely dodged taking any responsibility for their mistakes. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone, not even my biggest enemy. If you're unfortunately already there, try securing a small camera inside the room to find out what's actually happening. They surely weren't monitoring my dad as they should've been. To top it all, they still haven't refunded our money. Absolutely unacceptable.
