"Disappointed with lack of updates and extra fees for diapers."
My family's experience at Symphony Manor of Feasterville has been mixed. The staff puts effort into organizing activities, which is nice. However, I haven't been receiving any updates about my loved one's well-being. Also, it's frustrating to discover that on top of the monthly fee, we have to pay extra for diapers.

"Regrets and Warning: Awful Assisted Living Facility"
Avoid placing loved ones in this awful facility. My parents were once residents here, and I am so grateful we got them out in time. I will always be haunted by the mistake of choosing this place for them. I was misled.

"Loved One Disappointed by No-Cat Policy in Assisted Living"
This place didn't allow cats, which my loved one wanted. The community was okay, but not ideal; it's further out. The tour wasn't bad, just not what I wanted.

"Irresponsible Care and Poor Communication at Memory Care Facility"
Memory Care Here Lacks Adequate Staffing and Disregards Resident Needs." It's a constant issue, too few staff members on hand to properly care for the residents. A constant turnover of employees only compounds the issue - new hires with little to no training coming and going. Almost all of the aides seem perpetually unhappy. It's common to find my mom's diapers soaking wet, her bed made with damp sheets. I've complained countless times, saw improvements for two weeks, but then it's back to the same problems. The dining experience is a letdown - the wait is long and the food is cold. In I got a shocking call from the hospital stating my mom was admitted "yesterday" due to pneumonia, an irregular heart, and a UTI. I was incensed because no one from the facility had contacted me or my brother. When I confronted a higher-up at the facility, the co-director she insisted a nurse had called me. When we disagreed, I overheard her say she couldn't care less. Speaking to her superiors did little more than result in an empty gesture of reprimand. I decided to remove all of my mom's things, ensuring she wouldn’t return. Tragically, my mother passed away at the hospital. The facility never even extended condolences for the loss of my mom.

"Manager's Empty Promises, Family Left Unable to Care for Loved One"
Many staff at the facility are good-hearted, but they're understaffed to a point where I wouldn't recommend anyone needing care to go there. I initially thought the Manager, would help. She gave an excellent rousing speech. But that's all it was - just words, unfulfilled promises. They disregarded the care my mom needed and they even prevented me from stepping in to help out. I suggest choosing a place that actually includes you in the care team, because any facility that doesn't is an obvious red flag. She might claim that she understands our plight, as though she's in our shoes. However, if she is, hers don't fit my feet.

"Cozy, Welcoming Assisted Living with Tailored Programs"
I really liked the place because it doesn't look like a hospital, which is a relief. It's not too big either, so it doesn't feel too much. Also, they're starting a new program that separates activities for those who can do more and those who need more help.

"Happy with Grandma's new home"
My grandma's new place had a few bumps at first, but they fixed things when I spoke up. They hired more helpers, which made a big difference. I'm thrilled to see how happy Grandma is now. She joins in on activities, likes painting class, and watches the shows they bring in. They even throw special parties for families, which we love. Grandma can't stop talking about how good the food is, and she enjoys eating in the dining room. You should definitely come for a visit!

"Disappointment in Assisted Living Facility After Staffing Changes"
When my family member first moved into this assisted living facility, it was pretty nice. But they've had a lot of changes in their staff, and things haven't been as good since then. The food here has a lot to be desired. They don't give you choices, and it's not really tasty. Sometimes, they even forgot to serve my family member their lunch. A handful of the caregivers are really working hard to give good care. But the place, including the rooms, could do with more cleaning. And it's tough to talk to the person who's in charge.

"Facility Betrays Trust, Refuses Planned Move"
We had already toured the facility and really liked it. The caseworker and social worker had also assessed my mother-in-law's condition and said everything was okay. We got all the stuff sorted and even made the deposit for her to move in. Then, just two days before the move, they suddenly told us they couldn't accept her. They said she didn't meet the medical criteria they had. I feel like they misled us and didn't tell us the truth. I really wouldn't suggest this community.

"Excellent Care and Comfort for My Brother at This Community"
I'm really happy with this place and everything they've done for my brother so far. I don't even know where to start in explaining why I love it here. The staff are amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better group overall to take care of him. They all know him by his first name and always greet him with a hello and a smile whenever they see him. I've noticed he feels very peaceful and comfortable, and safe since he moved into this community. The facility is very small and has a family-like setting, which I really like for him. Overall, the people are wonderful, the place is lovely, and I would highly recommend it.

"Pleasant Stay at Symphony Manor for Respite Care"
My husband stayed at Symphony Manor for a week of respite care. It was really nice there. The place looks great and everyone who worked there was super nice and ready to help. I'd think about sending him there again for sure. The only thing that bothered me was that he didn't get shaved like I asked when he got there. He said he had a good time and liked the food.

"Unsatisfied with Impersonal Care and Lack of Communication"
My sister lived there for a while. A lot of the staff seemed not to care. Every time I asked them anything, either over the phone or in person, they didn't have the answers I needed. They never followed up with me, and I never got the chance to talk to the in-house doctor despite trying many times. During my sister's last week there, we got help from Hospice and they did a great job. They kept us in the loop with phone calls. When my sister died, they let us know they were there for us. They even sent letters and were at the funeral. On the other hand, no one from Symphony Manor ever reached out to us or showed any sympathy. Towards the end, my sister's dirty laundry just kept piling up and they didn't wash it, even though they promised us they would. When we went back to get her stuff, some of the staff didn't even know she was gone.

"Peace of Mind"
I picked this place for my husband because he could move freely around the facility and enjoy the garden while still being safe. The staff in the memory care unit don’t make anyone do activities they don’t want to. They can wake up and go to bed when they choose, not on a fixed schedule. My husband gets good care, showers, and meals in a nice dining room. His primary care doctor visits weekly to manage his health and medications. However, I wish they’d keep the carpets in rooms and halls stain-free. The most frustrating part is that his clothes keep disappearing. His shoes usually turn up, but new shirts and sweatpants vanish. Since everything needs to be tailored due to his size, losing clothes gets expensive.

"Poorly Managed Facility with Overworked and Underpaid Staff"
This place may look appealing from the outside, but that's where it ends. The staff is consistently understaffed and the ones present are overworked and undercompensated. I've observed many CEOs come and go, none any better than the previous. Activities are lacking since the employee in the memory care unit takes extended lunch breaks, leaving the nursing staff to pick up the slack, and the CEO doesn't seem to mind. They've seen a spread of C-DIFF among a number of residents because no one observes proper hygiene, and I've seen staff moving from one resident's room to another's without washing their hands. Discussing patients' issues in the hallway creates a HIPPA violation. Med techs are commendable under the circumstances, but nurses are seldom seen and when they are, they're gossiping about colleagues. The quality of food is laughable, and residents in the assisted living section have far better meal options. BOTTOM LINE is to improve the care staff's performance, pay them appropriately. Can anyone survive on a wage of $10 to $12 per hour? I doubt it. Considering the monthly income, you'd assume employees would be paid appropriately, but that's not the case. I sympathize with the staff. I'm planning to relocate my loved one as soon as the next facility has an opening.

"Negligence and Carelessness: Assisted Living Facility Failures"
My loved one stayed at this facility for a year. She was admitted perfectly capable of moving, and was self-dependent in terms of her physical functions. But, within a week, she suffered three falls that were completely avoidable, all because of negligent staff. There was no post-incidental medical attention given. Her physical and mental health began to degrade since that incident. False assurances were given from all levels of authority, but they never followed through. You wouldn't even know about the hidden issues if you didn't pay unexpected visits regularly. The residents are often left alone without any supervision. Their transport procedures are completely unsafe, both in wheelchair or seat. I've observed and reported such negligent acts multiple times. There was even an incident a short while ago where a resident’s wheelchair wasn't safe, leading to a broken leg. The staff was threatened into lying, with the truth coming forth from only one staff's confession. I've seen falls happening with no caregivers nearby. The residents often look neglected, wearing soiled clothing. Their clothes are ruined by the facility's utilities. Personal supplies are unethically shared. The food is served cold and with improper utensils. The staff is disrespectful and inappropriately dressed. They bathe the residents abruptly, without covering their shaking, naked bodies. They handle them roughly. Keep an observant eye when you visit. I believe even a pet would receive better care. I advise you advocating for your elders. They took care of us when we were defenseless, isn't it our turn to give them the care they deserve now?

"Best place for our Dad"
Making this decision was really hard, but I'm so happy with Symphony. The staff is amazing. My dad is always clean, shaved, and dressed nicely. I couldn't do this for him at home, and it made me so sad. The biggest surprise is how much fun he's having. After 6 months, my sister, brother, and I know we made the right choice.

"Decent assisted living facility with friendly staff and nice environment."
Our time at Symphony Manor was pretty good. The building looks nice, and the people who work there are friendly and willing to help. I think it would be better if they had more staff available and more things for the memory care patients to do. But besides that, it's a pretty good place overall.

"Some staff members not as attentive as others"
i noticed that some staff members aren’t as attentive to residents’ needs as they should be. Sometimes, wheelchair-bound residents sit in the hallway for extended periods. However, there are excellent staff members, and nursing and administration are fine. It’s mainly the caregivers (not all) who lack attentiveness. During my evening visits, I’ve seen some caregivers just sitting on their cellphones.

"Nice place, overall"
Our experience at Symphony Manor has been good overall, although there are a few areas they could improve. The staff is very friendly, and the facility itself is high quality. When you walk in, it feels like a fancy hotel—from the common areas and dining room to the apartments. However, the care quality could use some improvement; they might need more staff. Still, it’s a nice place worth considering if you’re looking for care in the area.

"Friendly and Caring Staff"
I think there are plenty of activities. My loved one stayed there for about a month. The staff was really nice and very caring. My dad seemed to like the food. When my dad fell near the dining room, it was an unwitnessed fall. It might be a good idea for them to have cameras to see falls. They did a good job contacting us and getting him help.

"Home-Like Care"
My grandma stayed at Sunrise Sheepshead Bay for a few months. It was comforting to know they could meet her needs, even arranging hospice care. Unlike other places, they offer extensive nursing care, so she didn’t have to move to a nursing home. The food was good, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. I’d recommend it to other families.
