"Friendly Staff, But Facility Needs Upgrades"
Our family had an in-person tour with Wesley Enhanced Living, and we really liked the admission staff member we met. We understand it’s hard to upgrade an old or historic building, but the community just seemed worn down, dark, and old.

"Smooth Transition to Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley"
Our sons and us, along with my husband, were lucky to find Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley. My husband needed more care than we could manage at home, and the Director of Marketing and Sales at WEL at Stapeley made it financially possible for us to move here. He worked hard to make our move as easy as possible. First, he helped my husband move to the Personal Care wing. Then, 8 days later, he helped me move to an Independent Living apartment. Once we were settled in, he went above and beyond - he even helped me find a shower curtain on the first day, which we hadn't thought to bring because our old place had a different setup. He also helped me set up voicemail on my new phone.

"Mixed Dining Experiences"
At this assisted living facility, there are great activities, but our loved one doesn’t always participate. They have different dining rooms, with one serving supposedly delicious food like a 5-course meal. Unfortunately, our loved one prefers the other dining room, where the meals are just okay. Maybe switching rooms would improve the meals.

"Busy Staff, Positive Atmosphere, Beautiful, Sunlit Building"
The staff is really busy, but they stay positive and keep a good vibe for the residents. The community has a lot of interesting people, and the building is beautiful with lots of sunlight.

"Friendly staff, spacious apartments, recommend for value and location."
We picked Wesley Enhanced Living for its good value and location. The staff were friendly during the tour and remained so. The apartment sizes are spacious. They pay attention to residents' needs. I would recommend it.

"Accommodating Assisted Living with Attentive Staff and Informative Director"
We picked Wesley Enhanced Living because my sister liked the director. He gave us lots of helpful info and explained everything well. I've only been there a couple times, but the staff stayed in touch with my sister and were really helpful when she moved in.

"Poor Communication and Neglect in Assisted Living Facility"
We were looking forward to moving into this assisted living facility, but as soon as we did, there was zero communication. The sales director was awesome, going above and beyond by setting up our loved one's TV. But the nurses? They never responded to our queries. Our loved one's landline was left unplugged, just resting by the phone jack, her cell phone too - just abandoned next to an outlet. We couldn't get in touch with her. The nurses promised she would call us, but she never did. Because she has dementia, our loved one often forgot to eat. She was even confused, thinking she needed to pay to have meals. She lost a dangerous amount of weight and ended up being hospitalized due to dehydration. The staff didn't inform me of any of this until she was already in the hospital. When we came for visits, the people at the front desk never even acknowledged us. Yes, the room and the building may have been nice, but what's more important is the care our loved one received - or didn't. When we went to collect her belongings, her clothes and her favorite pillow were missing.

"Assisted Living Facility Keeps Families Informed and Responsive to Needs"
We have a weekly Zoom call with our loved ones, and the staff who helps set it up is wonderful. While we can't visit, it seems she's getting okay care. There was a delay in getting a list of her medications during care conferences every 50 days, but it's now resolved. They promptly call us whenever she falls, minor or major. Weekly emails update us on COVID-19, including vaccine schedules.

"Temporary stay okay, adjustment tough"
My Uncle moved to this place's expert care from the hospital, and he was okay there. However, he had a hard time getting used to the personal care side when he was moved there. We knew his stay here was only temporary until we found a long-term place for him. The staff did a good job handling him in the month he was there.

"Upset and Worries Ignored at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom has been in this place for some time now. At first, I was really happy that she would finally have a place with nurses to watch over her and fun activities to join in with her friends. Everything looked great. But nowadays, her room is always a mess, the staff is mostly busy on their mobile phones, and worst of all - she's gotten hurt here not once, but TWICE. When I tried to talk about my worries with the head of the care department, she brought a whole group of people to the meeting. Instead of listening to me, they kept talking about their programs and my mom's health. I called the meeting to talk about my worries, not to hear about how they are going to run things. It's really upsetting and it feels strange how they run things here. Even the Director, who is supposed to be in charge of everything, keeps making jokes. It's not funny. These are serious problems. It's not a time for laughter when I keep finding new things to worry about whenever I come to see my mom.

"Residents Neglected, Facility Lacking Programs"
We visited the community and the tour guide was amazing and truly skilled at her job. However, we were distressed by what we saw. The facility was unclean and dilapidated. The residents appeared unkempt, and one woman in particular looked like she hadn't been properly cared for in ages, perhaps not having been changed or had her hair combed in a couple of months. In addition, we were disappointed that there were no active programs for the residents.

"Not Satisfied With Visit to Stapely"
I wasn't pleased with our visit to Stapely. We did a walkthrough of both parts, the assisted care, and the nursing home. The nursing home gave us the feel of people being stored away. Yes, it was tidy, but the feel of the place was horrible. I wouldn't even think about it, it didn't feel welcoming at all.

"Mom's New Home: Stapley Assisted Living Facility Review"
Our family is happy with Mom's move to Stapley. The place is run well, and the staff always takes care of the residents' needs. It feels like home here, with lots of activities and options for socializing, being creative, connecting spiritually, and enjoying food. Mom's life is better since she moved here. Overall, it's been a positive change for us all.

"Frustration and Fear: Uncaring Staff and Unexplained Injuries"
Although this assisted living facility looks clean and is kept up fairly well, a heavy dose of uncaring attitude unfortunately fills the air. The nurses, CNAs, and specifically the head nurse, display an unsettling lack of empathy. My family member lived here for several years, and during that span, gathered an uncomfortable number of injuries, infections, and mysterious bruises. We kept them there out of convenience for our own visits, which were almost daily. At first, the staff seemed experienced, kind-hearted, and well versed in their duties. But the good ones were consistently dismissed and replaced with ones that seemed less compassionate and knowledgeable. Often, I'd walk in to see residents dangerously leaning from their wheelchairs, or vocally requesting help from nurses who were feet away, yet no assistance was offered. My relative is completely dependent, and nobody ever took responsibility for the harm they received. There are just a few kind souls here that I won't name, but the place is generally in bad need of an overhaul. I wouldn't advise anyone to send their loved ones here, especially if they're unable to advocate for themselves. Those with Alzheimer's or dementia are especially at risk, since there seems to be an attitude of taking advantage of their condition. The current head nurse staunchly defends her CNAs, even when it's glaringly obvious that a mistake has been made. I ultimately made the choice to move my relative to prevent further injury.

"Great Staff and Comfortable Facility, Food Could Be Better"
The staff here is excellent—everyone I've met is knowledgeable, caring, patient, and kind. The facility is comfortable and clean, and they pay attention to each person's needs. The food could use an upgrade, but it's still okay to good, and there are a reasonable number of options for residents to choose from.

"Family Finds Peace with Stapeley Assisted Living Care"
My 95-year-old mother was living alone when she had a fall and was found confused by her daily caregiver. At the hospital, they discovered she had a mild heart attack and was dehydrated. They recommended she go to Stapeley's Nursing Home wing for rehab. The staff was amazing. They handled my strong-willed mom, who wasn't happy about not going home, with great care. They helped her regain strength and mobility, making her more independent. The staff also played a big role in helping us realize that mom needed more supervision. She eventually agreed to stay in the Assisted Living section of the facility. Stapeley Assisted Living on Greene St. in Germantown, PA, is a well-kept urban center. The building's original oak woodworking gives it a warm, welcoming feel. The staff is friendly, cheerful, and helpful to both visitors and residents. My mom can get as much or as little help as she needs. She now attends monthly medical appointments at the facility, which is a big improvement since she used to miss them due to transportation issues or lack of motivation. She's made some new friends, and her old friends from the neighborhood can still visit since Stapeley is only 15 minutes from her old home. The residents at Stapeley have a variety of needs. Some, like my mom, have mild to moderate dementia but can still get along with a little help. Others have physical issues. My mom has made some friends, and the residents look out for each other. Our family feels better knowing she has 24-hour supervision. My brother, sister, and I all live out of state, so we rely on Stapeley to provide the care we would if we were closer. Overall, our family is very happy with the care our mom is receiving. As a neuropsychologist who has worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities, I would place Stapeley Assisted Living in the top 20% of urban facilities I've seen.

"A Caring Place for Mom"
Our mom has been at Stapely in assisted living since November 2014. At first, she was lonely and missed her home, but everyone was very kind to her. Even when she got snappy and raised her voice, people stayed kind. Julie Flanagan, the person in charge, took time to visit her and connected with her since they grew up in the same church. Julie kept our family informed. We have a companion who visits mom to take her out to movies and familiar places. This companion emails us several times a week and always has good things to say about Stapely. She says it's clean, has lots of activities, the staff works hard, and everyone is nice both clients and workers. I saw it myself when I visited in November, March, and May. Many staff members greeted my mom by name, saying Hi Miss Gladys everywhere we went! Mom is happy there now. She has friends who come by to get her for exercise and activities. I've been on the phone with her and heard a staff person knock on her door to remind her of a class. She loves the beautiful garden and the views from her room and the dining room. It's especially beautiful in the spring with the dogwoods! I'm happy my mom is there because it's a very caring place.

My mom has been at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley for three years. The staff is amazing—they really care about each resident. Even though I live out of state, I rest easy knowing my mom is happy and safe.

"Terrible Assisted Living Facility and Unhelpful Staff"
Really bad experience. I asked to talk about the place in person. During the call, they only cared about if I'd cover the extra costs that might come up from my loved one staying there. We finally scheduled a meet up. Later on, she emailed me saying that the person who checks things out had cancelled. I asked if I could still come check the place out. The person who decides who is admitted said she had a meeting with her kid's school, so she couldn't make it. She kept saying she didn't want to waste my time. She kept trying to convince me not to visit the place. She knows my sister's income. Terrible place...and even worse staff.

"Comfortable and Affordable Assisted Living with Friendly Staff"
We checked out lots of places before settling on Stapeley. We picked it because it's affordable and the staff is really nice. There are tons of fun things to do, especially music activities that my mom loves. Even though she'd rather be in her own place, I'm glad she's safe and getting good care here.

"Comfortable independent living with a few minor improvements needed"
We recently moved my 87-year-old mom into Stapely Independent Living, and she's happily getting used to her new home. My mom is quite particular, but the staff has been patient and accommodating with her needs. The apartment is very clean and modern, and the whole building is well-kept. The dining room looks great, but the heavy chairs could use wheels to help the older residents move them more easily—they struggle a bit at mealtimes (this is a small but important detail since meals are a big part of their day). The serving staff is very friendly and helpful. I especially want to thank the sales manager for making my mom feel comfortable during the move. The food is generally good, though they could cook the vegetables a bit less. The chef likely knows this and does his best. I'm only commenting on the independent living part, which works well for my mother.

"Independent Living & Assisted Living Review"
My sister started at Stapeley in Independent Living a few years ago. She has severe arthritis and memory challenges, so she needed to change her lifestyle. At first, she resisted any changes, but we explored other facilities and found that none suited her better than Stapeley. Julie, the sales coordinator, played a big role in our decision. She listened to our needs and concerns, making the process personalized and friendly. Recently, my sister fell, and we decided she should move to Assisted Living. Again, Julie guided us every step of the way, making it a smooth transition. The place is clean, cheerful, and the staff is welcoming. I spent 4 days onsite, talking to staff and participating in activities. Our family remains happy with our choice, and most importantly, my sister is happy too.

"Proceed With Caution: Not Ideal for Transitioning Residents"
Stapeley might be suitable for those over 70 or 75 who are living with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia. However, it falls short for people struggling to make the adjustment from their home to a memory care facility. The staff lacks the necessary training and readiness to handle such tough situations and struggles to handle them properly.

"A Reasonable Place To Be"
The part of the assisted living facility that handles nursing care seems a bit uncertain. We wondered how many staff members were there and if it was enough. Maybe this was just a temporary issue during our visit, but I believe it could be improved. We picked this place because of its location. It's close to where my in-laws used to live and the church they attend, which made things easier. However, I wouldn't choose it again for my in-laws, although it might work for someone else. My mother-in-law is still there, but she hasn't decided if she'll stay. It doesn't feel like home to her. From an outsider's perspective, it's not an unreasonable place. The price seems fair, and you get good value for what you pay. I've even recommended it to others. My mother-in-law's sister and brother-in-law moved in, and they're quite happy with Stapeley.

"Old but Friendly Assisted Living Facility"
This place was nice, but it looked very old. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the staff was friendly. However, I wasn't too happy with the setup. The community fees and monthly rates were quite high. Also, the rooms came in different sizes, from small to large, and the levels of care varied.
