"Pleased with facility great food, maintenance; minor communication issues."
My loved one really likes everything about this place. The food is really good, and they keep the rooms clean and fix things when needed. She says sometimes the people who run the place could do better at keeping everyone informed, but that's just a small complaint if you ask me.

"Good Staff, Friendly Residents, Worth the Stay"
Most of the workers here are really nice. The people living here are also very kind and they made my family member feel at home right away. Just the fun things to do here make it worth the money, and my family member really likes the meals. Talking with the staff isn’t always perfect, but sometimes they understand exactly what we need. I think other people should come here too. After we figured out some early problems, it’s been awesome.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Tour"
The tour was nice. We didn't feel as comfortable here compared to the place we picked. This place seemed a bit like a nursing home, more formal. The staff were all very nice, and the location was good. It just didn't give us that "at home" feeling.

"Nice community in older building, but too far from family."
It's a nice community in an older building. However, it's too far from my family.

"Memory Care Unit Offers Support Amid Dementia Challenges"
My loved one is in the memory care unit where residents vary greatly in dementia progression. This poses challenges, especially with activities. Engaging higher functioning residents differently could help. However, the staff has been exceptional in caring for my loved one and keeping me informed. It's comforting to have supportive people on this journey.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Community"
Sometimes communication between shifts can be missed, but overall, the staff keeps our family well informed. The community is clean, and the staff is friendly. I recommend this place to others.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
We picked this place because it’s handy. The everyday workers are great, but the nurses aren’t good—they don’t pay enough attention. They never pick up the phone, and when you visit, they’re always swamped. They hang out in the office a lot and hardly ever on the floor where everyone is. The boss is awesome; he sent my note to the main office, but then I didn’t hear anything back. They don’t really get back to you. I wouldn’t tell people to go to Blenheim Newport.

"Poor service and limited activities at costly assisted living facility"
You'd only end up at this place if you're really desperate. It's more like a trap than a second home. The activities offered are minimal, and there's rarely anyone in the offices when you need help or have a question. The meals aren't great either - too much salt and no variety week after week. The only bit of 'fun' here is the limited offering of the arthritis-friendly zumba class or cookie baking sessions. Seriously? At over $4000 a month, they should offer much more. I could get a studio apartment for the same price, hire personal care, and even afford daily outings to shops and restaurants. I felt so stuck in this place. I'm just relieved I'm not there anymore.

"Elderly Woman Neglected in Pricy Assisted Living Facility"
Watch out! I was at a meeting for my 95-year-old friend, along with her lawyer and another friend. She was promised she could live in this assisted living facility until the end of her life. I brought up her concerns about getting help in the bathroom at night. They said she could ask for help anytime she needed it. She was supposed to have a person dedicated to helping her to/from the eating area. But, she was later told by the midnight staff that she could only call for help three times. This poor woman was so scared to cause trouble that she held in her pee. I told the nurses about this and they insisted she could call as often as she needed. Curious. In a few weeks, she started falling a lot. She even ended up in the emergency room a few times. The worst was when she asked for help going to the bathroom in the night. The staffer just stood there and didn't help, resulting in yet another fall. They put her back in bed and only found her bruises the next morning. Then they finally sent her to the ER. She ended up in a local rehab place and the facility wouldn't let her return because she was struggling with walking and turning. So much for staying there till her last breath. I'm not sure that they're keeping track of the falls, even though the state looks into these things. This place costs a lot. And if she wanted to eat in her room, they'd charge her an extra $5! I'm really upset that the reality she experienced didn't match the promises they made before she moved in. It's disgraceful. I might just have to call the Department of Elderly Affairs.

"Promised Assisted Living Services Don't Match Reality"
Watch out. I went to a meeting about my 95-year-old lady friend. She also had her lawyer there, plus me and another buddy. They told us she could live there until she passed on. I brought up her worry that she wouldn't have help going to the bathroom at night. They promised she could get help whenever she needed. They also said she'd have her own person for getting her to and from meals. But, guess what...she was told by the night shift she called for help too often and was limited to only 3 times. Imagine, a 95-year-old lady too scared to call for help, lying in bed holding her pee. When I told the nurses, they denied it and said she could call as many times she needed. Interesting...Then in a short span, she fell many times, even ending up at the ER. The last time, was when she called for help going to the bathroom and the helper just stood there watching, causing another fall. They put her back to bed and when the morning shift came, they saw bruises and then took her to the ER. They placed her in local rehab and the living center wouldn't let her return cause she had trouble walking. So when did their original promise of her being able to stay till the end change? I doubt they're even keeping records of her falls since the State checks those to make sure patients are cared for. It's a costly place and even though she's paying thousands a month, they charge her $5 if she wants to eat in her room! I'm really let down. What was promised when she moved in isn't what actually happened. Disgraceful! My next step may be contacting the Department of Elderly Affairs.

"Reliable Care and Comfort for Loved Ones"
My dad gets good care here. The staff is nice and usually very good. Sometimes they mess up his meds, though. It's a clean place. The food is great with lots of choices. They have fun activities for him and others to do. I think other families would like the good care and value here.

"Appreciable Staff, but Lacks a Homely Vibe!"
The folks working here were truly kind and supportive. I totally enjoyed the guided walk around the place. But I must say, it felt more like a traditional nursing unit, rather than a cosy, home-like place for my loved ones. Nonetheless, the larger community and surroundings presented as tidy and well-maintained.

"Great care and support for short-term needs"
We needed a place to care for my wife while I was on a business trip. Blenheim-Newport gave her the care she needed, including help with medicines, meals, and physical therapy. We would use their services again.

"Beautiful, but beware rising costs and management turnover."
This place looks really nice, they change how it looks a lot and it feels like a fancy hotel when you go in. The food area is fancy too. The people who work here are really nice but the people in charge have changed three times in a year and a half. My biggest worry is how they check on the people living here every three months and give them a score for everything. They add up all the scores and decide how much care you need and how much you pay each month. The cost has gone up three times in a year and a half, not counting the extra charge for living costs each year. Families don’t get to say anything about this. The price has gone from around $4500 to around $6700. It’s something to think about before you really like this place for someone in your family.
