Highlands on the East Side

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
I’m not satisfied with how they clean the rooms. The dinners they serve aren’t right. They’ve had several different cooks during the year my loved one has been there. Plus, some of their clothes and face cloths have gone missing.

"Assisted Living Facility Keeps Residents Active and Informed"
The assisted living place has lots of activities to keep residents busy. The staff makes friends with the residents. They also keep the family updated about how the resident is doing. It costs a little more money, but it's definitely worth it.

"Mixed Experience at Highlands on the East Side Assisted Living"
Highlands on the East Side is a caring facility overall. I would recommend it to others. However, they need better supervision, especially overnight. The housecleaning could improve, especially in bathrooms. If you're unhappy, speak up; sometimes issues are quickly resolved, other times not. The food varies; different cooks might help. Moving day was smooth with the Marketing Director's help. The staff welcomed my mom and made her feel at home with tea and dessert. It's pricey but includes everything.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Improvement, Not Recommended"
This place has had too many bad things happening. They really need to make the care and cleaning better here. Right now, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone.

"“Caring Staff Despite Basic Setting”"
We believe they’re very caring, but it’s been tough to assess things due to COVID restrictions. We can’t freely visit our loved one, though we recently saw his room. The community seems basic and older, but what matters most is their care and responsiveness.

"Activities Pre-COVID Were Wonderful"
We really enjoyed the activities before COVID.

Disappointed
"Assisted Living Facilities Fall Short of Adequate Care"
Regrettably, I can't advise anyone to choose this facility for their family members. While it presents well and the team is pleasant, they simply don't have enough staff on hand. They rely on a limited group of nurses and CNAs, and it's disappointingly insufficient. My relative has experienced neglect more than once, and despite the manager's willingness to listen, no improvements have been made in how things operate. Just last weekend, a resident fell and her emergency calls were ignored. She had to physically crawl to her door to scream for assistance. Considering the steep monthly cost of around $4000, this level of care is disgraceful. We're urgently seeking a new place for our family member.

"Smooth Transition to Assisted Living"
My mom's doing well here. She's making friends and joining activities. The food's good too, from what she says. The staff are super nice, and the place is always clean. I'd suggest this place to others.

"Shocking One-Time Fee; Otherwise Nice Assisted Living Facility"
This place was pretty nice, but I was really surprised by this extra $4,000 fee they charged for everyone. The building is really beautiful, and I liked where it was located, but this fee is something other places don't have.

"Review of Atria Bay Spring Village-Barrington, RI"
My mom stayed at Atria Bay Spring for a few months but needed more care and moved to nursing care. The staff was very kind and always kept me and my family updated. They were great, even though my mom didn't want to participate in her care. I really appreciated their kindness and communication.

"Review of Highlands Assisted Living - East Side, Providence"
We were really impressed with Highlands. It was my first choice for my mom, but she picked her second choice, so she wins. I loved how they cared for their residents and the beautiful yard and grounds. They also have a good male to female ratio, which is important if you're placing a dad. The intake staff was super kind to my family.

"Friendly Staff and Great Food!"
We’re really happy with Highlands on the East Side! It’s a clean, nice-looking place that’s just the right size, not too big. I feel like my loved one gets more personal attention here. The staff are all very friendly and seem to know the residents well. They also do a great job with the food!

"I'm really happy with them!"
I'm really happy with them. The place is very clean, which is important to me. The staff is super friendly, and we all know each other’s names. Nothing is perfect, but when I ask for something, they respond right away. They are great at keeping us informed about any changes. The nurses are wonderful too. There's a nice outdoor area where they invite residents to sit outside. The food is good, with lots of choices, and he enjoys it.

"Good Care, Clinical Atmosphere"
We visited this place while exploring care choices for a family member. The community looked nice, clean, and well-maintained. The staff appeared knowledgeable and caring. However, the atmosphere felt too clinical for our taste, and we didn't think our loved one would feel entirely comfortable here.

"Spacious Rooms and Tasty Food: Great Place for Seniors!"
The place has really good food. I think it would be cool if they had meetings every few months with families to see how things are going and hear any ideas. We checked out a few different places, and this one has the biggest rooms by far. They even fit two beds in there, which other places couldn't do.

"Very positive experience with personal attention and great activities"
Highlands is very attentive to each person's needs. Every facility has a unique feel, and choosing one is a personal decision. It’s important to find a place that matches the person's personality. Highlands really focuses on what each individual needs. My cousin is in memory care and enjoys the activities. He gets along well with the staff and has made a close friend among the residents. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
