"The Village Assisted Living: A Mixed Bag of Good and Bad"

In this 3-star review, the cost is high, but the activities and socializing make up for it. However, meal timing and staff delays can be frustrating.

"Chose Another Facility Despite Good Tour Experience"

Our family visited The Village at Waterman Lake in person. We liked what we saw during the tour. However, we decided to go with a different place for our loved one in the end.

"Despite Hefty Rent, Quality Food Not Prioritized at Assisted Living"

The grub at this place is honestly terrible. We've endured countless dreadful meals, from moldy bread and meals with hair in them, to overcooked dishes. Pancakes come out burnt every time. Any complaints made to the head honcho about overcooked food are met with, "everyone has an off day." It's just not an acceptable response, particularly when the monthly rent dues are nearly $6,000! Nourishment should be their top concern, but it definitely isn't. And if you do try to raise a complaint, you're given such responses. It seems like they always have a ready-made answer but never a solution. Everyone grumbles about the food but most refrain from complaining to the higher-ups due to fear of unkind treatment or dismissive responses. This place surely doesn't live up to the rave reviews it gets. Certainly not worth the substantial fee!

"Exceptional care and respect for my mother—highly recommend!"

The care my mother gets here is beyond what we hoped for. She is always treated with kindness and respect. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

"Friendly Staff and Great Amenities at a Reasonable Price"

This place is really nice.was super friendly and cheerful, and they really seemed to care about the residents. The prices here are a bit better than Atria, but it's a bigger place, so it didn't feel as cozy. Still, Mom would be very happy here and would probably get outside more with all the activities and programs. My sister and I like this one the best so far, but we're still checking out a few others. They have nail care every other week, and Mom can bring her dog, at least on a trial basis. There are also other great amenities.

"Structured but clean with friendly staff, not quite mom's preference."

This place was a bit more organized than what our mom preferred, but it was tidy and the staff were really nice.

"Safe, Clean, and Caring: Great Place for Mom"

My mom's really happy here, and I'm happy too. She loves it, and the food's good. They take great care of her. The place is super clean, and everyone's nice. Even with lots on my plate, I can rest easy knowing she's safe. If you can afford it, I'd say go for it.

"Wonderful community for everyone!"

I really liked The Village at Waterman Lake! I thought it was the best place for my friend, but her family decided in the end. I liked it way more than the other places we saw, and I think it's a great place for anyone.

"Pleasant Visit to Assisted Living, But No Immediate Availability"

I visited this place and it seemed really nice. Everything looked neat and tidy, and the staff were really friendly and nice. It was a good experience for my family and me. However, they couldn't help us when we needed it right away.

"No complaints, happy with everything!"

My aunt is doing well at The Village. She likes the activities, and the staff are friendly. She hasn't complained about the food, and the place is clean. This community turned out to be a good fit for her.

"Great care and good food at Village at Waterman Lake"

My loved one is very happy at the Village at Waterman Lake. Like any place, small problems can happen sometimes, but they are quickly and properly taken care of. The food is tasty, and the staff are friendly and caring.

"Friendly and Cheerful Staff"

My mother-in-law is staying here, and it's been a little over two months now. At first, we had some problems, but they've been resolved. The place is really nice, and the people are super friendly and cheerful.

"They have been really great!"

I think they have been really great. I don't have any complaints so far. They seem to be one of the best places in Rhode Island. They weren't much more expensive than others, pretty similar. We are very happy with them, you can add another five stars from me too.

"Highly Recommend the Village for Assisted Living"

From the first call with their marketing team to moving in and meeting the staff, everything has been great. My dad moved into their independent living, and my mom went to their memory care unit. It's been tough for my dad since he's been taking care of my mom for years, but he couldn't handle the stress anymore. The staff at the Village have been super kind and understanding, helping him with this and other things. I was surprised that the prices at the Village were so good because they offer a lot more than other places we checked out. So far, so good. I would recommend the Village to everyone.

"Friendly, communicative staff and clean facilities"

So far, The Village at Waterman Lake has been amazing. The staff go above and beyond with communication, always keeping me updated about my loved one. The place is clean and well-kept, and the accommodations are great. All my relatives who have visited have had good things to say.

"Great amenities and caring community in Greenville, RI."

The facility has a pool and large studio rooms with nice views. They offer good activities and food. The community fee increases by 2.5% each year, and the studio costs $3,100. They even have valet car cleaning!

"Not Ideal Community for Mom Despite Nice Setting"

The rooms in this community were big, and lots of them had balconies, but I don't think this is the best place for mom. I think a mix of assisted living and retirement options would be better. The community is next to a beautiful lake, but some rooms like the Tea Room and the Pub seem like they're just for show and aren't used much.

"Impressed with staff’s skill in handling dementia patients"

I was really impressed with how the staff interacted and their skill in working with people who have dementia. They calmly redirected and distracted anyone who was agitated. We do need to pick up toiletries like toothpaste and toothbrushes, which I didn’t expect. When I’m there, they are very accommodating, but if I need to ask something by email or phone, it can take a while. The schedules show a good variety of activities, but when I visited, it seemed like some residents weren’t engaged and were even sleeping during activities. It would be nice if they paid more attention to introverts, offering quieter, more intimate activities or smaller groups. They prompt residents to go to the dining room, but they don’t always make sure they get there and eat. I’m not getting much feedback on that.

"Great experience so far"

It's super clean, and the staff is really nice. They have lots of different activities. I haven't seen anything that needs fixing so far. They were very professional and friendly, which is why we picked them.

"So grateful to find such a wonderful home for Mother!"

This facility is excellent! The inside is clean and beautifully decorated, sitting on a hill with great views of a big lake. My 90-year-old mother has settled in well in her small studio apartment and loves the many activities available. The food is outstanding! The menu is varied, with something for everyone, and the meals are like those at fancy restaurants. The portions are just right for older people, and there are always healthy fruits and vegetables. Most of the staff is amazing. Like in any big place, there can be some personality clashes (my mom is very sensitive!), but everyone works hard to be friendly and helpful. The nurses are especially great, and the director always has time to answer my questions and help with care decisions. I highly recommend the Village. It’s large, which can feel overwhelming, but it’s arranged so no one has to walk far to the small dining area, and there’s always someone to help you find your way.

"Highly Recommend This Village!"

Things are going great. What I love about the village is the amazing staff. Most of them have been here for at least 12 years, so there's no turnover. You don't get new people who don't know anything. The maintenance people are very alert to the residents' needs, which is their main goal. When I first moved in, I didn't know you had to sign in or out when you left. I missed dinner, so they came to check on me to make sure I was okay and didn't want dinner. They had Italian subs the other day, and I knew I was going to be late, so I called them. They had a wrapped sandwich waiting for me. They are very accommodating. It's more expensive than other places I checked out, but it's worth the money. I told the HR person that there was nothing I didn't like about it.

"Lovely facility, still considering options"

This place is really nice. Right now, I'm still thinking about my options. My son, who lives in Andover, wants me to be closer, maybe near my daughter in Attleboro, so he can drive there in about an hour.

"Peace of Mind"

We picked this place because it's not too big. My mom can walk everywhere easily since everything is close by. The staff really cares about the residents and always helps out. They're super friendly and the food is great. I feel like my mom is really happy here. She can live independently but gets help when she needs it. The place is on a small hill with a beautiful lake view. My mom's room has a balcony where she can enjoy the breeze and sunshine. They also have transportation to take them places. My mom has become more social since moving here, and I feel at ease knowing she's happy, safe, and well taken care of.
