"Disappointing Meals and Missing Coffee: A Depressing Experience"
We thought the food wasn't great. It was small and not like they said. More like cafeteria food at school. Also, they said there's a coffee bar, but it's not there. No coffee, creamer, sugar, or cups. It made the place feel really sad.

We chose Bloom at Belfair because the community felt lively and had a positive vibe among staff and residents. The memory care unit stood out as the best we saw. Even though we don't need that care now, having the option for the future is reassuring. We'd recommend this facility to others.

"Great place with room for improvement in activities and costs"
Don’t hesitate to ask lots of questions, especially if this is your first time looking into assisted living. If I had another chance, I’d ask more specific follow-up questions after their initial presentation. For example, check if they offer extra services like manicures or pedicures. When they say “all-inclusive,” it only covers what they offer, not necessarily everything you might want. The middle management team has been very helpful, supportive, and easy to work with. They’re open to addressing any concerns you have. The quality of caregivers can vary; some are excellent, while others are just okay. I understand how tough their job is, and I have a lot of respect for them. I think the staff-to-resident ratio could be better, even though it's better than the minimum required. I haven’t tried the food, but it looks good, and portions seem fine. They have weekly bus trips for lunch and outings to places like museums. I wish they offered more of these trips included in the monthly fee rather than as extra charges. Overall, it’s a good value, but I’d be willing to pay more for additional activities.

"Mixed Impressions at Assisted Living Facility"
The rating might not be entirely fair since we didn't visit the facility in person. However, we received a video tour. The facility seemed outdated, but it appeared clean. Inside, there were interesting items like an ice cream parlor and a vintage New York taxi cab. The atrium entrance featured a fountain with a large staircase behind it. Although, it's worth noting that stairs and older people usually don't mix well. The community relations manager, , was lovely and very helpful.

"Best Care for Mom at Bloom's"
My mother was in Bloom's care for 6 years, including 3 years in memory care. She could not have asked for better caregivers, especially in memory care. They truly cared for and loved her. When she passed away, they were with her, along with hospice, to comfort her. It’s hard to find a better community with reasonable costs too.

"Review: Assisted Living Facility Lacks Adequate Staff and Cooperation"
Bad leadership communication. There aren't enough staff for all of the residents. Most of the staff are great, but some just hang out on their phones instead of helping residents like they should. It's really noisy with lots of alarms that take forever to turn off. I've lost lots of clothes and personal stuff in the laundry or other people's rooms, and there's not much help in getting them back.

Bloom at Belfair's staff has been wonderful to my mother. This living facility is very clean and welcoming. They offer many activities for my 87-year-old mom. She is now in memory care, but when she lived in independent living, they helped her live out one of her dreams! They arranged for her to go skydiving, and she had an amazing time! Now that she is in memory care, [Removed] has been outstanding. If I have any questions, he is always there to help! Thank you, Bloom at Belfair, for taking such good care of my mom's needs.

" "Worst Experience Ever at Bloom Assisted Living" "
Bottom-ranked Assisted Living Facility Results in Unnecessary Chaos and Expenditures for Family." My experience with this assisted living facility has been nothing but terrible. I arranged a week-long stay for my mom at their Bluffton, SC location so I could continue to work without worrying about finding caregivers. From the get-go, things weren't right. It's a memory care unit, catering to patients with dementia. My mom has slight dementia but she doesn't have Alzheimer's. She's aware of her surroundings and constantly alert. Yet, rather tumultuous and unsanitary incidents took place within the first hour we were there, making me instantly worried about the level of care at this facility. I was horrified at the lack of assistance in helping my mom to bed. Two staff members lifted her into her bed, hurting her in the process. I was so worried that I called back multiple times to make sure they were checking on her. The next day, a nurse approached me, saying my mom was having trouble breathing and they wanted to hospitalize her. I took her to the hospital instead, where it turned out she was dehydrated and just needed fluids. Ironically, the purpose of admitting her at Bloom's was to avoid hospitalization and only after a single night, we found ourselves at a hospital! After discussing this incident with Bloom's administrator and bringing up the question of a refund for the remaining days, he was non-committal and inconclusive. The hospital later discharged my mom and I decided to take her back to the assisted living facility, giving them another chance. But when I called them, they had already packed up her stuff and were reluctant about me staying for the night. What really pushed me over the edge was their denial to help me get my mom out of the car upon return. So, without much choice, I took her back home, three hours away. My mom was overjoyed to be back home. In summary, this was an incredibly draining and exasperating experience. We left the facility in worse shape than when we arrived, both physically and emotionally. I deeply regret ever connecting with this facility.

"Comfortable Assisted Living, Room for Improvement, Great Hospitality"
We had a good time visiting as we searched for a place for our mom/mother-in-law. The one-bedroom apartment was nice with a view outside, and the price seemed fair. We'd have to be careful about extra costs, though. Some of the outdoor furniture looked a little worn, but that wouldn't bother her if she had a spot to garden. We'd think about this place if we decide to move our loved one here. The apple pie they gave us was a nice treat and yummy.

"Facility Haunted by Discrimination, Neglect, and Deception"
This place has seen way too many staff changes - the boss barely pays attention. Once known as a top spot for Alzheimer care, it has lost its charm and become just an empty shell. The photos you see are from the first time a manager was around - she's long gone. They've recently been slapped with a fine by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for unfairly treating their staff, which tells a lot about this family-run business. Took mom out last month and shifted her to another facility. We've never been more grateful.

"Bloom Assisted Living: Unreliable with Poor Management and Health Care"
I'm super upset and scared for my grandma's health at Bloom. Things aren't the same since Riverside stopped managing and Bloom took over. This is the third time this year her medicines have been. She goes through awful pain and no one takes action unless my family is there. Thank goodness we can visit her almost each day. I don't trust them to take care of her unless we're constantly checking. Neither the managers nor the nurse company that they hire are helpful. We're planning to find a new home for my grandma as soon as we can.

"Unmet Expectations at Overpriced Assisted Living Facility"
My dad stayed for a year at this facility and eventually moved into the memory care unit. The aides seem uncaring and need more oversight. This place isn't equipped to properly care for patients who can't walk or have dementia, like my dad. My dad, who uses a wheelchair and struggles with dementia, fell many times, some of which they didn't inform me about and often no report was made. Even after asking for safeguards to prevent more falls, nothing was done. Also, there aren't enough activities for him; he's in the same place whenever I visit. Management claims they exceed industry standards, which if true, doesn't say much about the standards overall. While they boast about their extra services, they aren't as great as they sound or are poorly delivered. Remember, you're shelling out over $4000 every month for this. This place needs to be watched closely by family and government inspectors. Although it looks nice, it's the residents' care that matters the most. My dad is now in a VA Nursing Home, where he's healthier and getting the careful attention he needs at a third of the cost.

"Mixed Experience at Bloom at Belfair Assisted Living"
My mom's been at Bloom at Belfair for around six weeks. The place looks nice, folks are friendly, and there's plenty to do. But, there are some downsides you should know. The floor plans they show you before you rent might not match up. Our apartment was supposed to be 460 square feet, but it's only 315. And even though the brochure says there's wifi, it doesn't reach the apartments. You'd have to pay an extra $80 a month to get broadband from the local phone company. That's a big cost for someone like my mom, who's watching her spending. It's frustrating, especially since we picked this place over others partly because of these things.

The meals here are terrible and never warm. It's like my grandma is stuck in Martha Steward's federal prison cell! The rooms are freezing during winter and too hot during summer. "Stunning-looking Bloom at Belfair Disappoints in Quality Care"
Don't let Bloom at Belfair's beautiful appearance and cleanliness fool you. The facility shifted management at the end of 2013. But since October, the quality of care has plummeted. The two nurses in charge appear clueless about running an assisted living facility. They never provide satisfactory answers to questions and seem confused afterward. The care staff is downright rude, with everyone doing as they please. I believe the rent is way too high for the poor quality of care provided. The food is not good at all, and I've found that they served my family Sunday leftovers. I've also overheard staff mocking what patients eat on weekends. Jeff, who's supposed to be in charge, shows an utter lack of concern regarding complaints. Please, think twice before entrusting your loved ones to this facility!
