"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place is okay, but it’s pretty old and needs some updates. The staff is super nice and helpful. Food service is disappointing, though – dirty tablecloths and not enough staff. The food itself is decent. Activities are basic. Safety seems okay, but the guard shack is always empty.

"Awful Assisted Living Facility Neglecting Hospice Patients"
My mom was staying here as a full-time, paid resident. She was shuffled around constantly without any explanation. The place is unclean and most employees seemed to have no idea what was happening, or they just didn't care. The rooms are tiny, outdated and desperately need cleaning and a new coat of paint. I cried every time I left that place! My mom was in hospice care, but because of the poor levels of care and communication with the hospice nurse, she couldn't get the medicine she needed to alleviate her pain. Me and my sister were the ones who had to figure out that she was nearing her end. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy!

"Unpleasant Nursing Director Needs Replacing for Facility Improvement"
The woman who they call the Director of Nursing in Assisted Living is not kind or pleasant at all, especially toward her coworkers. She definitely shouldn't be in her position with the poor demeanor she has. She lacks patience when dealing with residents, as well as the correct skills to handle their needs. I really don't understand how she got hired. Replace her with a person who is amiable and truly cares, and the place will improve.

"Great for less active seniors despite staff shortages"
We picked Brookdale Anderson because it's a smaller place and my dad isn't very active, so we thought it would be a good match for him. They did have fewer staff members, but that seems to be a common problem everywhere. Overall, it was a good experience, and we would definitely suggest it to others.

"Disappointing Experience at Brookdale Rehab Facility"
My dad went to Brookdale for help. The place seemed old. Lights were sad, walls were dull. It didn't lift his mood. His therapy was good, but everything else wasn't. I had to keep calling for basic help like going to the bathroom. They didn't talk to me about his health. After many requests, he finally went back to the hospital. Then, the social worker called about his care plan but didn't know he was in the hospital.

"Careful: Fall Risk for Less Mobile Residents"
The place was neat and tidy. But once you’re living there, it seems like they don’t pay much attention to what you need. The meals and stuff to do were pretty cool. It’s probably a nicer spot for folks who can get around easily on their own because there are a bunch of tree roots sticking out on the ground that could trip you up.

"Poor communication, limited therapy, wouldn't recommend this facility."
My relative stayed during COVID, no response after calling four times. I work at a big hospital and we call families every day. Surprised no one called me. Bad communication. Many issues. Therapy was okay, but not much else. Wouldn't suggest.

"Neglected Care and Poor Conditions at Brookdale Rehab"
My mom stays in the Rehab section of Brookdale. More often than not, we spotted her in bed or her wheelchair, wet with her own urine and a puddle under her chair. She can't go to the restroom by herself and the staff take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes to check on her. Several times, we found her asleep in her chair where she had been all night, causing swollen legs. They don't do regular checks to see if residents are in their beds. Once, when I went to see her, no one had made her bed for hours, even though the sheets were right there. I had to make it myself so she could rest. Numerous times, her meals would have cookies or cakes that were stale and hard. In the TV room, you'll find many residents in wheelchairs asleep, sitting up for hours; I've seen this myself when visiting my mom.

I love Brookdale! It feels very nice and like home. Today, I signed my mom up for the transition program, where she can stay for up to 42 days at a special rate. I just wish she could afford to live here long-term. It's disappointing that there are no companion rooms for assisted living, as it would be more affordable. If she can transition to independent living in the cottages, that would be amazing! Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I have to keep looking for a nice, affordable assisted living place in Anderson like Brookdale. These things are important!

"Caring Staff but Understaffed at Brookdale Anderson"
My mom stayed at Brookdale Anderson for rehab and they did a pretty good job looking after her. They don't have enough staff, but they try their best. When it was time for my mom to leave, it was a really difficult process. I felt like the higher-ups should've been helping me instead of the nurses. It seemed like asking the nurses to help with paperwork took them away from their other important duties like giving out medications or assisting other patients. But those nurses really work hard. Overall, my mom received good care there.

""Increasing Costs and Poor Problem Resolution""
My experience with this assisted living facility hasn't been great. The way they handle their billing needs serious work. When my mom first moved here, there was a set fee. But as months have passed, the cost keeps increasing. I've tried addressing this with them but they haven't handled my concerns well. If things do not change, I'll have to think about finding a new place for my mom.

"Friendly Staff, Lackluster Activities, but Good for Independent Living"
I put my 91-year-old in the independent living part. The staff is super nice and helps with all our requests. The cottages for independent living look a bit old on the outside, but painting them would fix it. My only other complaint is they don't have a lot of different activities. They always do the same things. They need more variety. But overall, it's a good place for your loved ones. They have everything they need to live on their own. And when they need more help, it's easy to move to more advanced care.

"Types of Care Needs Good Judgement"
The place is okay, but the sales and medical team don't always agree. If your family member needs more than simple care, be cautious. This place isn't built for that, and the staff isn't taught to handle more than basic care. Reach out to the leading nurse of the place and let them know of any medical issues. They should tell you whether the place can actually take care of your loved one correctly.

"Clean and friendly, but costly"
I visited this place while looking for care options for a family member. The facility was clean and well-maintained, and the staff I met were friendly and professional. However, it was one of the more expensive places we looked at. We chose another community, but I would have considered this one for my loved one.

"Solid, but room for improvement. Care is satisfactory. Good staff."
We’ve had some ups and downs with the care here. Our family member isn’t very active, but we wish there were more activities available. The staff is okay, and they do listen and follow up on concerns. If we knew everything we know now, we’d still choose this place for our loved one. Overall, it’s nice, nothing really bad. They’ve treated our loved one well.

"Cottage-like assisted living with friendly staff, minor maintenance concerns."
We really liked the setup of this place. The staff are super nice! The apartment for our loved one feels like a cozy little cottage and even has a full kitchen. It looks nice overall, but some areas could use a fresh coat of paint. The community is all on one floor, which is great because there are no stairs, but it also means it's a bit spread out, with outdoor spaces between buildings. This can be a hassle, especially in bad weather when going to the dining room, but they do offer room service.

"Loved the Activities and People"
She was really happy there. It was a bit bigger than where she is now, but she liked it. She enjoyed the activities and the people. She even knew a few folks from living in Anderson for almost 20 years. We only moved her because I wanted her closer to me in Florida.

"Rooms too small, common areas just okay, more expensive."
I didn't like this place as much as Marchbanks. The rooms were tiny, and the shared spaces were just alright. The main reason we didn't pick it was because the rooms were smaller and it cost more.

"Mixed Experience at Health Center and Summer House Assisted Living"
My mom stayed at the Health Center for almost three months after her heart surgery and then moved to the Summer House for two months until we could bring her closer to family. The nurses were okay, but sometimes it seemed like they gave her too much medicine. The staff was caring, but since her room was at the end of the hall, she didn't always get as much attention as she needed, especially in the beginning when she needed a lot of help. There weren't many staff members around on Sundays. The people who did physical and occupational therapy with her were really great! They were patient and paid close attention to what she needed. I can't say enough good things about them. Even when she moved to the Summer House, they kept helping her learn how to live on her own again. They always talked to me about her needs and were ready to help. We're really thankful for all they did. When we decided to move my mom to the Summer House, the staff there helped us a lot. Since it was only temporary and we didn't want to move her furniture, they furnished her room for us. They did a really nice job and made the move easy for my mom and for me and my brothers, who live far away. Some of the people from the Health Center would visit her regularly even after their shifts ended, which was really nice. They really cared about her, and I know it meant a lot to my mom. The only bad thing was that my mom got a bad cough when she moved into the Summer House. We thought it might be something in the rug or cleaning products. But then my son noticed that the AC filter in the ceiling was dirty and blocked. Once we changed it, she got better. But she needed a nebulizer and more medicine for a few weeks, which wouldn't have been necessary if they had checked the maintenance more often.

"Perfect location, great staff, Dad is very happy."
I’ve worked for Adult Protective Services and visited many retirement homes. Emeritus @ Anderson Place is in the perfect location for my dad, close to his doctor appointments, shopping, and banks. He’s happy with the services and his apartment, and I am too. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. Thank you for everything.
