"Staff Welcoming and Kind; Better Than Previous Facility"
I think the staff at this place are really nice and friendly to my dad. We haven't been here very long yet to find anything that needs to be better, and it's a lot nicer than where we were before.

"Assisted Living Facility Neglects Communication and Nutrition Needs"
The place changed owners, and it seemed like they cared more about making money. They didn't talk to us as much, and they made new rules without telling us. My mom passed away earlier this year. When we talked to them before she moved in, we made sure they knew how important it was for her to have meals in her room. They promised they wouldn't give her meals in her room for more than two days without telling us or getting permission from her doctor. This was supposed to make sure she was eating and not keeping food hidden. But then, she ended up in the emergency room because she was so dehydrated her kidneys almost stopped working, and she had other problems too. We found out that they had been bringing trays of food to her room for who knows how many days without telling us. And they didn't check to see if she was eating any of it. This was just one thing that went wrong.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
This place is alright. My family member grumbles sometimes. But that's just how they are now. The staff needs to talk to us more. My family member doesn't like the food. The place is supposed to give residents options for meals.

"Choosing Simplicity for My Brother's Care"
I visited The Gables on Pelham, and it was a nice tour. However, we picked a different place because The Gables has multiple levels of care, and my brother has dementia. We wanted a single-story community to prevent confusion.

"Mixed Messages at The Gables on Pelham"
We had a nice tour at The Gables on Pelham. But when we spoke with the sales staff, the stories they told us didn't match. So, we decided it wasn't the right place for our loved one.

"Comfortable and Engaging Assisted Living Near You"
We picked The Gables on Pelham because it's close by and really clean, which made it feel cozy like home. It feels like everyone there is one big family residents are super nice, always smiling and happy when we visit. They're also really involved and have tons of stuff to do, like entertainment, crafts, bingo, and history classes. I'd totally tell others to check it out!

"Negligence and Poor Services at Assisted Living Facility"
When we moved our mom into this assisted living facility, we were met with a lack of concern from the executive director, who always kept a distance from our family. The meals served here did not match what was advertised on the menu at the entrance of the dining hall. Often, the food - like partly frozen chicken or room-temperature soup - was strange and unappetizing, for example, lasagna served with corn and a roll. Finding wholesome, healthy options was a challenge most of the time. It seemed like there was no regard for balanced meals, which was disappointing. The staff here worked tirelessly, but it was clear they were overloaded with tasks. Often, our mom's medications would go missing or they took too long to refill because the executive nurse lacked urgency for important issues like this. This nurse did not respond or acknowledge emails despite our repeated attempts over a two-month period. Due to mishandling of her medications, our mom had a severe accident on her carpet. Despite our repeated requests, the carpet was not cleaned even after 2 and a half weeks, with the cleaning staff saying they didn't have a carpet cleaner. This lack of attention and genuine care from a place meant to prioritize the wellbeing of the elderly was baffling and worrisome. We were so anxious for our mom's life, we had to remove her from there.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Overall, we're happy with the assisted living facility. Like anywhere, we've had some problems, such as issues with laundry and occasional confusion with another resident regarding medical matters. It seems there have been many staff changes lately, which might explain some of the confusion. Despite this, we appreciate the convenience of the location. Most people, including the residents, are friendly. Our loved one enjoys the new chef. However, communication between staff and residents could be better. Nevertheless, we're generally pleased with our experience.

"New Management Ruins Quality of Care at The Gables"
My mom stayed at The Gables for about 3 years. Everything was good until the last year when new management came in. This brought about staff changes and a huge drop in how they cared for the residents. This involved medical care, cleanliness, and regular cleaning. We had no choice but to move my mom to a different facility. With plenty of Covid cases at The Gables, I wouldn't recommend putting your relative there.

"Great Memory Care Unit!"
This place has a new name now. We’ve noticed they’re sticking to the same good rules that Brookdale had. No complaints so far. They’re keeping us informed, especially since my brother tested positive. Communication is great. Compared to other places we’ve been, this one is like night and day in terms of activities and care. The memory care unit feels like a family—they encourage residents to participate in activities. When you walk in, you hear laughter and see smiles; it’s not like the lost look we saw elsewhere.

"Feels Like Family, Great Care and Communication"
This place feels like a big family. The residents feel cared for and happy. They love joining in activities. The staff is easy to talk to and keeps us updated. All the rooms are studios. The food is good, and there's a menu to choose from. We feel safe with him at Brookdale. They take great care of him and follow up well. Doctors and PAs visit every week.
