"Disappointing Experience at Carolina Gardens Assisted Living"

Our time at Carolina Gardens wasn't great. The food wasn't tasty and the staff weren't very nice. They changed workers a lot and only did what they had to. After what we went through, I wouldn't suggest it.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short Despite Caring Staff"

It's sad to give a bad review to a place that looked after your loved one for many years. Carolina Gardens at Kathwood has potential and some kind, caring people on staff (especially the kitchen staff who have been there a long time and are fabulous), but the place has problems. Over the years, it's been sold multiple times. The elevator is often broken, and it's no surprise to see one or both out of service when you visit. The grounds are nice, and the facility looks good. But the level of care sometimes wasn't very good. There was always a new leader, and you can't be top-notch under those conditions.

"Clean, friendly, and convenient assisted living with excellent amenities."

I visited assisted living and was impressed by what I saw. It was clean and looked well taken care of. Many residents were happy to be getting on the bus for their shopping trip to Walmart on Wednesday. The building has three floors and there's an elevator so it's easy for everyone to get around. The dining areas and lounges with TVs are set up pretty much the same on each floor. Everything looks like it was recently updated, and it's easy for residents whether they're using a wheelchair or walking.

"Mom's choice."

We visited Carolina Gardens at Kathwood, a clean, friendly community. Ultimately, my mom decided elsewhere.

"Disappointing Visit and Poor Follow-up At Assisted Living Facility"

My visit to this assisted living facility was quite disappointing. The person in charge, the executive director, wasn't there to show us around, so a nurse had to do it. Even though the facility looked clean and maintained, the apartment we saw was in terrible shape. After our visit, no one bothered to follow up with us. The place definitely needs major improvements. I wouldn't suggest anyone to choose this community.

"Assisted Living Tour: Friendly Guide, Orderly Environment"

When I visited this community, it felt more like assisted living. Few residents were out and about. The friendly tour guide answered all my questions, and everything seemed in order.

"Assisted Living Facility Faces Challenges After New Management"

My Aunt lived there for almost two years. A new company took over, and things went downhill. The front door can be opened with a code but doesn't lock right away, so anyone can leave after someone else exits. My Aunt has Dementia and keeps escaping. They didn't watch her closely, and she got hurt once at Publix, over a mile away. She lost her boyfriend and was grieving. They didn't even help her out of bed to eat. We're moving her to another home for better care. The activity director left due to budget cuts, and most of the old caretakers are gone.

"Great Activities, Needs Better Communication"

Our time at Agape Senior of Kathwood was short, but they did a good job overall. The place looks nice and is well kept. They did a great job keeping the residents active and involved. The activities director is fantastic! However, I think they could have been better at communicating both among the staff and with the families.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Visit"

We had a nice visit, but it doesn’t quite meet my mom’s needs. Thanks for the tour.

The staff was really helpful and quick to get back to me. I would definitely suggest them to anyone looking for a place for Mom.

"Flexible Social Activities and VA Aid Support"

The staff mentioned that my dad can participate in social activities even if he doesn't reside there. They also offer assistance with VA Aid & Attendance.
