"Assisted Living Facility Misleads and Underdelivers Services"

I would advise you to find another place for your loved one. This housing community has not been truthful about the services they provide. The emergency call button in the resident's room doesn't even work, despite them being aware of the issue. They failed to inform us about COVID-19 cases among the residents, leaving us in the dark. We had to rely on the word of another resident just to find out. Despite promises of a full activity schedule and outings for its residents, bingo is the only activity they actual provide. The Wi-Fi connection is very weak in every area except near the office, which makes it ineffective for the residents. The cleaning services they promised are infrequent and when done, they are not thorough. The facility doesn’t have the qualified nursing staff they promised. Instead, medication assistants, some of whom are uncertified, are entrusted with distributing medication to the residents. They claimed to provide cable TV in the rooms but to access this, you need Wi-Fi, which barely works. Moreover, they charge residents for this cable service.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Communication and Dementia Care"

My relative stayed here. They tried hard, but didn't communicate well with us. Staff didn't talk about health issues or plan care between shifts. They said they could help with dementia, but ended up needing extra help, which they didn't explain would cost more. Okay for regular care, not good for dementia.

"Mixed Experience: Poor Food and Inadequate Care, but Good Activities"

The food is really bad because there aren't enough options or portions, and it doesn't have enough flavor. The community isn't taking good care of our loved one by not giving baths, clipping nails, and other needed things. There are a lot of activities for the residents to do, if they want to.

"Nice staff, good place, recommend to others"

There was a problem with my dad's food needs. The staff was nice, and it was a good place. I would recommend this community to others.

"Satisfied with Hammond Place Assisted Living"

My parent has been living at Hammond Place for two months. The studio apartment has everything she needs. The place is clean and well-lit. The Dining Room is nice and the food is okay. I've had lunch and dinner there but not breakfast. Every third Thursday is Family Night where family can join residents for dinner. They give residents a monthly activity calendar. It doesn't have a lot of variety but it's okay. They have a bus and take residents out to eat and shopping. They can also take residents to doctor appointments. The staff is very kind, patient, and always say hello. I suggested updating the facility page in their entrance package. The current one is very basic and not very helpful. I just found out there's a communication book for staff and a request for services form. These should be on the facility page. It would also be nice to have staff names and short bios, especially for the management team. There are three management staff - a recruiter, a director, and an RN. Even with their titles, I wasn't sure who to go to with my questions but have since gotten to know all three. I'm still not sure when and how resident apartments are cleaned and what that involves. This should also be on the facility page! The trash is emptied every day which is good. The outside of the building needs some attention. The front porch is sagging and the outer and inner entrance doors need cleaning and painting. There's comfortable furniture on the front entrance porch and in the courtyard. The courtyard has a covered area and a pergola-style roof. They also have a pet rabbit named Rusty, and he's cute. I like the facility because it's small and close to where I live. The staff seem to know the patients and families well. There are a few things that could be updated or changed, but overall, things are going well. Making a decision about a place like this is hard, but I feel like most of the staff care and do a great job.

"Failed Refund of Assisted Living Facility Deposit - Caution!"

In August 2018, we gave a deposit, supposedly refundable, to this assisted living facility. However, we later chose another place and requested our deposit back. Despite multiple tries, we're consistently told, "We'll update you when we hear something." Now, it's February 2019 and we're still waiting after several reaches. Looks like our next steps are seeking legal advice, heading to the local court, and lodging a complaint with the State Secretary. Seems like it's a situation of 'let the buyer beware'... so, watch out, buyers! I'll be stunned if this review actually gets published.

"Great Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

My mom has been living here for 16 months, and we're happy with the place overall. It's really clean, and the people who work here are nice. They always use our names when they talk to us. They have activities like music, exercise, and bingo a few times each week for the residents. The security is good too. We've never thought about moving her anywhere else.

"Underqualified Care and Irresponsible Supervisor at Facility"

They don't have a registered nurse like they said they would. Medicine gets confused a lot. The person in charge,, acts nice and professional to start with but then it all changes. She doesn't handle issues. I'm gonna move my family member as soon as I find a new place.

"Medicines Mismanaged, Rooms Dirty, and No Nurse on Site"

The folks here don't give out meds the right way. They also don't order more when they run out. Two people even had their painkillers stolen and nobody did anything. They don't clean the rooms enough. The boss has been mean more than once. We've called the front desk a bunch of times asking for help, but no one ever shows up. They say there's a real nurse working there, but we never saw one.

"Hammond Place: Poor Management and Lack of Care"

I would advise against picking Hammond Place in North Augusta, South Carolina. They make a bunch of fancy promises to convince you to sign up and pay your $4,000 moving-in fee. But once that's done, the whole situation turns on its head. They seem to lack readiness or even the desire to offer the needed assistance. The management quality is dismal, as is the care provided.

"Inadequate Care at Assisted Living Facility"

For roughly six months, my parents were residents at this facility. My mother, who has been wheelchair-bound for a while, frequently had to wait for assistance to get transferred to her bed and even to be changed when required. My father, suffering from Alzheimer's, managed okay when my mom was present, but we had to move her to a rehab center to help improve her strength. Meanwhile, my dad was on his own at Hammond and there were multiple times he was forgotten about without receiving his meals on time. Due to his Alzheimer's, he assumed he had eaten. I strongly discourage anyone who requires more than basic accommodations from staying at this facility.

"Great option for my mother!"

I was really impressed. When I arrived, I met [name]. We talked about my mother and her needs. After a few minutes, [name] introduced me to the new Executive Director, [name]. They discussed my mother’s needs more. My mother didn't want to come in and stayed in the car. [Name] showed me around the facility, including the different rooms and activity areas for residents. She was clear about what the staff does and knew each resident well. She answered all my questions. The facility was bright, inviting, and well-maintained. At the end, she asked if she could meet my mom. I let her visit my mom in the car, and I was impressed by [name]'s kindness and concern. I still want to visit a few more communities, but this one showed me a great option for my mother.

"Great place for Mom!"

My mom just moved into this community and everything's been great. We're really happy with our choice. The staff has been super helpful during the transition, always making sure Mom's needs are met. She loves eating with other residents and joining in on activities. Overall, it's been perfect for us and I'd recommend it to anyone.

"Great staff and security measures in place!"

Mom is still getting used to living here. The staff has been amazing—so nice and friendly! The administration worked well with us to place a camera in her room, so we can check on her. This has worked out great. Mom mostly likes the food; they serve a main meal at lunch and something light for dinner. Her room is spacious enough for some of her own furniture to make it feel like home.

"Bright, Clean, Great Staff - Recommend for Loved Ones"

The place was really nice and clean. The people who showed me around were super nice and answered all my questions. They have cool stuff to do every day, and the place has some nice things to use. I think other people should come and see if they like it for their family.

"Great care and social activities!"

My mother just moved into this community, and I couldn't have chosen a better place for her. The staff is excellent, from the front to the back. I was happy to see that even with her health issues, she is getting out and enjoying the outings and the social environment. They make sure she eats and gets her medication on time, which gives me peace of mind.

"Bright, Happy, But Too Far: Great Activities, Long Distance Disappoints"

The place was really bright, no bad smells at all. The halls were wide and everyone there seemed happy. The people who work there were nice and talked with the folks who live there. I liked all the things they had for people to do. It wasn't the cheapest, but it was close. If it wasn't so far from where we live and work, and if our mom didn't already live in a different state, it might be our second choice.

"Feels Like a Resort"

This place felt like a resort when I visited. They have nice amenities and daily activities. They do charge extra for services like helping with medication. The rooms here are a bit smaller than the ones at the place we picked. They don’t accept Medicaid.

"A tour for good care"

I visited this place for my mom's care. The community was clean, and the staff was nice. They had activities available. However, they didn't provide the care I needed at that time. I recommend families to check out the community to see if it fits their loved one's needs.

"Costly but good service and management at Hammond Place"

This place is really good for anyone who might need their help. It's easy to get to, and the food is okay. The people who run it are better than most, and they plan things well. They always keep your family updated. But it costs a lot.

"Moderate Experience at Hammond Place, North Augusta"

The activity organizer is really good here! There's been quite a bit of staff coming and going, Medications aren't administered the right way, They keep raising the price - $2000 in under a year and another hike because of care level but nothing's really changed! I am looking into moving her to another place.

"Mom's Care Assisted Living: A Friendly and Helpful Environment"

My mom's been there only 12 days but she's doing pretty well. The staff are friendly and helpful to her. She had a couple of falls, but they let us know right away and checked her for injuries. Overall, we're happy with the food and staff. She's there for a short break, but we're thinking about staying longer.

"Great Activities and Staff!!"

The community was always really nice and clean. They had a lot of activities like bingo and exercises that residents could lead. The meals were great, and family members could eat with the residents anytime. The only problem was they didn't take special requests for softer food for my mom, who had a sore mouth from her dentures. The staff was amazing. I will probably recommend this place to a friend.

"Very helpful team improving my grandmother's health and mood!"

Hammond Place has been really helpful with my grandmother's needs. By working together, we have improved her mood and health. The team here is great at solving common issues that come up!

"Improving Assisted Living After a Rough Year"

It's getting better now, but the past year was not that great. Sometimes, the food was really bad, and too many employees were leaving. But it looks like things are improving and I hope they keep doing so.

"Wonderful assisted living community; so impressed with everything!"

We were really impressed with everything – the atmosphere, the staff, the rooms, and the daily schedule! The only challenge for us is our age (88 and 89); we need a bit more help and would have to move again soon. But as an assisted living place, it’s wonderful!

"Improvements Needed in Assisted Living Facility"

There should be an orientation for new residents, lacking before. A nurse must be present Monday to Friday, with support on weekends. Not all residents can keep up, needing more staff assistance. Staff are overworked and underpaid. Overall, improvements are happening, but more are needed.

"Wonderful care, clean community, and great meals for my mom"

This is a wonderful place. They take great care of my mom and meet all her needs. The staff is very kind and truly cares for her. The community is clean and nice-looking; I wouldn’t have chosen it otherwise. She’s trying out some of the activities, and they even offer fun outings outside. The chef is amazing, and the meals are really tasty. Overall, I’m very happy with this place. I’d highly recommend it.

"When I stopped by, nice staff but not for Mom."

When I visited, I didn't see many residents. It was probably meal time. The community was clean, and the inside looked updated. They were changing the wall paint color. Everyone was very nice, and I had a good tour. This just wasn't the right place for my mom.

"Wonderful place with caring staff!"

I had lunch at Ryan's this week and met the activities director and about five residents. She was so caring and helpful, showing how much she loves her job. The residents were smiling and really enjoying themselves. If the whole staff is as kind as her, then this must be a wonderful place. When my time comes, Hammond Place will be my first choice.

"Excellent Assisted Living with Caring Staff and Happy Residents"

My husband and I have really enjoyed our time at Hammond Place in North Augusta, SC. The staff and management are fantastic and always quick to address any issues. I'm happy with the care my husband is getting, and he looks content and happy. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a home for their loved one. The administrator seems to play a big role in how well the staff works together.

"A Caring Bunch!"

Hammonds Place has been a blessing for my husband and me. He used to be in a place that kept him drugged up a lot. Now, he’s very happy and in a good mood most of the time. They make sure he is comfortable and clean, and he loves the food. I'm so happy knowing he's being taken care of. The whole staff is a great bunch! They truly care.

"Evaluation of Monday Visit to Hammond Place Assisted Living"

Stopped by on Monday. Lots of good stuff, super kind, sharp staff who don't seem overworked; some worries about Mom here cause her room can't lock and she might wander off, even with 'regular checks'; opened my eyes to 'assisted living' versus 'skilled nursing' in terms of how they care; costs more than where Mom's at now.

"Great Staff, Okay Food, Rough Transition, Plenty Activities"

They've been really nice and helpful. The food looks good, but she doesn't like it. She's still adjusting and not joining the activities yet. But they offer them. The workers are really awesome, no issues there.
