Lake Wylie Retirement and Assisted Living

"Comfortable and Convenient Assisted Living Facility"
My dad chose this community for his apartment because it has everything he needs. There's a small kitchen, a cozy sitting room, and a separate bedroom. Whenever I have questions or want to talk about my dad's care, the staff is always there to help. It's nice to know that we can count on them.

"Not enough activities at Lake Wylie"
We visited Lake Wylie and thought it was a nice place. But we didn't choose them because they didn't have as many activities.

"Great tour, but care needs not met"
The tour at Lake Wylie was great. They couldn't take my loved one because of their care needs. If they could, we would have picked them.

"Improvements made, small memory care unit, flat rate pricing"
We had some ups and downs, but things are getting better. The onboarding wasn't good; it took 2 months to get my loved one in after I paid the deposit. The girl helping me isn't there anymore. I had a hard time with the memory care director at first. She's very young but growing on me. She addresses every issue right away and always answers the phone. When I visit, people are outside, activities are happening, and everyone is engaged. I like that everything is included in the price, so there's a flat rate with no extra fees like other places we looked at. I also like that the memory care unit is small, with only 16 residents, so the staff can give individualized attention. I have peace of mind with my mom here and would recommend this place to others, even though it took a while to settle in.

"Mixed Experience at Lake Wylie Assisted Living"
We kept coming back to Lake Wylie. Dad liked the veteran pictures. Activities are great, but Dad doesn't join. He loves the food, good portions, never hungry for snacks. Staff slow to answer calls/emails; communication needs improvement. Initial sales lady disappeared post-move-in. Overall, good place, Dad's doing well. Would recommend.

"Loved One Thrives in Warm, Welcoming Assisted Living Environment"
Our loved one feels at home at Lake Wylie Assisted Living. The facilities are super clean and cozy. The staff, from maintenance workers to the top management, are amazing! They all work together wonderfully and know many residents by name. It's clear they build relationships with each one. We're thrilled knowing our loved one is happy, active, and, most importantly, safe!

"Clean, safe, good activities, but expensive"
Lake Wylie Assisted Living was clean and well-maintained. The memory care activities were nice. I liked the cabinet locks in the rooms to prevent clients from rummaging through their clothes. I didn't try the food. The respite stay is too long at 30 days. Overall, it was a good experience, but it's pricey.

"Mixed Review: Good Tour, Farther Location, Pricier and Smaller Rooms"
The tour was good, but the place was far. Rooms smaller, larger facility, slightly pricier.

"Mother's Treatment Improves After Move from Assisted Living to Hospice"
I couldn't really appreciate hospice care until now. After having my 89-year-old mom, who has Alzheimer’s, moved to a hospice from the assisted living facility we had chosen, I realized the stark difference in care. For the past three weeks, we've had several emergency room visits and calls that paint her as a 'danger to herself and others'. Also, calls about her refusing to take medications, showing signs of aggression, and not eating or drinking, all common behaviors in Alzheimer's patients. But isn't 'memory care' supposed to be specifically trained to handle these behaviors? Apparently not in our experience. Their solution was to send our elderly loved ones to a psychiatric ward for the elderly. No one cared to meet with me to discuss her care plan, nor answer my numerous emails, let alone help me with this tough decision as my mom's Power of Attorney (POA). However, everything changed at the hospice. Suddenly my mom was happy. She took her meds willingly, ate what she was given, and was absolutely nice and relaxed. Here, she was treated with dignity and respect. Before you choose a facility, make sure you ask specific questions and get their policies in writing.

"Good Value with Room for Food Improvement"
We chose Lake Wylie because it’s the best value for the money around here. The food options could be improved, though—the menu feels limited. Overall, I’d recommend it to others.

"Supportive Independence with Social Perks"
Assisted living communities help seniors stay independent while providing care. They offer services like bathing, meals, and medication management. Social activities are a plus.
