"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
This place didn't have enough staff. Mom couldn't work the call button and would yell for help at night. We had to rush back to calm her down because they wouldn't pick up the phone. Mom stayed for a month but they wanted to charge us for an extra month. We had to talk to higher-ups to sort it out. They even messed up her medicine. I regret not keeping Mom at home. It's something I'll always feel bad about.

"Better Fit Found"
We visited Pines of Columbia. The sales lady was great! But another place suited our loved one better.

"Caring Staff, Poor Management, Would Not Return"
This assisted living place doesn’t have enough workers. The people in charge aren’t doing a great job. The food is just alright. But the folks who take care of the residents are amazing. They treat everyone with respect and really connect with them. They show they care a lot. I really liked the people who worked directly with the residents. The main nurse and the ones who looked after my mom were so kind and loved her a lot. When my mom was very sick, one of them even asked if they could keep something small to remember her by. They were always so gentle with her. We had a camera in her room, and we could see they were always genuine. But there were times when we had to rush over in the middle of the night because no one answered the phone when my mom was scared and forgot how to call for help. This happened because sometimes there were only 3 to 5 people working for the whole place, which has 84 rooms. The people running the place didn’t seem to care and didn’t keep their promises to us. I wouldn’t pick this place again.

"Clean and Friendly Tour at Pines Columbia"
I toured Pines Columbia when looking for Assisted Living for my mother. It was a good tour. The place was clean and the people were friendly. The staff seemed good too.

"Quality Decline in Assisted Living Facilities"
In the past, the service, upkeep, and care for patients and the elderly were excellent. However, over the last couple of years, the quality of service has declined. The rooms are not well-maintained, and the staff seems less attentive. Although some staff members are doing their best, overall care still falls short. I understand that COVID has impacted businesses, but hospitals, senior care facilities, and schools should maintain high standards. I hope the next visit shows more attention to detail, cleanliness, and compassionate care.

"Staff Needs Better Medication Supervision"
Don't count on your loved one being well cared for without help from family. The staff needs close supervision, especially when giving out medications.

"Inconsistent Care Raises Concerns at Assisted Living Facility"
Make sure you keep talking to the staff to check on your loved one. They don't always respond quickly or consistently, so you need to stay watchful. They're not giving her medicine right we keep finding it on the floor. She's fallen a few times already. They're charging us for doctor visits, physical therapy, and occupational therapy, but they never tell us when she needs or gets this care. We have to keep asking about these things.

"Poor Service and Lack of Cooperation at Assisted Living Facility"
This place got my dad's meds from Senior Health Associates even after I told them my dad only had insurance through the VA, not Remedi, their in-house pharmacy. My dad doesn't pay for his VA. When I checked with the VA, I found out this place hadn't bothered to order free insulin for almost a year. On top of that, they sent the bills to my dad's room, even though I'm his authorized representative and he has dementia. The person in charge told a nurse not to show me a count of my dad's pills or other important info. She claimed I needed to sign a form to get this info, but didn't even have the form for me to sign, even though she had plenty of time to get it to me. This made it impossible for me to get all the details together for my dad's VA doctor visit - a meeting I had to take off work for. These folks just don't cooperate with the VA like they say they do. I'm convinced the boss was being stubborn and refused to give me the information I needed out of spite. My dad's room stinks like pee and they still haven't given me a care plan like I asked them for. Plus, my dad's diabetic and the food they're serving him isn't right for him.

"Terrible Meals, Forgotten Family Member at Elderly Residence"
Our family member was there for just a few months until we decided to move them elsewhere. They told us breakfast was okay, but the rest of the meals were pretty bad. They did have activities, but our family member was never asked or encouraged to take part. We were told when they moved in that they would get great care and everything they needed, but that just wasn't true. Our family member needed help moving to the dining room in a wheelchair and was often forgotten about. No one from housekeeping ever came to clean their room, we had to do it ourselves when we visited. The Lexington has new people in charge now and we hear they're making things better.

"Safe Environment with Room for Improvement"
Overall, I think your loved one would be safe at this place. The main problem I noticed is that the building is getting old and needs some repairs. Also, the courtyard could use some updating and make it look more modern. I wish there were more options for vegetarian meals for the people who live here, or at least the chance to pick what they want from a menu. I think other people should consider this community.
