"Friendly Assisted Living with Quick Staff Responses"
During our tour, the friendly marketing manager answered all our questions and showed us available room plans. Overall, it seemed like a nice place, with quick staff responses and dining options.

"Solid Assisted Living Choice in Greenville"
We picked Kempton of Greenville because of the friendly staff, convenient location, and it seemed safe. Each resident gets a lanyard with a button to call for help if needed. The room we got is nice, but the layout makes it feel a bit cramped it's a 1-bedroom with a den. My advice to others would be to communicate clearly about your loved one's needs and make sure they follow through. They could do better with cleaning the rooms. Overall, I would recommend it to others who are looking for a place like this.

"Avoid This Facility: Poor Management, Lack of Care and Unkind Practices."
My mom went to the hospital and they wouldn't let her come back. This is wrong. Laws don't help the elderly when this is done for so-called medical reasons. The hospital said that mom has dementia - something she had when she first moved in four months ago. The people who truly cared for my mom and stood up for her got fired. The rest quit. Unless there's new management, I'd stay far away. Don't be tricked by the pretty decorations in the entrance area. If you can hire someone for home care or find another place, do it.

"Looks Can Deceive: A Cautionary Tale of Assisted Living"
If you're seeking an elderly-friendly apartment with a touch of aid, this place might suit you. However, it's a NIGHTMARE for dementia patients. Their memory care isn't designed for those who are still quite active. In the assisted living area, my mom faced constant problems. I discovered she was sleeping in her jeans because no one would assist or motivate her to prepare for bed. The management disregarded my calls and even had a group text with other employees instructing them not to communicate with us. The food was barely passable, with a lot of fried items, but it was served in a "restaurant style". We've since located a far superior facility and haven't had a single problem since leaving Oakleaf/Kempton of Greenville. I've gained a wealth of knowledge about what's really happening in assisted living facilities and what to watch out for. Don't let the attractive decor deceive you.

"Facility Fails to Provide Adequate Alzheimer's Care During Pandemic"
My mom has Alzheimer's and tried to escape, which is common for people battling this illness. In response, the staff sent her to the hospital and just left her there. For five days, she had no fresh clothes or any essentials, and they wouldn't even allow her to return with a sitter. This all happened during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Who does such a thing? They had no medical justification for this - they just failed to provide the care they advertised, showing a complete lack of professionalism. Thankfully, we've since discovered a new home for my mom, where they treat her with patience and compassion.

"Facility Abandons Alzheimer's Patient at ER, Fail to Provide Advertised Care"
My mom has Alzheimer's and tried to leave, which is common for people with this illness. They sent her to the ER and just left her there for five days. She had no change of clothes, nothing. They wouldn't let her come back, even with a sitter, during the height of the COVID-19 outbreak. Who does that? There was no health-related reason for this. They just can't provide the care they claim to offer. It's completely unprofessional. If you care about your family members, stay away from here.

"Spacious Assisted Living with Staff Support"
They’re sprucing up the common areas, which will look lovely soon. The facility is spacious, with plenty of helpful staff. However, the long corridors and elevators might confuse my dad.

"Poor Care and High Turnover Mark This Assisted Living Facility"
You definitely don't want a dear family member living here. There's always new faces, with managers changing regularly. We've been airing our concerns, promised it'll be fixed, but nothing changes. I've seen with my own eyes - caregivers barely pay any attention when moving my mother-in-law from her wheelchair to her chair. I hate to see her not being cared for. I could say a lot more, but my advice is just steer clear.

"Neglected Residents and Poor Services at Thornblade Assisted Living"
Definitely avoid this place. Right now, my mom is there but we're in the process of moving her out. They have a hard time retaining staff, which tells you there's something seriously amiss. A few of the folks who work there are great and take care of the residents well, but then there are others who just lounge about, engrossed in their phones, while my mom is left blankly staring at a TV screen. The meals they serve are absolutely dreadful and my mom has lost a significant amount of weight because of it. The actual building isn't in good condition either. My mom actually went for a week without hot water and that wasn't the first instance. They don't administer her medications the right way either. To top it off, my son caught a staff member napping on the job. Even after we reported it, the same employee is still there, dozing off without a care. This place is horrible and definitely shouldn't be associated with the prestigious Thornblade community. Be warned if you're considering this for your loved one – the management may seem impressive but once you're in, it's total chaos.

"Decline in Care Quality at Assisted Living Facility"
We moved our loved one to this place when it was great. The staff seemed to care a lot. But things changed. Dryers broke and stayed broken. Wet clothes were put away wet. The front desk wasn’t always covered. One time, a resident fell and no one from management came to help. They don’t keep track of where residents are, so some miss meals or sleep a lot. There are a lot of new staff, so they don’t know the residents well. The place is still clean, though. The main problem is that lots of staff leave, which means things aren’t managed well. We were sad to leave because our loved one liked it there, but they weren’t getting enough attention. Our loved one didn’t need much help, but there were more bad days than good. We might have stayed for the memory care side, but if the management is the same, it wouldn’t be better. We appreciate the staff who cared, but most of them left. It was hard to keep up with who was there. Good luck finding a place that cares as much as you do. We wanted to share our story so others know. We’re not trying to put down the facility, but they need to see what’s happening. Best wishes.

"A Pleasant, Pet-Friendly Assisted Living Community"
We visited Oakleaf Village when we were exploring care choices for our family member. It seemed like a great place overall, and it’s pet-friendly, which was important to us. The facility was clean, well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and professional.
