"Cozy dementia care home with pleasant views, modest rates, minor issues."

This place has a great idea for dementia care and the rooms have nice views. There are only 48 people living here. The owners and staff are very nice and it feels like a home. They take security seriously and keep the prices fair. But there were some bad smells from cleaning and not as many staff as I expected. Also, families have to take residents to doctors themselves.

"Apple Grove: Caring and Comfortable"

At Apple Grove, we found a place that truly cares for residents with Parkinson’s and dementia. Here are some highlights from our experience over the past six months: Inclusive Environment: Apple Grove aims to create a community where residents feel connected and engaged. They encourage participation in daily events and adventures throughout the facility. Spacious Amenities: The facility boasts vast gardens, large activity rooms, and even a screened-in deck with a lake view. Residents have easy access to these areas without any restrictive locks. Responsive Nursing: Nurses promptly provide first aid when needed, and they address falls and other concerns in collaboration with families. Unlike other places, they don’t just take blood pressure and call 911—they have a local doctor on call for weekly visits. Effective Staffing: The core staff at Apple Grove uses compassion and distraction effectively. Weekend staffing, which worried us elsewhere, has been reassuringly strong here.

"Great care and helpful staff for dementia patients"

My 90-year-old mother, who had dementia, received excellent care here. The managers and staff were really caring and helpful. The rooms and other facilities were very nice.

"Negligent Facility Lacks Empathy and Proper Care for Patients"

I'm so disappointed that I moved my dad into this assisted living home. The management is incredibly immature. The nursing care doesn't even meet basic standards. So, if your loved one suffers from other diseases or there's a high chance they would develop health issues down the line, I strongly advise not to send them here. Instead, choose a well-reviewed facility that can meet the long-term needs of your loved one. Here, they won't even treat minor ailments like a UTI. They send residents to the ER every time. The nurse assistants aren't much better. My family and I waited almost an hour for help after calling them, so we ended up taking care of him, despite paying so much for these services. They hardly ever cleaned or dressed my dad, largely leaving him in bed and not letting him sit in his wheelchair for meals. When my dad had a severe stroke and needed more care, we saw they couldn't handle his needs. We also noticed half his clothes were gone, even though they were all labeled. Weeks after my dad moved out, I was called by a bill collector who told me bills were sent to this place since he had to be taken to the hospital so many times. Nobody here told me about this. They eventually sent me the bills, but their lack of communication was infuriating because it was causing more debt to pile up. After my dad passed away, we called them again to ask about mail. They offered no sympathy and told us they sent all his mail back to the sender, which means more hassle for us to pay his bills. Their lack of basic decency and empathy is all you need to know about this place. For the record, my dad liked the next nursing home much better. While he couldn't say why, it was clear that, even if it wasn't as physically nice, he felt more comfortable there.

"Poor Treatment and Negligence at Assisted Living Facility"

I wish I never brought my dad to this place. The staff is immature and the nursing care is below average. If your family member has issues aside from Alzheimer's, or might get sick down the line, don't bring them here. Choose a highly-rated place that can really support their long-term needs. They even sent my dad to the ER for a basic UTI. The CNAs were subpar, too. We usually waited over 45 minutes for help, even though we paid a ton for their services. We ended up taking care of him instead. He often wasn't cleaned up or dressed properly, and they frequently left him in bed. When my dad experienced a severe stroke and needed extensive care, which they couldn't provide despite their promises, we found half his clothes gone from his room, even though we labeled them. Also, I was later contacted by a bill collector about bills they had been sending to the facility because of numerous ambulance pick-ups. The facility didn't think to inform me. I asked the director for this mail, which took over a week to receive. When I asked in person, they handed me 15 bills, no apology. I insisted they inform me if they received more mail, but they didn't. I complained to the director, who ignored me. This was my sole complaint, and it was after my dad had moved out already. Today, I asked if more mail had come due to my dad's passing and needing to manage his debts. Not a word of condolences, and they said they had returned his mail, without notifying me. Now, I have no clue where those bills will be sent to. This represents the kind of treatment you can expect here. By the way, my dad liked the nursing home we moved him to a lot more. He couldn't express why, but you could tell he was happier there.

"A Welcoming Community for Grandma"

My grandmother loves spending time at this place. It's really clean, and the staff are caring, helpful, and always pay attention. She enjoys doing crafts and being with people all day. She's made friends and now wants to go every day, not just three days a week. Grandma says the food is delicious too. It's been a great experience, and I would tell others to try it here.
