"Cozy Assisted Living with Friendly Staff"
Brookdale in Colonial Heights feels small, intimate, and comforting. The staff is super friendly and personable. The facility size is perfect for our needs. However, parking can be challenging during busy or rainy times.

"Great Tour, Concerns about Size, Opted for Superior Care"
I really liked Brookdale Colonial Heights. The tour was nice, and it was my second favorite. However, the facility was too big for my loved one who has trouble moving around, and I worried he might get lost. In the end, the place we picked was amazing and far better than any other place we visited, especially in how open, careful, and professional they are with patients who have dementia.

"Disappointing Experience at Brookedale Memory Care: Lack of Activities and Care"
My father-in-law put his wife in the memory care part of Brookedale. While she was there for 5 months, he found her on the floor twice and confused and naked once. Eventually, he moved her to another place. Here are the problems he saw at Brookedale: 1. The rooms in the Memory Care section are too big. Alzheimer’s patients usually walk around a lot, and it's hard to find the bathroom in the "apartment." 2. There are absolutely no activities for the residents in the Memory Care Unit. They just walk around, sleep, or sit. 3. There aren't enough staff members for the number of residents. 4. The staff didn’t help residents use the bathroom every 2 hours like they said they would. Mom was found in dirty clothes. 5. The meals weren’t good for Alzheimer’s patients. Alzheimer’s makes it hard for patients to use utensils. Finger foods would be better.
