"Poor communication and questionable billing practices at Assisted Living Facility"
The office manager at this assisted living facility never answers calls to her cell phone or responds to emails. She then tells your family members that they owe loads of money, which is completely incorrect. She is known for not communicating and is always missing. People say she's somewhere at Dean Hill, but no one knows where.

"DHP Facility: Unprofessional Treatment, Lost Payments, and Lack of Support"
We had a horrible time here. The workers at DHP acted very unkind and unprofessional. My mom, who has Dementia but is still sharp, suffered a lot here. The staff made fun of her and made her eat in a corner all by herself. They let one man always control the TV and one staff member was really rude to her for not mingling with the others. My mom often had to shower by herself because no one helped her. Once, another man even walked into her shower! It doesn't stop there. They never processed the credit card payment for the first month's rent. They also lost my credit card details so I had to get a new card. I also paid a fee for activities, but they never provided any. There were times when my mom had to use the emergency button for her roommate who couldn't speak well. No one would come to help her. After a long time, when help finally came, they told my mom she should mind her own business. My mom is a retired nurse and she was simply trying to help another person, like she had done all her life. Like I said before, it was a disastrous experience.

"Disappointing Experience at Dean Hill Place"
I didn't like my time at Dean Hill Place. They need to get better at talking with us, providing service, and keeping their employees. The atmosphere was not good. The facilities were clean enough.

"Dark and Dirty Assisted Living with Poor Tour Experience"

"Reasons Not to Choose This Assisted Living Place: Low Staff and Terrible Food"
The staff at this assisted living place was generally nice to my grandmother during her stay. But, a few of them weren't very helpful. Unfortunately, the place seems to have too few staff members, often only one caregiver for each building. It's clear that one person can't handle so many residents, but the higher-ups don't seem to mind because they're not around later in the day and they don't get involved. It's sad to see how hard the staff is working. A lot have quit, leaving even fewer to handle everything. The ones who have stayed should get a raise or a bonus, but I doubt they'll get anything. Especially when you consider how much we're paying for just one room and really bad food. The food here is gross. Please don't bring your loved ones to this place.

"Positive Experience Close to Home in Reliable Memory Care"
We chose this community because it's close to home and convenient for quick visits. The memory care unit here is excellent. I'm glad my loved one is there; I feel secure, which was crucial. They really try their best to care for my loved one and all residents.

"Lack of Follow-Up and Orientation at Assisted Living Facility"
We chose this community because of its location and the smaller number of residents in each cottage. However, the food quality and quantity need improvement. While we received a lot of attention before signing the contract and moving our loved one in, there hasn't been any follow-up from the office since. Unfortunately, there was no orientation provided, so our loved one is unaware of the available amenities. Although the CNA showed me around, the same courtesy wasn't extended to our loved one.

"Great Location and Caring Staff"
The Deane Hill Place location is great for our loved one because they're still independent. They can walk to nearby places like the grocery store and mall. The building layout is nice, and the community is very clean. The workers are friendly, especially one nurse who spends extra time with our loved one. We had an issue with the community fee, but the management resolved it.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living: Food Woes, Great Nurses"
The food has gotten worse. The management changed without telling us, and our rent is increasing by several hundred dollars. Despite this, I still buy groceries for my dad every week because he can't eat the food. On the bright side, the nurses are excellent. That's why we're still here.

"Assisted Living Falls Short on Staff and Organization"
I wouldn't recommend this place for your loved ones. Compared to other places we've seen, they're not well-organized. Props to the maintenance guys, though. They're always friendly, efficient, and go the extra mile. But there just aren't enough good staff members here, and everything feels chaotic. Plus, they really need a new chef. The food is often not good at all.

"Warm and Supportive Environment for Loved Ones"

"Blunt and Heartless: Unwelcome at Deane Hill"
My encounter with the woman who toured me around was undoubtedly awful. She was blunt, heartless, and I felt like she had ulterior motives when discussing my mom's needs. She seemed to hurry me, not caring about my mother, only about filling up 'her beds'. I chose NHC for my mom because it was clear to me that they genuinely care for their patients. At Deane hill, I felt unwanted and never would I want my mom to feel like that. I would always, unequivocally, steer clear from Deane hill.

"Dean Hill Place: Disjointed Layout, Understaffed, and Unpromising"
I would advise against choosing Dean Hill Place. The living quarters are divided into numerous tiny buildings set up like a school campus. For meal times, the food is cooked in one building, and then it needs to be carried to all the other structures. Plus, they are short-staffed in their medical department, causing delays in administering medications to all the residents on time.

"Mixed Experience at Dean Hill Assisted Living"
My parent lives at Dean Hill. The rooms are well-designed with windows for sunlight and an emergency button. The cottages feel like home, comfy and clean. The staff is friendly, but the administration seems more concerned about profit. Problems persist despite requests and discussions. Meals: Many complaints about unappetizing commodity foods. My parent prefers delivery or frozen TV dinners. Activities: Geared toward children, insulting to adults. Little effort to improve activity options. Fee Surprise: Disappointed in the $3,000 "Community fee" sprung upon admission. Poor taste. Level of Care: Often short-staffed, especially on weekends. LPNs and CNAs multitask, leaving residents uncared for at times. Emergency buttons malfunctioned without prompt correction. Hope this helps others deciding.

"Room for Improvement in Deane Hill Place Assisted Living"
My family's experience at Deane Hill Place has been mostly good, but there are some areas that could be better. They don't always seem to understand each resident's unique needs. Instead, they have a one-size-fits-all approach. Also, the community fee is too high, and we weren't informed about it at the start. The website looks great, but it doesn't mention that the rooms don't come with furniture. We had to bring our own. Despite these issues, the community is very clean and odor-free, the residents are well taken care of, the food is tasty, and the staff is friendly, even though they seem to change often.

"Mixed Experience: Good Assisted Living, Needs Memory Care Improvement"
Unfortunately, my dad passed away soon after coming here, but my mom is still here. She's in the assisted living part and they take good care of her. The memory care area needs improvement, but overall, it's a nice community. I'd suggest the assisted living section.

"Warm and Caring Staff at Dean Hill Place Make a Difference"
The staff and management here are super friendly and know a lot about memory care for people with dementia and Alzheimer's. They just got a new chef, so the food is pretty good now. The rooms are clean, and there are no bad smells. The nurses are both friendly and experienced. We appreciated the discounted fees for June, especially since other places were much more expensive. They're also updating the flooring, lighting, and grounds, which means some noise at times, but the end result will be nicer cottages. Everyone, from the assistants to the directors, really cares about my mom. They keep me informed whenever I need to know something. More than anything, they show a genuine love and care for families like ours. The entertainment and activities are great, with live music every week and other fun things to keep life interesting. We’re really impressed with the place and the people. Mom seems to be adjusting well in this caring environment, just 10 minutes from our home.

"Caring Support from Day One to the End"
Moving a loved one, especially someone very independent, to an assisted living facility is tough. My mom moved to Deane Hill Place, feeling a bit nervous. It’s hard to go from being self-sufficient to needing help, but she was willing to try. Her worries went away quickly, thanks to the staff at Deane Hill Place. The small, cozy cottages allowed for personal attention from caring people. While not everything was perfect, they focused on the most important things: compassion, respect, and friendship. As mom got closer to her natural passing, she wanted to stay in her room at Deane Hill Place, surrounded by loving caretakers, friends, and family. The staff made sure she was comfortable until the end, giving strength and support to our whole family. If you have a loved one who needs attentive elder care, check out Deane Hill Place. Talk to the residents, staff, and management. Then decide for yourself. My mom would be happy you did!

"Consider Deane Hill Place for Limited Budget Assisted Living Needs"
My husband stays here. The best parts are big rooms and nice garden. But, activities and meals are just okay. Some problems with laundry and care level. To explain my rating: Care Level: Needs better staff who know residents' needs and meds. Meals: They didn't offer water initially. Now they do. Desserts, not fresh fruit. Meals adjusted for needs, balanced. Activities: Effort, but not good for less able residents. Laundry: Things get lost. Some pay for private service. P.S.: $1,500 non-refundable entrance fee.

"Mixed Feelings About the Visit"
This place was changing owners when we visited. I didn't like how it was set up. They have many small pods with about twenty people each. Everyone shares a common area and spends all day together, including meals. It had a nice atmosphere, but we wanted a place where she could have her own apartment.

"Consider Exploring Other Options First"
I'm completely unsatisfied with both the facility and its staff. They seem to handle it like a mental asylum, rather than a home providing assisted living. They show no eagerness to collaborate with families to guarantee well-being for the people living there.

"Residents Enjoy Great Treatment and Community Amenities"
I feel like everyone here is really friendly and they take good care of the people living here. My dad stays in one of the smaller communities within the facility, which I think is nice. They even have their own dining area, which is great. But, I think the people in charge could be a bit more organized, and it's not always clear who to ask when you have questions. Overall though, it's a good deal for what you get.

"Painting, Updating, and Refreshing the Community"
They are renovating, so it’s a bit hard to rate everything right now. They are painting, updating, and refreshing the place. Honestly, it didn’t even seem like it needed it before. Despite the construction, they are still providing good care. They keep the activities going, even if they sometimes get moved or postponed. Overall, it’s a really nice place, and I think it’s working out pretty well.

"Great physical therapy and secure courtyard!"
This place is really great, and they've done an amazing job so far. The entire staff has been working hard with my loved one, and the nurses and physical therapy team have been awesome. She's much more mobile now than when she first got here. The facility is clean and nice-looking. I especially like the large secure courtyard between the two memory care units; it's like a park! The only thing that could be better is having more activities on weekends, since she seems to get bored then.

Caretaker
"Top-notch care, communication needs improvement"
I don't interact with the staff as much as the other caretaker does, but the ones I've dealt with seem fine. We first placed him in a lockdown because we were worried he'd try to leave, especially since he's a former college professor with sharp cognitive skills, though his memory isn’t what it used to be. Homewood decided he’d do better in assisted living than in lockdown, and it’s been great for him. When I visited the lockdown area on a weekend, I noticed they had minimal staff, and they weren't friendly. In the regular facility, I haven’t had any issues, although they did forget to check on him once when he was sick due to a communication problem. Overall, I think the care has been more than adequate, and any mistakes have been because of communication issues. His other caretaker has talked to them, and they are working on improving their communication. Before moving to assisted living, he lived at home alone and was only eating donuts. He lost a lot of weight and had sores all over his body. Since moving into assisted living, his skin has completely cleared up, and he’s gained about 10 pounds, which shows he’s getting good care.
