"Prompt Call-Backs Matter at American House West Knoxville"
I think the staff should call back promptly when asked. Not for small talk, but to address important questions about residents. Overall, I'd recommend American House West Knoxville.

"Understaffed Assisted Living Facility Falls Short of Expectations"
I visited an assisted living facility, and here's my review: At night, there's only one person available, and no night nurse. The staff is friendly, but they're overworked and understaffed. Cleaning and laundry aren't done weekly, and dishes pile up. Getting laundry takes forever because they're short on staff. The food is good, but sometimes there's not enough silverware or drinks in the dining hall. They promised to fulfill food requests daily, but it rarely happens. The management says they'll fix things, but it takes a while. They don't communicate well either; I never got the promised updates via email or newsletter. Although they post the menu and calendar, they didn't give me a copy for my room. On the bright side, my loved one is safe, gets meals, and her meds are managed properly. The price is reasonable, but I'm concerned about the staffing issues. Overall, I'm disappointed and hesitant to recommend it.

"Terrible Experience at American House West Knoxville"
My family member was living at American House West Knoxville, and it was HORRIBLE. There were way too many problems: not enough staff and had to use agency workers, carers were sleeping while on the job, missing things, there were no snacks available, there was no outdoor place for assisted living residents and my relative couldn't go out because there weren't enough workers, my loved one was kept in bed and not helped to use the restroom, the food was always cold, and there's a lot more. I wouldn't tell others to choose American House West Knoxville.

"Assisted Living Facility Earns Praise for Caring, Safe Environment"
My mother is 99 years old and lived in her own home until moving into the Memory Care unit was a big change for her and us. After researching Memory Care centers extensively, we chose American House for its safety, cleanliness, and care. The staff, especially , the Memory Care manager, has been very helpful in her transition. His office in the unit ensures he's always available. He addresses both mental and physical needs, providing physical therapy to prevent falls. We highly recommend American House for their caring environment.

"Transition Troubles: Assisted Living Review"
The place used to be clean, but then they couldn't keep enough workers. The new company made things worse – staff left, teamwork vanished, and the meals got inconsistent. Activities were good until the activity director left. The cost went up, but the value went down. Overall, it's not worth it.

"Assisted Living Review: Staffing Challenges and Mixed Experience"
I'd advise people to research their options carefully. America House seems promising, but they're still having staffing problems. The rooms are similar, but the big windowsills won me over. Unfortunately, there's been a lot of staff turnover, affecting activities and cafeteria service. On the bright side, my 97-year-old mother enjoys her friends and the staff treats her well.

"Mixed Experience at American House Assisted Living Facility"
Most workers are nice, taking good care of my mom. After a change in ownership to American House, things are changing. They’re losing staff and haven’t hired new ones yet. They’re interviewing though. No main chef or activities director right now. The marketing person is new too. I've told them my worries recently. We'll see if they make changes. They have a monthly meeting for residents and families to share needs and thoughts. There will be some good changes with the new owners. They’ll put in new carpet and a roof, but it’ll take a while.

"Elmcroft Fails to Maintain Quality Care and Staff Levels"
Elmcroft isn't as good as it was before. Protect your family member who could be living there. They are transferring people to Memory Care (which is in the building's basement...you should drop by without notice) without valid reasons related to memory care needs or more attention required. The facility is seriously short on staff, activities are neglected, and their idea of a solution is shifting residents from Assisted Living to the Memory Care area.

"Not a good fit for special needs."
During our tour at American House West Knoxville, we were impressed. However, it wasn't a good fit for my loved one due to unmet special needs.
