"Maristone: Years of Bad Management, Poor Care, Staff Turnover"
My mom lived at Maristone. We'd seen lots of different managers and lots of people leaving the job, but the management and has been the absolute worst. There were even several state investigations into the place this year alone. After my mom fell one night, they just left her on the floor overnight because they don't check in on the residents after giving out medication at dinner. This occurred twice and nobody told me on both occasions. The Director even tried to hide it. The staff keeps changing. They had seven different heads of nursing in a single year because things are pretty bad. Also, the hallways often stink like pee. Plus, the food is not tasty. I think this place is a nightmare and just a lawsuit waiting to happen.

"Services Fall Short of Expectations at Assisted Living Facility"
I've noticed that the services here aren't exactly as they were told. For instance, they say they'll clean a little each week, but it seems more like every 10 or 12 days. The laundry is supposed to be done weekly, but it's very inconsistent, also every 10 or 12 days. The amount of food they give out is pretty small, especially at dinner. When my mom told me they go to bed hungry, it really made me sad.

"Assisted Living Experience: Not Ideal for My Mom"
Looking back, the assisted living place wasn't right for my mom. She was sicker than we knew, and we didn't get a clear idea of how serious her illness was or how long she might live. We felt rushed to choose a place without understanding her abilities fully. We thought she was just sad, but she was actually very sick and couldn't do much. She needed oxygen, which made it harder for her to move around. The months before she passed away were stressful for our family. She wasn't at Maristone for long, only about 3-4 weeks. She had a tough time there because she needed more help than we realized. So, all in all, it wasn't the best situation for her.

"Chose another facility offering more value for the price."
I had a good tour at Maristone of Franklin. However, when I compared it to the one we chose, I felt the other place offered a lot more for the money.

"Good staff, but some care and service issues"
This place just got a new Executive Director and is going through some changes. I'm a bit hesitant to give feedback since things could change, but I wanted to share our experience so far. Overall, the facility is very clean, but Dad's room could be cleaner. The staff and nursing care have been amazing, with some staff members being truly exceptional. However, they've started using agency staff, and the quality has dropped. A few regular staff members make a big difference, like the chef, who is incredibly kind and caring. The food is okay, and activities used to be great but aren't as good lately. The Activities Director hasn't been as active recently. They switched to a new medication management company, which has caused issues with charting and communication. The previous Executive Director was very accessible and communicated well, which I loved. The new Executive Director doesn't seem as involved or interactive. The former sales lady was amazing and always helped resolve problems, but she's been promoted, so we don't have her assistance anymore. The facility is reasonably priced, but the pricing and care needs can be tricky. We've had issues with Dad's contract for care. It included shower assistance, regular check-ins, and help with dining, but these services weren't provided. When I asked about it, they changed his contract to less care, which was frustrating. There's a common area for residents upstairs, but not downstairs where they spend most of their time, which I wish they would change. Overall, the place isn't terrible, but we've had some issues that I hope will get better.

"Mixed Experience at Senior Living Community"
This place has a doctor available, but our insurance won't cover it, so we have to find our own. The staff are really nice. It's an older place, but they keep us informed. The food is great, and my loved one enjoys it. They let them eat in their room if they want. They serve three meals a day with choices. I wish they played more bingo. They have parties, religious services, and bingo, among other activities.

"Mixed Feelings About Maristone Assisted Living"
Maristone was the priciest among the places we visited. The rooms felt too cramped, but the overall tour was decent. We were hoping for a single-level option.

"Mixed Feelings: Understaffed Facility with Inconsistent Care and Service"
They didn't have enough workers, like most places now. I didn't see them doing many activities. They mostly sat my family member in front of the TV. If he tried to do something else, they made him go back to the TV, which made him upset. I think it's because they didn't have enough staff. The food wasn't very good. Every time I visited, they served a plain hamburger and a few fries or chips. When I asked about it, they said they'd give toppings if he asked, but I don't think it's fair to expect someone with dementia to ask. I was disappointed with how they handled things when he died. None of the staff contacted me or reached out. I have mixed feelings about them. Some nurses were nice, but the overall friendliness changed when he became aggressive. Their handling of his passing was especially disappointing.

"Friendly Community with Responsive Staff"
The people living here are super nice and feel like family. Our go-to person at the place is always on top of things and gets stuff done fast. Some nurses are really busy, so they can’t always give a lot of care, especially if your family member needs extra time to get around. The shared spaces are usually cleaner than our family member’s own room, but the whole place is pretty clean. Plus, he says the meals taste great!

"Major Concerns About Maristone's Memory Care Detailed Six Feet of Soil"
We had a horrendous ordeal with Maristone's memory care. We were kept in the dark about a fall, then shockingly found out about a massive 20-pound weight loss. Our family member was given too many medications just to keep her "under control", which ended up making her stop eating or even moving around. The director claimed he didn't know what was happening… which makes me question, “How couldn't he?” When we had to remove furniture from her room, we were hit with a horrible smell — her room hadn't been cleaned in a fortnight. The facility seriously lacks enough staff and effective management...

"Grandma Thrives in Assisted Living"
My grandma lives here, and she absolutely loves it. The paperwork and assessment process were smooth and reasonable. She adores her caregivers, affectionately calling them ‘my girls.’ The staff is super friendly, always accommodating our special requests. Her room is fantastic—more like an apartment than a hospital room. She can’t stop raving about the food and the new chef. Plus, she enjoys the daily activities and the weekly communion and monthly mass. There are a few minor issues, like the nursing staff not always signing off on medications and communication gaps. Overall, I’d recommend this community.

"Terrible care, Unprofessional management in Assisted Living Home"
My mom was in this assisted living unit for two months. One particular morning, they ran out of food during breakfast. They gave one guy a simple biscuit and told him he'd have to wait until lunch for more food. I had to insist repeatedly, 5 times, to get her emergency fall switch fixed. She was in a memory care unit with the door constantly left open. Men and women were in the same unit, which didn't seem safe. The woman in the room beside her kept wandering into my mom's room and staring at her, which worried me. I felt their evaluation of my mom was simply to squeeze more money out of us. The exercise program was laughable. I was supposed to meet with the administrator on a Monday, he knew about it but didn't show up. The receptionist told me he was out of town without any concern for my schedule. I got the sense money was their main focus. That's the reason why she's not there anymore.

"A homely assisted living community."
This small community is bustling with active residents. Instead of a traditional activity room, they have a pub, which adds a unique touch. The rooms are spacious, and the welcoming committee of residents is heartwarming. The memory care provided comfort during a surprise visit, assuring the reviewer that their mom will be well cared for. The fact that a geriatric physician makes house calls once a week is reassuring. The reviewer is eagerly waiting to hear about pricing, hoping it's competitive.

"A warm, welcoming place with attentive care and activities"
I highly recommend Maristone. It’s a cozy, small place that feels more like home than a big facility. The staff is friendly, supportive, and attentive. My mom receives great care and lots of warmth. I enjoy visiting her and catching up with everyone there. The activities director is wonderful and genuinely cares about the residents. She’s even working on adding more activities, which is exciting. I suggested more music and singing, and she’s now planning to start a choir! It’s truly a great place.

"Assisted Living Facility Goes Downhill After Becoming a Chain"
This assisted living facility was once the best in Middle Tennessee according to a 2013 poll with over 17,600 voters. It held this status from 2010 until the spring of 2014. After that, it changed from a locally owned and operated senior living community to part of a chain. Now, it feels like you're getting a poor return for your hard-earned money. The local dog shelter provides better care for its inhabitants compared to the facility now.
