"Horrifying Two-Week Experience in Assisted Living Facility"
My mom stayed at this assisted living facility for two weeks due to a fractured hip and developed bed sores. I have no idea exactly what transpired during her stay and I am upset that these things happened, forcing me to remove her from the place. I'm aware that falling incidents are bound to happen, but for her to have bed sores after just a fortnight? It brought me to tears for days. My mom is 76 years old and suffers from dementia - she is my world, but this place wasn't suitable for her. The only recommendation I can give is to pay a visit every day to ensure our loved ones are okay. If I'd left her there, I shudder to think what might've happened. What I saw during those 14 days was disturbing. Thankfully, my mom is now safe with me at home. I urge you to follow your instincts. The staff seemed nice, but I can't shake off the feeling that they were just pretending in front of us. I find it hard to believe they treated my mom like that.

"Changes in Management Concern, Affordable with Convenient Location"
We chose this place because it's affordable and close by. However, there have been a lot of changes in who's in charge here over the past year, which worries me. It seems like they keep switching managers, and that's not good. But my mom is happy and doing well, so that's a relief.

"Activities Varied; Lacking for Memory Care Residents"
Activities are really enjoyable for residents who live in the Assisted Living area. However, there aren't any activities offered for residents who live in the Memory Care unit.

"Disappointing Experience at Kirby Point Assisted Living Facility"
My dad kept falling, hurting himself badly. Food was awful. Staff acted unprofessionally, refused his return after rehab. Had to rush to find him a new place, got no refund. Sadly, he passed away. Kirby Point isn't good for dementia.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Business Side"
My dad was taken care of okay. His room was clean, and they handled his health issues well. But the people handling the money side were awful. They tried to charge me way more than they should have and didn't keep their promises. They treated me badly while taking care of my dad well. Overall, not a good experience.

"Food Quality Needs Improvement"
It's a pretty nice place overall. They really take good care of my loved one. But the food hasn't been great. They promised home-cooked meals, but everything seems to be deep-fried, and they serve lunch leftovers for dinner. Plus, they think cabbage and potatoes make a complete meal. Considering what we're paying, they should definitely have better food.

"Satisfactory Assisted Living Facility Review"
Overall, we're really happy with this place. The staff is awesome and super helpful. The place is always clean, and they keep us informed really well. They clean the rooms a lot and do a really good job. They also do our laundry for us and that's done well too. They have a lot of activities for people in the Assisted Living area, but not as many for Memory Care. The only thing we're not happy about is that our loved one has fallen a few times here. We're trying to figure out how to stop that from happening again. But other than that, everything's been really good. I've recommended this place to my family and friends, and I'll keep doing that.

"Assisted Living Facility Turns Away Loved One with Medical Needs"
We visited The Pointe at Kirby Gate. Sadly, they couldn't accept my family member because she has a colostomy bag, which they said they couldn't manage.

"Mixed feelings but hopeful for improvement with new director."
My family member wasn't happy initially, feeling staff treated residents like children. However, lately, she hasn't complained as much, so maybe that's getting better. Many staff members have left recently - the director, maintenance person, head nurse, and admissions staff. I'm optimistic about improvements with the new director. The food has been a problem - too tough to chew and sometimes unidentifiable. But the new director is friendly and willing to talk to me. So, we're looking forward to things improving with them. However, the nursing care for my loved one has been consistently good.

"Great facility but location near not-so-great area was drawback."
I visited this community and I thought it was really nice. I liked it a lot. It's really pretty, the people who work there are friendly, and the apartments are really nice. The only thing I didn't like was the location. I felt like it was too close to a not-so-good part of town. If it was in a different place, it would have been our favorite choice.

"Mixed Feelings on Memory Care Facility"
We really hoped our family member wouldn’t need the locked memory care area, but after she wandered off on her first day, there wasn’t another option. She talks just fine and her memory loss is only recent stuff, so she’s a bit different from the others there. I wish they’d let her hang out in the brighter assisted living part sometimes. I’d like her to have more activities in memory care, and for it not to be so gloomy. They’re making the place nicer, though. Just the other day, they laid down new carpets in the hallways. I believe she’s in a safe place and nothing bad will happen to her. I do hope they can convince her to take showers and do other personal care stuff more often, even though we had trouble with that too. She’s getting used to the place over time. There are some awesome new workers. And there’s this one boss who’s super kind. She always checks on my dad when he visits my mom, and he’s thankful for that.

"Great care and happy with the facility despite memory issues"
My experience has been good. The director is really helpful and knows a lot. She’s been great, especially since I live far away. My mom seems to be happy and doing well there. She likes the food. Although her memory issues can make things change from day to day, overall she seems happy.

"Cozy Community with Great Staff and Flexible Dining Options"
I suggest you visit this place to see if it fits what you’re looking for. The people running it do a pretty good job. It’s not a huge place, so it feels more homey than some of the larger places might. The workers here are really good at talking with everyone who lives here. You can get all your meals in the eating area, but if you want, you can eat in your own room or have the food brought to you. They serve three meals every day.
