"Like living on a cruise ship"

It doesn't matter how many retirement villages you check out, Adante has the upper hand over them for two reasons. The wonderful location and the energy. You can feel it when you walk in. There's always an activity going on, and it's not limited to Bingo like other homes. Some of these activities are passive, and others are more hands-on--some presented by staff, some by residents. It is a diverse population that gets along politically, religiously, racially, dog owner/cat owner. If you live at Adante, you are family.

"From the viewpoint of a resident"

For six years I have resided in the Independent Living at Adante. Throughout all of this time,I have been able to experience Adante's welcoming spirit, and the friendliness and caring--by both the staff and fellow residents. I have heard many comments from fellow residents who previously lived at other Senior communities and the unanimous opinion is that Adante is the best. The activities are numerous and diverse--and there is still privacy to enjoy when that is what you need. For those that don't live here, I would see it as an opportunity to visit, simply walking in will show you what I mean.

"Steer Clear of Andante: Poor Care, Poor Value"

If you're looking for help for your mom or dad, steer clear of Andante. We had my dad staying there and we constantly had to keep an eye on the things happening. His room always had a faint smell of urine because his clothes would pile up in the laundry basket. They could've at least have the decency to ask us if we want his clothes cleaned twice a week instead of just once. His room always stank. They would inform us last-minute that his medicine is almost gone, usually when there were just a couple of pills left. He would run out of toilet paper without them providing him any, making us have to drop it off. We can go on and on about the issues. It's so disappointing to see how Andante is just using our money without providing the services. Save yourself the trouble!

"Review of Woodland Assisted Living - Calabanga, Bicol"

We checked out different senior living places throughout the year, and this one stood out as the best! It's set on beautiful, wooded land, serves really good food, offers lots of activities, and has friendly residents and staff. Plus, it's exceptionally well maintained.

"Parents Find Resolution with Adante's Swift Action on Cottage Issues"

Hi there, My parents, both in their 80s, recently moved into an Adante cottage. They had been on a waiting list since fall of last year. The first opportunity to move came in spring, but at that time, my dad was in the hospital, so it was too much for them to handle. To give you a little background, my parents were leaving the house they had lived in for the past 45 years. This is the same house in which me and my two siblings were raised. Our own hands built this house, the joint efforts of our grandfather, my brother, me, and various contractors for jobs like electric work, dry wall, and laying a foundation. My folks wanted a cottage, and one was made available in June. During their first meeting with the staff, my parents were given a price for the cottage. But when they went to sign the lease, the price suddenly went up by a lot. They even tried to add extra fees for a second person, which they usually don’t apply to the cottages. My dad fought against those extra charges and they were removed. But Adante would not lower the price back to the original amount. At this point, it was too late for my folks to start looking for a new place. It felt like Adante was just taking advantage of a vulnerable situation. Fast forward to when they moved in... my mom’s list of issues about the place has only gotten longer. From problems with the staff to issues with the cottage itself, it's been terrible. They didn’t have hot water for two days because of a broken water heater. As I’m writing this, things are still going wrong left and right. And to top it all off, last week my mom was left to clean up after the plumber. She had to mop up water that was left on the floor. And all this for a $4600 a month rent?! Management had a whole month to prepare for new tenants. I hope that any prospective residents see this review before making a decision. As for us, we’re exploring different options about how to handle this situation. These options may involve reaching out to the American Senior Housing Association, BBB, ALFA, A Place For Mom, or the Senior Advisor. Updated review: Three to four weeks after my initial post, the executive director finally reached out to my parents about their concerns. Since making first contact, he’s been quick to fix their complaints, even going as far as making changes to the organization to prevent these issues from happening again. The director has been very friendly and apologetic. He explained that these problems were unforeseen results of what is being called the "perfect storm". We feel better about everything, as he's delivered on promises he made during this period. My parents are now beginning to feel comfortable in their new home.

"New Management, Same Heart!"

Things have changed a lot in our community. The boss left, and after the hailstorm, they took forever to fix things. Sometimes they don't have enough staff, which means my loved one's room doesn't get proper care. And they often run out of different foods, so my loved one can't always eat what they order. But I do appreciate the friendly and attentive staff when it comes to our loved ones' needs.

"Loving Life at This Assisted Living Facility"

They really enjoy living here. The food and community are great. The cost is similar to our other favorite, maybe a bit less. We like the layout—it's a smaller community.

This place was amazing. It looked really nice. We met with Donny Veal because Dawn was busy. He showed us around, and it was great. I think others should check it out too. But, it's too expensive for us.

"Adante Senior Living Review: Great Care with Room for Improvement"

The care at Adante's MC unit is awesome. Sometimes, they could use an extra staff member, especially during meals. Some residents need more help with eating, which can lead to falls. The staff is always kind and caring, which means a lot to us. We're thankful for Adante's care.

" "Adante, San Antonio - Needs Improvements & Better Staffing""

This place doesn't have enough staff and they take too long to respond to emergency calls. There's no trained nurse on the job, just an activity director without the right qualifications. There's a few people here who really care, but I'm worried about safety. The food is okay, nothing special. They also don't pay attention to special dietary needs.

"Nice place, overall"

We've mostly liked the service at Adante San Antonio. The building is clean and nice, and the resident accommodations are pleasant. The food is good too.

"Staff are overwhelmed, but facility is clean with good food."

This place had stuff to do, but my family member didn't want to join in. It looked really new and cool. Most of the workers were nice, but I think they had too much to do. When we first arrived, the person at the front desk would say hi, but then they got too busy to even look up. I wish they paid more attention to families like us. The food was tasty, and everything was clean. But there were a lot of different bosses in just two years, and I heard some gossip while I was there.

"Happy New Home: Welcoming Atmosphere, Spacious Cottages"

My wife and I just moved in about a month ago. We're quite pleased with this place. They offer cottages and apartments, and the cottages are bigger. The grounds and building are really well taken care of, and the staff is super friendly. They definitely deserve a 5 out of 5. We feel like we're getting good value for our money. The activities calendar seems pretty packed. We haven't been here long, but so far, so good.

"Very nice facility, high staff to pt ratio, but extra charges for incontinence"

This place is really nice. They have a lot of staff for the patients. But they charge extra for incontinence. Also, the information package says that patients might be asked to leave if they're verbally or physically abusive.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Short Respite Stay, Lovely Room"

This place only allows 30-day stays for temporary care. I thought the room was nice, but the bathroom felt quite far from the bed. The room itself was lovely. However, my tour guide was very late in meeting me, and the dining room seemed quite far from the rooms.

"An unsatisfactory and mismanaged facility; neglectful and opportunistic."

Should your folks need any help, I advise steering clear of Andante. We settled my Dad there and were constantly chasing the staff. His room smelled like pee because his laundry piled up. why didn't they ask us if we'd like them washed twice a week instead of once? Instead, they let the room stink. We received almost no warning that his prescription was about to run out, with only two pills left! He ran out of toilet paper and they wouldn't provide him more until we delivered it ourselves. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm truly appalled by how this place operates just to cash in. Don't even consider it!
