"Issues with housekeeping and food, but overall good experience"
When it comes to the quality of care, the housekeeping staff doesn't speak English and doesn't clean the apartment well. The meals and dining service used to be a 4, but now it's a 2 because the new cook's food is terrible. It's a bit pricey for the size of the apartment. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short of Expectations"
The people there didn't tell us the truth about the room size our family member was supposed to get, and they wouldn't call us back. When we showed up for the move-in, the room wasn't even cleaned. The workers weren't nice to us at all. Our family member didn't even have a chance to eat there because they passed away before moving in. They charged our family member for things they didn't do for them. Plus, they make you sign a contract for a whole year, which doesn't make sense for old people. I wish I hadn't signed it.

"Well-Staffed and Friendly Assisted Living with Good Value"
The assisted living place is sometimes short on staff, but they're trying their hardest with what they have. The staff is super nice and pays attention to everyone. The person in charge of care talks well with everyone, and I'm really happy about that. It's a good deal for the money. I think other families should check it out.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
The staff is awesome, the place is tidy, and they let you pick your dinner. But they should check on residents more often, especially if someone misses a meal. My dad loved the food, and I'd recommend it to friends. They should also encourage residents to join activities.

"Unhappy with Second Floor Placement and Extra Charges"
I like this place, but my mom's apartment is on the second floor and far down the hall. She's scared of getting lost, so she won't leave her apartment. I have to get her meals delivered, and I'm not happy about it. They started charging for this service, and even offered to move her to the first floor, but they wanted to charge more for that too. She can't afford the move. If my mother wasn't charged for this service, I would have rated higher.

"Assisted Living Review: Pleasant Atmosphere, Food Quality Needs Improvement"
We like how big the apartments are and how they have nice windows that let in lots of natural light. The rooms are nice, and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. Our main issue is with the food—they don’t give us much meat, and we wish it tasted better. We hope they start making it better soon. But the cost is fair for what you get.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Cozy Apartments and Expert Staff"

"Perfect Care and Support for Our Loved Ones"
My in-laws lived here for a few years before they passed away. This place was excellent for them, and we were very pleased. The staff was always quick to respond and took good care of them, which made us feel reassured. My father-in-law received physical therapy and participated in exercise classes. We also had home health services visit them. The food was good, and I would definitely recommend this community. In fact, we already have recommended it, and others are living there now.

"Thorough Facility Tour, High Costs, Some Maintenance Issues"
The marketing director at this assisted living facility impressed me by taking the time to discuss and answer my queries ahead of our tour. However, the place is pretty pricey and the costs only rise further, so be prepared. Also, if you decide to move out, you're required to give them a two-month notice. The price mentioned on their website is far lower than the actual cost. Plus, they charge an unusually high "community fee" of $2,500. If you exhaust your savings here, you'll be evicted because they don't accept Medicaid. The carpets could have been cleaner and there was a somewhat unpleasant smell in the hallways. Despite these drawbacks, was exceptionally helpful and polite!

"Disappointment Over Subpar Service and Safety Concerns"
I was not impressed at all with this place. It wasn't as tidy as I'd have liked. The bathroom, particularly, showed signs of mold growing around the shower, which is a big no-no. The services offered were nowhere near what I thought they would be considering the price tag. The staff were not engaging the residents as much as they should have been. They showed me a room with a dorm-sized fridge set to be installed. My mom, who uses a walker, would be at a greater risk of falling with that in place. Simply put, it failed to meet the standards I anticipated.

"Beware: Hidden Fees and Contract Complications!"
They told me one rate for the apartment, then threw in an extra $250 on the contract. They insisted I misunderstood them. I had all of mom's stuff loaded on a UHaul, and suddenly found myself scrambling to find a new home for her. Eventually, we ended up at Arlington Plaza. They've handled all our demands and more. The only hang-up was they messed up mom's name after A Place for Mom referred her. They had a hard time fixing it on the contract.

"Better Than We Ever Expected"
We couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the start, during our search, to now that Mom and Dad have been living here for a month and a half, everything has been great. Our sales representative, Kendra, was amazing. She helped us every step of the way. All the residents seem really happy, and the staff works hard to plan activities. Even though Mom and Dad are still getting used to things after six weeks, we feel very lucky to have found Horizon Bay.

"Unpleasant Experience at Horizon Bay; Poor Customer Service"
Our time at Horizon Bay was truly disappointing. We brought her in just before a holiday weekend, but when we went to see her during those days, we couldn't locate a single staff member after wandering around aimlessly for a while. Added to that, they didn't treat my loved one with the due respect; it felt cold and impersonal. Even though she was quite mentally alert, the caregivers would often discuss her as if she was absent. Even after moving out, we experienced issues. We never received our final bill, causing me to have to contact them to figure out why it was missing so that I could pay it. Throughout these struggling times, their customer service really let us down. In my opinion, they didn't accept any blame for our difficulties or make any real effort to fix them.

"Inconsistency in Staff Quality Mars otherwise Decent Facility"
We're halfway about recommending this place, since it isn't bad. The place is neat, meals are okay, and the daytime staff is amazing. However, the night and weekend staff aren't that great; they're supposed to assist with living, yet we pay extra for things like bathing. These costs come after room charges, which we're fine with, if only they'd actually do what they're expected to. We often need to remind them to bathe my dad. He has a call button but they take forever, sometimes 30 minutes, to get to him. Dad is a bit forgetful so he might press the button a lot, but that doesn't matter. There was a time he fell and they didn't react; my sister found him. The folks here are friendly and they do well with maintaining cleanliness and serving food. But, the support staff’s not up to the mark. So if you can manage on your own, it's a good place, otherwise, you may not get the help you expect.

"Very Homey"
We picked Horizon Bay for our loved ones because the community is a good size, making it easier for them to get around. It felt like our loved ones had more in common with the residents here compared to other places. Horizon Bay truly gives a homey feeling, so our loved ones settled in right away. However, there's been a change in the dining staff, which has upset some residents. The new menu has unfamiliar items and doesn't taste great. Despite that, we're quite happy with this community, especially since it's close to home. We'd recommend Horizon Bay to anyone.

"Middle-of-the-Road Assisted Living Facility, Has Room for Improvement"
This assisted living facility is just okay. It has some good features but also areas that need improvement. The staff can be helpful and friendly, but sometimes, it seems they are understaffed and can't offer the attention every resident requires. The facility itself looks nice, but the rooms appear a little small for comfort. The food, while served with a smile, is average and could surely taste better. Overall, they try their best but they certainly have room to grow and improve.
