Atria Sugar Land

"Great place, smaller facility, some food issues noted"
We chose Atria Sugar Land because it looked the best and was closest to home. They came to evaluate my loved one, then picked us up for a tour. My mom loved it and wanted to move in right away. It's a smaller place with about 64 rooms. Recently, she mentioned some issues with the food; sometimes, they don’t have what’s on the menu, but she can be picky. I would recommend it to others.

"Enhanced Senior Living Experience Needed"
My mom has been at Atria for almost 4 years. I visit her in Texas about 4 times a year. The place is really clean and offers a lot for the people living there. My mom is 88. I talk to her several times a week, and even though she has a bit of memory trouble, I understand some of her worries. Based on our talks, here are some ideas Have a movie night every week, but show newer movies. Start taking them out on trips every week. Go shopping with them once a week. Have happy hour events on Friday nights. Make a bar and let them feel like they're out somewhere, maybe on the patio, and bring in entertainment. I think more people should come to these. Overall, I think Atria is a good safe place for my mom. She just needs a lot of time with other people. Also, I think it would be good to have better help from case managers when it's time to move on and maybe have a nurse working on weekends.

"Friendly community with good value, but food needs improvement"
The community is friendly and a good value for the money. My loved one enjoys living here. However, the food isn't always the softest, which can make eating difficult for my loved one.

"Greatwood Assisted Living: Excellent Service, Convenient Location"
Greatwood Assisted Living is fantastic! The lady who guided us, [Name removed], was amazing. She didn't just show us around, but also informed us about veteran benefits. She quickly grasped my dad's situation and communicated it effectively. She's a pro and knows the place inside out, which I really liked. I also liked the offer for my dad to stay over. The facility itself is well-kept, peaceful, and looks nice. It offers everything my dad needs for his independent lifestyle. Plus, it's conveniently located near shopping and health services. My only concerns are the distance and traffic from my house, but I'll discuss it with dad.

"Very nice community, but kind of pricey"
I visited this community and liked it, but it's a bit pricey. The facility was clean, with lots of fun activities. The staff was friendly, and residents seemed happy. However, it didn't meet our needs this time around.

"Nursing Staff Falls Short in Elderly Care Center"
This place is older and smaller than other places I've seen. It looks nice and has great managers. But I noticed a problem with the nursing staff they have. They can't provide the type of care my folks need. There's no nurse after 7 p.m., and the person who's supposed to give out medicine doesn't do it. It seems like there's just not enough workers and supplies. This place isn't really set up for someone who needs a lot of care like my parents. But if your loved one doesn't need that much care, I'd say this place is good.

"Expensive, prices increase often, but nice place with good care."
This facility is pretty expensive and they keep jacking up the cost, but it's nice and most people who live here like it. Most caregivers are pretty solid. A lot change jobs here every month, some good, some not so good. About half have been around for a long time, though, and they're awesome. The people here are great and there's always fun stuff to do. Families aren't always told if someone gets sick or hurt. They expect the person to tell their family. Atria is expensive and they hike up the cost. Sometimes, you might need to pay for stuff in the room that wasn't fixed before you moved in. The big bosses at Atria just care about making money, not about letting people age where they are. The local staff don't have much of a say. Something big changed in November 2016 and we've seen people who've lived here a long time leave. The cost of living here and the cost of care seem to be based on how long you've been here or what they think you can cough up. Our cost for care more than doubled just in the few months we've been here. We found out others who moved in just a few months before us are paying 10% less. They tried to raise our rent by 10% after a few months, but we said no way. Someone new just moved out.

"Mom and Dad's Great Care"
I really appreciate the care my parents are getting here from this friendly and caring community. We regularly talk to the staff to keep communication open on a few things. We like the menu my parents receive. The activities are great, and when they want to go out on the shuttle, it's always available. They're happy with the environment and their room. The staff does some personal care tasks for my parents. I would recommend this community for other families, especially for the good care and communication they provide.

"We're Grateful for Our Community"
Things are going great for my mother-in-law. We're super happy and amazed by her progress. Every day, we're grateful she's here. She loves the meals and socializing. She plays bingo, walks, and exercises twice a day. We never expected such improvement—they've exceeded our hopes.

""Pleasant Staff, But Not The Right Fit For Us""
This place is pretty old and the room we checked out was pretty tiny. It had its own kitchen with a fancy stone countertop to eat at. There was an air conditioner stuck right in the wall. The cost was about the same as other places. The dining area wasn't that great, kinda felt like it was in the entrance hall. Still, the people working there were really nice and smart. Just didn't really work out for us.

"Cozy and caring community, perfect for transitioning loved ones."
This place is small, but that's what we liked about it. They make sure to get to know everyone who lives there. The activities they offer are just right for the people who live there. So far, we're happy with how they're taking care of our mom. She's adjusting well to living there instead of at home.

"10 Stars for Atria"
Wow! This place is amazing. The grounds, staff, and everything else are top-notch. It feels more like a resort than a senior living facility. I'd give it ten stars!

"Not Quite Our Top Choice"
I toured this community and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The chef used to be a pro cook! Unfortunately, they couldn't meet our care needs, so they weren't the right fit for my parents.

"I Wasn't Involved Much"
I think they made some changes to the place, but it was mostly for seniors. I was there because I had a transplant, so I didn't really have much to do with it.

"Caring, Clean, and Excellent Value!"
They helped us a lot. It was easy to get my parents settled there. I only met a few caregivers, but they were really kind and caring. The whole experience was great. The place was clean and nice, and everyone was friendly. The value was excellent, but I can't rate the activities.

"Inattentive Staff and Average Meals at This Atria"
For the last year, my mom's been living in this care facility. Too many times, they've neglected to give her the medication that her doctors ordered. Every time it happens, my mom ends up calling me, upset. When I communicate with the staff about these oversights, instead of being apologetic, they're dismissive, brushing off their oversight with excuses, saying they "got busy" or just "forgot." The food they serve is of middling quality. This truly let me down, as the Atria where I'm from served outstanding food. If the decision was solely mine, I'd swiftly relocate her to a facility that provides better care and healthier meals.

"Great place, but multiple floors may be challenging for seniors"
We visited this place while searching for care for a family member. I liked it here, seemed nice overall. The staff were super friendly, and the building was clean and tidy. But, it's several floors, which might be tough for my loved one.

When we visited this community, it felt just right for our situation. Our loved one enjoys it here. The food is good—maybe not like home-cooked meals, but still good. The landscaping is beautiful and well-kept.

"Great first impression with caring staff and close location."
I think my first impression didn’t save. This place is great! I’d love for my mom and dad to be nearby, and this place is one of the closest options. Davita is also just around the corner. It seems a bit pricey, but this was the first place I visited. They were incredibly nice and even gave me a pie to take to my mom and dad. It was a fantastic first impression!
