"Happy Mom in Clean, Kind Assisted Living Community"
My mom really likes it here. The people who work here are nice and always pay attention to her needs. They treat the people who live here with respect. There are things to do, but my mom doesn't join in. She enjoys the food a lot. The place is always clean and looks nice.

"Tour to Evaluate Care for Mom"
My brother toured this place and wasn't happy because of the smell. He noticed that the other residents weren't active and didn't have much to do, which is important for our mom to stay alert and engaged. The food looked good, but overall, this community wasn't the right fit for us. Families should visit and see the care for themselves.

"Excellent Care for a Challenging Resident"
I placed my 86-year-old stepfather, who is legally blind and nearly deaf, in this home based on a hospital social worker's recommendation. We had just experienced terrible treatment at a well-known memory care facility in Mesquite. Despite his severe dementia with psychosis and paranoia, he thrived at Avalon. He started eating, gaining weight, and became fond of many staff members. Even though he had verbal and physical outbursts at times, the staff handled them with kindness, professionalism, and understanding. They accepted that this is part of the disease for some residents. We received every service we needed, including a mobile dentist for new dentures and custom-fitted shoes. The staff spent one-on-one time with him due to his vision and hearing loss. He lived there for over 18 months until he passed away on Hospice. During that time, we experienced excellent communication and care from the staff, led by a strong and capable manager. My only suggestion is to reduce the amount of oversized furniture in the living area. There seems to be a lot of unused seating, and it would be easier for the staff to navigate wheelchairs and walkers. Thanks for the opportunity to provide this review.

"Very happy with care, but furniture and privacy concerns"
I've been really happy with the place so far. My only worry is that the furniture is a bit old and worn. However, I feel great about the care she’s getting. Everyone is very friendly, and the food is pretty good she's eating well. They can keep taking care of her even if she runs out of money. One thing to note is that a man helps bathe the residents, which might be uncomfortable for some of the female residents.

"Avalon Homes: Warm, Caring Environment Recommended by Friends"
I visited this home and two other Avalon Homes nearby. My wife and I were told about Avalon by a couple from our Sunday School class. Their mother has been living at Avalon for over 3 years, and they only had good things to say. We knew we would eventually need to find a place for my mom. Before we toured, The staff from Avalon talked to me for a long time. He really understood where my mom was in her illness and showed us the three best homes for her. Everywhere we went, we were greeted with smiles and it felt like home. What impressed us the most was seeing how the staff interacted with the residents. There were no desks separating them; the staff were very engaged. It was also interesting to see that many of the staff had worked there for a long time. That made a big impression on us. The staff clearly cared a lot about the residents. The rooms were personalized with the residents’ own things. At all three homes, I spoke with other families who were very positive and helpful. He made this tough decision a bit easier for us.
