Belmont Village West Lake Hills

"Nice place, good care, needs better communication."
Belmont Village is very nice, and we're happy we chose it. When my loved one first got there, she needed special care for some health issues, which they said they could provide. But we had to stay on top of it to make sure things like care, laundry, and trash were done. Their nursing care is good, but they don't communicate well. I still have to call a lot and ask several times to get things done. I know no place is perfect. Her health is much better than when she was living at home. The facility is very clean. I eat there with her often, and the food is good. The staff is friendly and wonderful. It's a nice place overall.

"Knowledgeable guide, but residents seemed isolated—might not be ideal"
Our family went for a tour, and it was good. The guide who showed us around was really smart and did a great job. She talked very positively about all the amenities. But, we noticed that residents were just sitting around and not talking to each other. It didn’t seem like the best place for our loved one.

"Belmont Village Assisted Living Review"
The areas at Belmont Village are generally clean, though housekeeping could be better, especially in bathrooms. Care services have been inconsistent, and communication could improve with clearer guidance. Despite these challenges during the pandemic, the staff are exceptional professional, kind, caring, and helpful. The activities director, [name removed], is outstanding, always introducing creative new activities. Overall, our loved one enjoys the food immensely.

"Assisted Living Delivers Good Food and Care, Price Reflects Quality"
I've had a positive experience here. The food is tasty. I appreciate having assisted living options instead of just independent living. Assisted living has suited my loved ones better. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for.

"Good Care with Room for Improvement"
The staff is great! They are making changes for the better, and there is a nurse on staff during the week. They really care about the residents. The housekeeping is okay; they are working on getting better. The meals are good. Moving in was amazing! The staff was so helpful. I would recommend Mustang Creek.

"I enjoyed my stay here"
I stayed here for 14 days for respite care, and it was really good. The food was delicious, and they served it three times a day. They encouraged me to join in on daily activities, and the caregivers were friendly. I especially liked the physical therapy sessions, which I attended twice a day. The housekeeping team did a great job of keeping everything clean. The only thing I'd suggest changing is their towel policy – they expect you to reuse them before getting fresh ones. It would be better if they informed people about this in advance. Overall, I recommend this community.

"Costly but nice: Belmont Village West Lake Hills review"
Belmont Village West Lake Hills is a huge and cool place. It seemed like they had tons of fun things to do. The folks there were super friendly and kind. It was just really, really pricey.

"Nice but Overpriced and Unclear on Costs"
The facilities are very nice, but they feel a bit too fancy. It's about 50% more expensive than other similar places. Also, they didn't give us a clear picture of all the costs while we were there

"Very Nice Facility"
This community is really nice, but their prices were too high for what we could afford. It felt a bit excessive for our liking overall. Everything looked clean and organized. The staff was friendly to my family and me. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but we found another community that suited us better.

"Great visit to assisted living facility near family!"

"Belmont Village Stands Out Among Assisted Living Facilities"
Belmont Village is a lovely, well-kept place. They offer more exciting activities than just Bingo and Walmart trips. For instance, they have group crossword puzzles and even a rabbi who lectures about the Psalms. The staff is always friendly, responsive, and eager to find solutions. The meals are like dining at a restaurant. Most importantly, they genuinely care about Mom’s happiness and comfort, and it’s clear they want me to be happy too.

"Happy transition to Belmont Village"
We are so grateful to have our mom at Belmont Village. She was at another memory care center for about 4 days and was miserable, crying, angry, and very unhappy. It was clear it wasn't just a transition period but not a good fit for our mom who has dementia but is still very physically active. When we met Zack at Belmont Village, he showed us around, and we noticed everyone was smiling and happy—the staff, the residents, the support care. It was a totally different atmosphere from where my mom had been. We brought her to Belmont Village, she agreed it was a much better fit, and we moved her within 48 hours. The staff worked hard to make this happen, and we are so grateful—my mom is so much happier at Belmont! She has activities and is settling in well. It's a huge relief for my sister and me to know she's getting great physical and emotional care, a great environment, and new friends. Thank you to everyone at Belmont Village! We finally feel at peace with where she is living!

"Top Assisted Living in Austin for Dementia Care and Support"
Belmont Village Circle of Friends has the best dementia program in Austin. I know this from having searched for dementia care for both my parents over the last 12 years at 7 different assisted living centers. Belmont Village stands out above the rest in every way facilities, care, food, and parking. It has been a real blessing for our family. My mother has been there for a year, and she's actually improved both mentally and physically, which we were told wasn’t possible. She’s now able to start conversations and sign her name again after losing these abilities. Unlike other places where caregivers are often distracted by their phones, Belmont's staff is dedicated and focused. Their programs are fantastic. If an activity is on the schedule, you can trust the staff will carry it out with care and enthusiasm. They offer daily exercise with a personal trainer, water aerobics, and fun crafting projects. Most importantly, they have engaging mental exercises that are enjoyable for everyone, including visiting family members. These activities are never childish or fake, unlike at Mom's previous places. Belmont Village has helped us honor and care for my mother as she deserves. They have many family events and consistently great food that would be top-notch even in a restaurant. They’ve removed unhealthy drinks and snacks that you find in most assisted living places. Their costs are similar to other facilities, but you get much more value here. Double rooms with roommates can save money, and their intake staff sticks to their promises about pricing. If they say there won’t be a price increase for a year, they mean it. They also have a hospitalist doctor from a nearby hospital, who is now Mom’s primary care physician, making transitions from hospital to Belmont smooth. As a frequent visitor, I’ve also made friends with many independent living residents who are happy with the facility, grounds, food, and activities. I would recommend moving your parents here from any other facility without hesitation. The only downside is they don’t offer skilled nursing, but they do work with other facilities if needed.

A Mother's Son
"West Lake Hills has a strong sense of community."
I was surprised to see negative reviews about West Lake Hills' administration. Our experience has been the opposite. We moved our mom there last December after researching other places in Austin and Houston. The staff at West Lake Hills has been warm and professional. They're working on improvements like paperless communication and better medication management. But what impresses me most is the sense of community and care they foster. Our mom has regained vitality, and we're amazed. No paperless system can replace that.

"Lacking Compassion and Poor Medication Management"
We spelled out my mom's care needs clearly - she's wheelchair-bound and needs lots of help with day-to-day tasks. We were told that she could live here indefinitely unless she became bedridden. That clearly wasn't the case. After just eight months, my mom started having some trouble, and they kicked her out. By that, I mean they wouldn't let her come back from a hospital visit for something relatively trivial, like dehydration. They didn't give us any warning or even time to move her out. We were in a panic trying to sort out rehab care for her, all the while looking for another place for her to live. What's really awful is that they didn't show a single bit of empathy for my mom - it's cruel to boot someone from their home like that. I'm especially upset because my mom seemed to like it there. The Circle of Friends was a really neat program. However, their system for managing medications is a mess. On one occasion, they left my mom high and dry for 4 days because of a mix-up with the drugstore. Another time, I found medicines meant for someone else in my mom's room. They keep track of prescriptions on paper instead of digitally, even though they said they had electronic records when we were moving my mom in.

"Mixed Review: Great Activity Program but Needs Better Management"
The tough part here is how the management doesn't seem to care and everything feels like it just doesn't work right. Sure, the nurses are awesome but overall, this place has some serious issues. I mean, they're still using paper and the worst part? I've heard about times when people didn't get their medicine right because people aren't communicating. The good news is that most of the other staff really do seem to care and do a good job, but there's a few that don't and it kinda feels like their training isn't up to par. The best thing here has got to be the Circle of Friends. It's this cool program where residents get to do class activities with their buddies every day of the week. A lot of it is brain stuff but they do other things too. The instructor's really great and everyone seems to care a lot.

"Mixed Feelings About Belmont Assisted Living, But Mostly Content"
They have some problems with having enough workers, especially on the Memory floor. This causes some issues with employees not talking to each other. Overall, we're pretty happy with Belmont, up to now. One thing we were told during the tour and when we admitted was that someone could "pass away there" if necessary. But it turns out this only applies if hospice is called in. We found out in a meeting that if "the resident is stuck in bed, they'd need to leave the facility" because there's not enough skilled nursing. Once again, the only exception is if hospice is brought in.

"Nice clean place, communication could be improved."
It's super clean, and the staff is really friendly. The main thing is that there are a few different people to talk to, but sometimes it feels like they don't share information very well. So, getting answers can be a bit tricky. Other than that, everything's pretty good. They have a busy calendar, but I'm not sure how good they are at getting people involved. We picked them because the place is new and spotless.

"Absolutely beautiful facility, although layout is confusing"
I visited Belmont Village before it officially opened, so I can’t say for sure if the residents were happy. But I can tell you that every staff member greeted me with a smile, and they all seemed really committed to making sure residents had a positive experience for their bodies, minds, and souls. Their memory program is outstanding – they have a detailed schedule for every single day of the year, which they call ‘Circle of Friends.’ The activities are designed specifically for those with memory issues. The room layouts were all comfortable, and both the interior and exterior of the building are incredibly beautiful. My only concern was that it was a bit confusing to find my way around.
