"Disappointed with Bethesda Assisted Living's Inconsistent Care and Support"
We left because the staff didn't give medicines on time. This messed up eating schedules. Laundry was done irregularly, if at all. One time, when my mom fell, no one came when she pressed her buzzer. She had to open the door herself to get help. We only chose assisted living because my mom had trouble moving around. She could do many things on her own, but at Bethesda, she lost control, and the staff wasn't reliable. Bethesda was highly recommended, and the tour was good. But the care didn't match what was promised.

"Good care but basic meals and understaffed"
My loved one lives at Bethesda Gardens Arlington. So far, things have been pretty good for her at this place. The staff is really friendly and quick to help, though they seem a bit overworked and there aren’t enough of them. They are also kind and caring, but it would be better if there were more staff. The meals, however, are very basic, not very balanced, and need better nutritional planning. They have way too many carbs and look like old high school cafeteria food from the 1970s.

"Great Staff and Tasty Meals at Bethesda Gardens Arlington"
My loved one lives at Bethesda Gardens Arlington, and it’s been a really good experience. The staff have been there a long time and seem happy with their jobs. They are always nice to my mom. They answer all our questions and calls quickly. We had one bad experience, but it got fixed when we told them. The meals are usually tasty and healthy, but there’s not much choice. I would recommend Bethesda Gardens Arlington to others.

"Friendly staff make transition easier at Bethesda Gardens"
The transition is hard for everyone, both residents and families. But the staff here are really nice. If you find a place with nice staff, you can handle anything else. We all want our parents to be happy, feel special, appreciated, and loved. That’s how it is for my loved one at Bethesda Gardens.

"Short-staffed facility serves cold meals; prices to increase soon"
The facility doesn't have a kitchen manager, so many meals are cold and served on paper plates. The staff is good and does their best, though they are short on help right now. We've asked for more details because prices will go up this month.

The community was pleasant, but it seemed more like a hotel. Unfortunately, it didn't meet my loved one's needs and felt too upscale for us.

"Virtual tour helpful, but not a perfect fit"
We did a virtual tour of Bethesda Gardens and learned a lot. It wasn't the best fit due to my loved one's vision problems, so we chose a different facility.

"Assisted Living Experience: Mixed Bag During COVID"
It was fine until COVID hit. Now, we can't visit. Healthcare needs are a worry. Food's bad. Caregivers are nice though. Chose for size, room, price, location.

"Severe Neglect at Assisted Living; Unfulfilled Promises by Management"
My mom lived at this place. The people running it were terrible: her room got flooded three times and she fell after they changed the location of her bed without letting me know and without considering how she needed her bed to be angled. I went to see her and didn't find anyone at reception and nobody could clearly explain to me about her care plan. I noticed her health went downhill fast after that move and the fall. The staff, who were supposed to be looking after her, kept disappearing to have a smoke. I used her emergency call button and it took them forever, over an hour, to come see her. Also, someone messed up the control plug of her bed: they raised both the head and foot parts and left her that way for an entire week! She was really unhappy. The management told me they would give us a credit but that never happened. I had to move her to [removed] located in North Arlington.

"Poor Management, Care Difficulties at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom stayed at this place between [dates removed]. The folks in charge were just awful. Three times my mom's room was flooded. They messed up by moving her bed around without letting me know, and she fell 'cause it wasn't set up right. Every time I tried to visit, there was no one to talk to at the front desk. It was real hard for me to find out anything about my mom's care. After she fell, my mom wasn't doing well, especially after they moved her. There were a lot of times when the assistants would disappear, usually out back to smoke. One time, I hit the call button for my mom, we had to wait over an hour to get help. Someone even messed up my mom's hospital bed plug. They put the head and foot parts up, then left my mom like that for an entire week! My poor mom was real unhappy. The management said they’d give us some money back, but they never did. Thankfully, I was able to move my mom to The Waterford on Cooper in North Arlington.

"Expensive facility lacks socializing opportunities and feels isolating."
This place costs an arm and a leg. They don't allow us to hang out with our friends, leaving me eating alone at every meal. They keep me cooped up in my room most of the time.

"Expensive loneliness: Worst living experience ever."
This joint costs a fortune. The staff won't let us mingle with friends; I eat alone at every meal. Most of the time, I'm trapped by myself in my room.

"Friendly Staff But Lack Of Amenities Not Suitable For Parents"
The rooms didn't have a space for lounging or a complete kitchen. The folks were friendly, but this place isn't right for my mom and dad. The bathrooms are getting upgraded and they're the nicest ones compared to other places.

"Dad Feels Safe and Happy!"
My dad recently moved into this community, and we're happy with how things are going for him. The staff take good care of his needs, although sometimes they seem short-staffed. The property is always clean and smells fresh. Most importantly, my family and I feel that my dad is safe and comfortable here. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place for their loved one.

"Unwelcoming Staff and Dirty Rooms at Care Facility"
The staff weren't too friendly when we visited and only gave basic information. When we walked into the building, a stale, bad smell filled the air. The rooms they showed us weren't well-kept, the bathrooms especially were dirty. I wouldn't want my mom to live there.

"Highly Recommend Bethesda for Assisted Living Options"
My mother has been doing well since we moved her to Bethesda. She enjoys some of the activities, though she likes to sleep a lot, which can interfere sometimes. The food is good. I would recommend this place to friends and family looking for options.

"Decent Care at Bethesda, But Could Use Some Upgrades"
My grandma has been living at Bethesda for quite a few years. Everyone working there are nice and treat her well. But, what's not so good is that the helpers keep changing. Also, the meals they serve are just okay, especially in the weekends, it needs to be better. They could definitely add more interesting activities. They don't offer much chance to the folks living there to go out for trips. The place looks nice though. It's always clean and the outside area is pretty. You can tell it is run by a big company because they are usually trying to save money and this means less fun stuff for the people living there.

"Beautiful, but confusing layout and too large dining area"
I checked out this place and several others while searching. It was really nice. I asked someone if people ever get lost, and she said not really once you get used to it. They had small areas, or neighborhoods, each with a theme, like birdhouses, and they were all decorated accordingly. I worried I might get lost and also thought the dining room was very big, but I liked smaller, cozier spaces better.

"Clean, Friendly Assisted Living with Great Options!"
Wow, this place is really nice and clean! The activity director showed me around and answered all my questions. I also noticed that there's a good balance between care directors and staff. They offer different meal options and plenty of activities both on and off the premises. Plus, the price fits perfectly within what I'm looking for.

"Assisted living facility review: Helpful staff, RN, but delayed promises"
This place has really nice folks who help you with stuff. There's a nurse person Monday to Friday, which makes me feel better. They have lots of things to do, so you won't be bored. They even take you shopping, even if only one person wants to go. It's not a big place, so you won't get lost. The food area is a bit messy, but everyone gets their food. The only bad thing is they promised to put a kitchen sink in my mom's room within one to two weeks, but it's been six weeks and still no sink. They keep saying it'll come soon, though.

"Not Perfect, But Has Potential"
My father stayed here for a week while we were on vacation. He thought the people seemed really crazy. He’s not at the same stage as some of them, but he’s just seeing the medical equipment now. I told him that after some time, he would see them as people. They don’t lock the doors here, so people can come and go, but the neighborhood isn’t very good.

"Limited Assistance, Nice Facility, Not for All Seniors"
This assisted living place is really nice, but it's not the best fit for my dad. They expect residents to be able to move around independently. They do help with medications, but they don't assist with bathing or extra care needs. When we were considering it initially, my dad was more independent. But after he fell and broke his leg, we realized it wasn't suitable for him anymore.

"Improvements and Caring Staff Transform Community for Better Living"
This community had some good points when we moved in, but they didn't stick to them. They said they had a nurse, but it turned out she wasn't really certified. Also, they weren't cleaning our loved one's room regularly. When we asked for help, they were responsive, but we had to keep reminding them. There have been a lot of changes in the staff, from the top to the maintenance crew, and things are looking up. Now they have a certified nurse, and the food and other things have gotten better. The new staff seems to really care about the residents and want to give them the best care. The elevator is still a problem though; sometimes it doesn't work, and they have to carry meals upstairs. Overall, it's a pretty good place, and it's getting better with the new staff.

"Best Assisted Living Ever Wish I Could Give More Stars!"
We chose this community because the staff is very attentive and helpful to both residents and visitors. My mom used to have a lot of panic attacks and wanted to leave, but the staff is so caring that she has become comfortable there. Choosing this community felt like hiring a private nurse. The food is great, the care is excellent, and the doctor is wonderful everything is just top-notch. I can’t say enough good things about Bethesda Gardens. The staff calls me by name whenever I visit, and they go above and beyond to make things better. I looked at every assisted living place in the Arlington area, and Bethesda Gardens stood out by far. I’m very picky about my mom’s care, and I couldn’t be happier. I like this community so much that I’d want to move in myself when the time comes. I’d highly recommend this place to my close friends and family.

"Everything stays consistent"
The grounds are beautiful, and the food smells great. The people are friendly, greet everyone, and make it a point to know their names. They use the same caregiver staff, so everything stays consistent. They also keep each person’s medication in their room to reduce the chance of mix-ups. Plus, my dad has plenty of intellectual stimulation with some residents being former pastors, which is perfect for him.
