"Good Experience Despite Mom’s Complaints"
For the price, I think we’ve had a good experience. If you ask my mom, she’d say things aren’t great, like the food and stuff. But I think she’s just complaining because she’s there, not because I’ve seen any big problems.

"Caring Staff and Fun Activities, But Some Bugs"
I really like most of the staff members. One of them especially loves my mom and takes great care of her. Sometimes, I’ve had to sweep the room myself and ask them to spray for bugs because I find them occasionally. I try to be understanding since it’s hard to find good help for a place like this, but most of the staff seem to enjoy their jobs and take pride in their work. My mom seems happy here. She’s made friends and wants to introduce me to everyone, but I can’t roam the halls right now because of the pandemic. I totally get that, and honestly, I don’t want to roam the halls anyway. I think it’s awesome how the Community Activities Director plans so many activities for the residents. I just wish my mom would join in more.

"Neglected Resident Care and Falsified Medical Records at Facility"
Don't put your family member in this place. If you do, be ready to take over when they let your family member's crucial medicine run out, don't bother changing dirty sheets, ignore cleanliness, leave drugs in the residents' room, and lie about giving out medicine. The security camera footage and police reports clearly show that your family member, while under their care, somehow ended up two miles away from the place.

" Negligent Care and Deceit at Assisted Living Facility "
Don't trust your family member to this place. You'll have to take over when they run out of medicine, don't clean the rooms or bedding, don't help with bathing or personal cleanliness, leave medicine laying around, and lie on paperwork saying they took care of medication needs while your family member was let go two miles away, according to video evidence and police reports.

"Friendly Staff, Clean Facility, Lacking Activities, Good Value"
The workers are really nice and helpful when I need help fixing things. The place is neat. It'd be cooler if there were more things to do, but it's worth the money.

"Good to Tour but Not Mom's Top Pick"
We had a good look around this place when we were trying to find somewhere for mom to stay. The people who worked there were really nice and answered all of our questions. The place wasn't as spick and span as we thought it could be. They only had private rooms there, no separate apartments. We brought mom over for a look and she didn't really take to it. I think it's a good idea for families to take a tour of the community before they make up their mind.

"Mom Deserved More Sunlit, Uplifting Site"
Brookdale Champion Oaks simply didn't meet my mom's needs. True, it was spotless, and the workers were friendly and answered every query we had. However, it lacked the light, happy environment we desired for my mom's new home.

"Friendly Community!"
I had a good experience touring this assisted living community with my mom. The staff were punctual for our appointment and answered all our questions. They offered great amenities and activities for the residents. Although it wasn’t the right fit for us, I’d recommend it to others.

"Helpful Staff and Peaceful Atmosphere Improve Transition to Assisted Living"
It's been a big change, but we're managing. The people who run things here are really nice and helpful. They make sure everything we ask for gets done, which has made this whole move easier. There have been some issues with getting Mom's medicine on time, but overall, the nurses and other workers are alright. One thing that's been really nice is the people who come to our house to check on Mom and suggest things that could make her feel better and have more fun while she's here at Brookdale Champion Oaks. The place is calm, and the outdoor area is really nice. But most importantly, my Mom says she's happier now than she was before she moved here!

"Safe and Welcoming Community for Transitioning Residents"
I'm doing okay at this place. It's different from before, but I think I'll like it here. The people who work here are really nice and make me feel welcome. They're helping me get used to living here. Everything is kept neat and tidy. My family knows I'm safe and well taken care of here. I think other people would like living here too.

"Mixed Feelings about Brookdale Assisted Living"
There's a problem with being charged for things my mom isn't getting, and the director isn't very nice. Mom's getting used to her smaller apartment there. The caregivers are super friendly and always ready to help us out. The food is okay. They have activities like bingo, and there's a church and a hairdresser right there. The place is clean.

"Doesn't Feel Like Home!"
Brookdale Champion Oaks is a single-story building. The community appears dated and unattractive. The rooms lack privacy you can see residents from the hallway. It feels more clinical than homey. However, the staff were friendly and provided essential care and cost information.

"Dissatisfied with Some Aspects of Medical Care"
We really appreciate Brookdale Champion Oaks. They were pretty flexible and supportive. However, I was a bit displeased with some aspects of their health care. My mom had low blood pressure and they didn't record it. This made it difficult when she needed to visit the hospital because we didn't have all the necessary details. That really worried me. Aside from this, everything was great. The home is a bit old but the employees here truly care. My mom is under the star waiver program and this is the finest place we've discovered.

"Brookdale is fantastic with friendly staff and homey feel"
Brookdale is doing great. She’s gaining weight and looking good. They always call us right away if something happens. The staff is very friendly. We liked the size of the place and that there are no elevators. I enjoyed the small community feeling; it felt more like home.

"Nice Place with Room for Improvement"
It was nice, even though the place is older. I didn't like having a roommate since they have many shared rooms. Overall, it seemed okay. I met a couple of ladies during lunch, and they said they enjoyed living there. The food was good, and they quickly made friends after moving in. However, the community promised me lunch when I visited, but they didn't deliver.

"Extremely pleased with care and transition support."
We are very happy with this place. We’re relieved that he’s well cared for and comfortable. He’s really happy and made friends there. The facility has been great. It’s a perfect match for him. The courtyard is nice and safe, so he can enjoy being outside. They even took him on a fishing trip, which helped him adjust. The transition was tough, but they’ve been very patient and get to know our family.

"Okay but Clean Facility, Happy Residents, Fair Price"
It's not the most fancy spot, but it's well-kept and the workers are super friendly. The people living there look really satisfied. The price isn't too bad. I'm not a fan of the area it's in, but there aren't a ton of residents, and they seem pretty happy.

"Decent Assisted Living, Needs Improvements in Cleanliness"
My mom lives at this assisted living home and she seems pretty happy there. The place can house about 70 people and there are around 45 rooms, give or take. She shares her room with another woman and it seems like they get along just great. The folks here let the residents smoke but only outside on the back porch. If your mom or dad smokes, this place should work well as not many places allow that these days. The food here is pretty good and the staff members who serve it are really nice. It always looks like at least two staff members are helping out the residents. A lot of the people who live here have dementia or have had strokes, and others are simply old. Something I find really cool is how much the residents seem to help each other out. It happens all the time. If they forget when it's mealtime, the staff gently reminds them. The facility has two buses especially for those who need wheelchairs. They're able to take the residents to and from places like Walmart once a week. This means the residents can pick up whatever they need if they're up to it. The staff will also take residents to doctor's appointments if they're not too far away. This building is somewhat old and the TV reception isn't the greatest. They're aware of the issue. The cleanliness of the rooms isn't the best; it seems like there's not enough staff to keep them spotless. They only provide toilet paper, so you'll need to bring any extra things like cups or toothpaste. The front of the building looks nice, but the back porch could use some work. It's a little dirty, with cobwebs on the chairs and such.

"Great Assisted Living with Caring Staff and Many Activities"
Emeritus at Champions on 1960, Houston, Texas is a great place for my 96-year-old mom. The staff is friendly, clean, and caring, and they’ve all had background checks. The marketing team did an excellent job helping my mom settle in. They answered all my questions and replied to every email quickly. The facility has lots of activities, a hair salon, church services, and more. I’m really happy with everything they offer.

"Concerns Over Care and Building Condition"
I'm the one who mentioned the medication issues before. I can't understand why there's no record of the problems I reported, since I personally spoke with the director. This lack of any report is worrying. The number of staff changes over the last two years is too many to count. The building is old and hasn't been well-maintained, both inside and out. What bothers me the most is that the staff doesn't follow the doctor's instructions. They've even failed to give my family member their prescribed medicine twice.

"Good Staff and Price, but Didn't Fit Our Specific Needs"
The building felt older and not as fresh compared to the other Emeritus places we visited, but the caregivers were just as wonderful and dedicated. There was renovation going on at the time, which might make the place feel better. The cost was quite fair compared to others we had seen. Sadly, it didn't meet the specific care needs of my family members.

"Neglectful Night Staff Tarnishes Otherwise Decent Assisted Living Facility"
After moving in we rarely saw the people we initially interacted with while signing the contract. So, meeting the nurses and aides is highly recommended. On the bright side, the management is friendly and keen, with the director, sales manager and head nurse all being a great help. Upon entering, the place gives a positive vibe with welcoming greetings. Unfortunately, the nighttime staff does not live up to the standards. I've found them slow to answer calls. Despite these issues, it seems like they are trying to resolve them. Their recent hire of an impressive new head nurse and a director and sales manager might be a sign of positive changes. The decision to choose this place was a combination of its friendly staff, pocket-friendliness, and location. The frequent use of scentsy pots gave it a clean aroma, which regrettably seems to have stopped. They surely need to focus on maintaining the cleanliness throughout the facility. This home was chosen as it is smaller, unlike many larger, hotel-like facilities, which makes it more personal and comfortable.

"This Older Place Is Welcoming and Clean"
This place is older and away from the busy city of 1960. The director was super helpful and showed me around. I chatted with a couple of residents. Everything looks clean and neat, and residents can decorate their rooms. The dining area is organized and tidy. Residents just got back from a Wal-mart trip and seemed excited. The Activities Director was friendly and well-spoken. No bad smells, friendly staff, and a peaceful atmosphere residents are happy.
