"Proceed with caution! Expenses add up fast in this facility."
Watch out for unexpected charges and steep rent hikes. Plus, think twice about future assistance, especially if stairs are a concern.

"Great services and communication at Brookdale Gaines Ranch!"
We picked Brookdale Gaines Ranch because the services, food, and apartment were all really good for the price. The staff answered our questions quickly and stayed in touch throughout the moving process and after. They’ve been great with communication. I would definitely suggest Brookdale Gaines Ranch.

"Good care options, but meals and move-in process need improvement"
We chose this community because they offer independent living, assisted living, and memory care. The price is reasonable. However, the meals need improvement. I've eaten there and at other places, and I wouldn't like eating that stuff. Also, the move-in process wasn't great. To use the service elevator, you have to come from the back where the trash is, and it smelled terrible.

"Great care and activities at Brookdale; highly recommended for peace of mind"
I find the process of paying the deposit, community fee, and first month's rent confusing. It's important to ask a lot of questions to understand it all. Overall, once my dad moved in, he had a really positive experience with the staff. After we paid the deposit and chose this place, the salespeople passed us on to the long-term staff, who are great. My dad has only good things to say about the Brookdale staff. They offer many activities. It took him some time to get settled, as his top priorities were making doctor appointments and setting up his bank account. He likes the weekly Catholic communion and has started using the indoor pool for water aerobics. He goes to the happy hour every Wednesday, though he hasn't joined game nights or other social events yet. He's getting there. My dad lives in a spacious one-bedroom apartment that was renovated before he moved in. He downsized from a four-bedroom house to this apartment, but we divided the bedroom into a sleep area and an office with a desk and computer. The bathroom is large and safe, with guard rails. He has plenty of storage and a nice patio. The kitchen works well, but he enjoys the food so much he rarely uses it. His weight, which was a concern, has increased by about 7 pounds since he moved in, which is great. I recommend Brookdale to others. After visiting 11 places, Brookdale stood out as the best value for the money, and their care services are excellent. The medical care is top-notch; he sees a physician's assistant who visits his apartment, and they come to draw blood or do lab work as needed. He now uses the shuttle for his urologist and cardiologist appointments. They helped him find new doctors and arrange transportation. Coming from a small town in New Mexico with poor healthcare, this is a huge benefit. Brookdale Gaines Ranch has given me and my sisters peace of mind. We were worried about my dad living alone in a big house, and this place is perfect for him!
