"Communication Issues and Unhealthy Food Options"
The people who work here seem to mean well, but they aren't good at communicating. There aren't many condiments available, and the line to get food has a 5-foot-high wall that's hard to see over and talk to the staff, especially if you're in a wheelchair. There's a lot of fried food, which makes it hard to eat healthy, especially if you have diabetes.

"Great staff, clean, safe, needs better activities and map"
Great receptionists! Clean, nice apartments, and good food variety. However, activities need improvement, and the map of the premises is terrible. Food and snacks aren't always available. It's the best place in Kerrville. I love most of the people I’ve met there. It’s safe, and I don’t worry about my mom’s surroundings. It’s close to stores and medical facilities.

"Communication and Dining Need Improvement at Assisted Living Facility"
Juniper isn't very good at talking to residents when there's a problem. My family member often skips meals because the food isn't great and there aren't many sauces. Like, they serve chicken strips without any sauce, not even ketchup.

"Friendly staff, abundant activities."
Our loved one's caregiver is trustworthy, and residents are kind. The cafeteria staff is friendly, and they offer plenty of activities in a nice center with a library.

"Overall positive experience."
The sales team was fantastic, genuinely caring for my dad. Rocky start, but staff resolved issues. Food needs improvement.

"Mixed Picture: Assisted Living Reality"
They make it sound great and talk about all the stuff they do, but it's not exactly what they claim. If your loved one can move around, it might be okay. Otherwise, I'd suggest checking out other places.

"Brookdale has good food and activities but costly laundry service"
I moved here and wasn’t sure what to expect. Brookdale provides similar services but has a “concierge” who seems a bit overwhelmed. Sometimes, she even drives the bus, which means she’s not available to schedule help. Help here is costly! Senior Helpers had an office and were very active, plus there were many independent helpers looking for work. We had a washer and dryer in each apartment. I could have a helper come in and do the laundry, and while waiting, they would do other tasks like ironing or taking out the trash. Here at Brookdale, the laundry room is on the 3rd floor. A helper picks up the laundry, and when it's done, delivers it back for $13 per load. Some people do their own laundry, so this cost doesn’t apply to everyone. If you're on a tight budget, ask to see the cost sheet for different types of help. Overall, I’m happy here. The food is good, my 2-bedroom apartment is great for storage, and the basic rent is $500 less than other, so I can manage. I hope to join more activities. There isn’t a Chaplain, but there are church services, Bible studies, and music almost every day. I’ll be even happier once I find a bridge group. The “bridge room” is small with only one table, which is disappointing. However, I’ve been asked to help start a Book Club, which will be fun. The staff here supports residents' interests and experience. Hope this helps!

"Friendly staff, good food, fun activities; parking is limited"
Everything is great at this community. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help with any questions. If you miss breakfast, they'll check on you to make sure you're okay. The food is tasty and comes in large portions. You can choose between a full or half portion, and even the half portion can be a lot. The menu changes daily. Lunch is served as a sit-down meal, while breakfast and dinner are buffet-style. You can pick your food and either eat there or take it to your room. Housekeeping cleans your area and takes out the trash once a week. My husband and I handle our own laundry. The other residents are also friendly. Even though I've only been here for three weeks, I’ve met many people. I’m usually shy, but everyone is welcoming and happy to live here. The staff keeps us informed about events and activities. They give us a monthly calendar and daily flyers about what’s happening. There are music groups, dominoes, bridge, bingo, and card games. I recommend this community, but the parking could be better.

"Residents Deserve Better Food at Assisted Living Facility"
My aunt lives in an apartment at an assisted living facility. She enjoys the community, but the food is not good. The evening meal comes in a Styrofoam takeout box, which isn't ideal. The residents deserve better.
